Bill's Nurse practitioner was here this morning and all was good. We are having a very quiet afternoon. It is an absolutely gorgeous day!

Carole - I think there are a lot of those older systems that are better off being repaired. My garage door was due to be replaced next spring anyway, so I am going to be glad to go ahead and have it done. With the gorgeous weather we are supposed to have this weekend, it is the perfect time to have it done.

Our HVAC unit is rather old and we got the same info from the guy who came to fix it. It was a really good unit, rather large for our house, but keep it as long as you can. The guy who owned the house before us was an HVAC guy so he had jury-rigged it and kind of surprised the guy who came to fix it-said he'd never seen anything like it, but put it back together like it was supposed to be and it's run great since then.

I had my bone density test yesterday but have to wait two to three weeks for the results.

Today was Bill's birthday. #87. He had such a good time at church this morning. I'm not quite sure how everyone knew his birthday, but the worship leader started the service singing Happy Birthday to him and he just beamed. The people just flocked around him after church. We were the last leaving the parking lot...people even came to the car.

How exciting! I'm so glad it was a special day for him. My mom is also 87 years old this month, on the 13th. I have no idea how she is doing though :( Not my choice!

I recently bought a pair of headphones that clip onto the outside of my ear rather than putting it inside my ear! I ended up putting it at the top of my ear because it hurt when I put it on the side. I hardly feel it at all being on top and I hear just great. Now I don't have the feeling all the time like something is stuck in my ear! I have other friends who've gotten the bone conductive head phones which also don't go inside the ear, but those go over the ear where my glasses are and I had a hard time getting it on right, so I opted for these instead.

Have an awesome day. It's beautiful here, hope it's nice where you are.

I use bluetooth that go over one ear. The hook over the ear (kind of C shaped) but have a tab that goes into the ear, but not deeply. I also have a little one that just clips around the ear, but it hurts my ear. I might try it higher on the ear. I like it, but it hurts after about an hour.

They had the Thanksgiving Dinner at mom's complex tonight, but we couldn't go. I just can't get Bill in and out of the car in the dark. The parking lot there isn't large, either, so I probably couldn't get a good parking place. AND my step daughter won't drive the interstate after dark so I wouldn't even ask her to come and watch Bill for me to go. I'm sure the food was better than a turkey burger and potato salad, but it was what it was. We did have a good visit with her this morning, so that will have to do.

I don't blame you for not wanting to go through all of that!

We are having a Church family get together for Thanksgiving. The turkey is something we usually bring and the ham what our pastor's wife brings and then everyone else fills in with the sides. I won't know for sure until closer to that day if we are going to do it that way this year. It is so much fun and so much food! One of my "sisters" in the Lord makes this pineapple and cheese casserole - oh my. It is so good! I hope she's able to make it this year. I made a pumpkin casserole one year rather than a sweet potato one and the young men really liked that. I'll see what I can do this year. I don't do much cooking because I just can't stand up that long. The past week has been quite bad for pain in my hip, right thigh, and right SI joint. I am seriously contemplating talking to my NP and seeing if she can see me earlier than December. I'd appreciate your prayers.

I did get my eyes checked today. They are keeping an eye on the pressure and on the two little cataracts that I have. They did a ultra sound on my eye to be able to see the nerve at the back of my eye as well as seeing the cornea and iris and if the spaces on the side of the iris are wide enough to let the fluid flow freely. One side on my iris, on the eye that often has a higher pressure, isn't as wide as it should be, so that is a good possibility why the pressure is there. The other is that I occasionally use fluticasone which has a steroid in it and that can cause your eyes to hang on to fluid! I will get checked every six months, but if I cut out the fluticasone and just do the saline water I'm hoping that that pressure will come down. It was within normal range today, in both eyes. Praise the Lord for that. I'll remain a glaucoma suspect, but we aren't going there just yet. Everything looked good. Yeah!

We have had a bit of an issue with Bill. I looked it up online and the possibilities were UTI (but we have been through that and it isn't at all how he usually presents), dehydration, and prostate (and he had prostate cancer several years ago). I was really concerned, but starting forcing him to drink more. This morning, it was better and this evening I didn't notice at all. Praying that it was the easy thing. We have doctor's appointments next Monday, so if we don't see further UTI symptoms, we will just bring it up at the appointment. When they do blood work, they can check his PSI numbers, so all will be covered.

We had friends here today and really enjoyed the visit. They brought birthday cake and ice cream for Bill and he really enjoyed the attention. I enjoyed the birthday cake.....oops.

We will keep you in prayer, Kim.

I have a couple of requests as well.
1 - my aunt fell a couple of weeks ago and had to call an ambulance to get her to the hospital. She had blood clots in her lungs and in her lower leg. Evidently the one isn't gone yet in her lower leg and she can't get in or out of bed, or turn over in bed. She is currently in rehab trying to get strengthened to be able to go home.
2 - Bill's sister has Alzheimer's and has been living with her son and daughter-in-law and their grade school aged twins. She has become a handful and is more than Sandy can handle with the kids. They were thinking about Memory Care for her, but have just been putting it off, hating to go that direction. This weekend she took a physical turn for the worse and they thought she was dying, but after they got her to the hospital, they found it was a bad UTI and sepsis. They were able to medicate her and she is much better. They have moved her to a nursing home and it appears that this will be her new home. I think it best for everyone, but pray that the kids have peace about the move and help Shirley be content. And, when the time comes for her to go home to the Lord, make it easy for her and the family.

Connie, lifting up prayers for each of these friends, and Bill as well. It is really hard to let go of the care of someone you want so badly to do for, but sometimes it's just more than you are capable of. Mom's medical issues were more than we could take care of and she needed nursing help. I am praying that Shirley enjoys her stay and finds peace and contentment. Maybe she will enjoy the companions she meets there like Bill enjoys his Church friends and company. Hey, you deserve a piece of cake! You are an amazing care-giver and I keep you in my prayers as well.

I'm going to hold off calling my NP until next week and see if the pain recedes in my hip, back and leg. I am feeling quite a bit of fatigue as well, not getting a full night of deep sleep as well as the exhaustion constant pain brings on. I'm okay if I sit still, but as soon as I move or shift position I get that stab of pain in my leg - but if I don't move my lower back starts aching. I have an appointment at the end of December, but I think that I am going to need help before then. I'll use the rollator that we have here to make sure that I don't fall and it takes some of the weight off of that leg. I don't use a cane well, but carry it sometimes as a way to balance myself when my leg gets that shot of pain. If it is arthritis, I have no idea what we can do about it because I can't take arthritis pain meds. I could maybe do some shots, they don't cause as much stomach pain as the pills do. Jesus knows and I just have to keep turning my focus on that and trusting that He already has the solution! I can't image how people survive without Him. Love y'all.

Woke up to our first snow of the season this morning! It doesn't look like much, but was still pretty. It was beautiful as it gently fell during the night (I know, because I stood out in it), then slowly melted away in the morning light.

Connie, I read about Bill's birthday surprise at church and know he was thrilled. You and Bill are so well loved! I'm also praying for your aunt and Bill's sister. And that you can get your medical appointment moved up, Kim, as well as finding pain relief that works for you. I know you long to be free of pain.

Next week will be busy, but fun. I haven't quite figured out 2-3 things that I've got to plan for, just need to think through it all. I'm looking forward to our meal at church on Thursday.

Oh wow, what a nice snow! That's the kind I like, gently falling, sticking long enough for a picture and then melting away! We haven't had any snow here on the coast which is fine with me! I grew up in Ohio, near Lake Erie and we used to get lots of snow, from October to March!

How's everyone doing, Connie? Praying for your family members. Praying for your friend as well, Carole. Also looking forward to having our Thanksgiving meal with Church family!

It's been a bit chilly here. I finally put on a thermal undershirt beneath my sweatshirt! Oh my! I guess the overheating is over! Yay and Praise the Lord! I have a dictionary on my computer and finally looked up yea, yeah, and yay! Now I know which one is the yippee yahoo one!

Another day of taking it easy, I don't want to be hurting during worship service tomorrow. Wow, it's hard not to say Church when I want to say worship. We always used to say, we are going to church, but the church isn't the building, it's the people who love Jesus in the building. When Jesus comes back He is going to take His Church away - people, not buildings! Not a big deal, but when they start making laws against the Church, they'll be shutting down buildings, but that isn't the Church - it's just the place the Church meets and the Church can meet pretty much anywhere (catacombs, caves, homes, etc...). Lord willing we won't have to be concerned about that for at least four years!

Can you believe that they put out an arrest warrant for Netanyahu? Well, I guess I can believe they did it, they are wicked and liberal and don't care about doing what is right!

Have a very happy and blessed weekend!

Good afternoon ladies. I'm finally back home on American soil and glad to be here. I got an unexpected day off and did some sightseeing... the yellow,
orange and green colors from the inside of La Sagrada Familia is from sunlight coming through the stained glass windows...

My foot is still hurting and I didn't do it any favors by walking around all day in Barcelona on Thursday... trying to take it easy now.

My prayers go out to all of you... in general and for the specific things you've requested. May I ask for prayers for my 3 year granddaughter, Carter? She had had two seizures... one as an infant and another one maybe a year ago. Well she had a 3rd one while I was in Barcelona and ended up at the emergency room. It happened during my son and daughter-in-law's small group meeting with their church group Tuesday night. One of the other members is a nurse, and had an oxygen monitor with her. She used it and saw that Carter's oxygen levels were low, so my son had to give her mouth-to-mouth before the ambulance came. She was discharged the next day, after they talked to a doctor who said she's also having several mini seizures (2-3 seconds) that go unnoticed. They want to put her on a stronger medication to control those mini seizures, but it will eventually cause liver damage. They mentioned the word epilepsy for the first time.
I should add that not only are they concerned about the seizures and the medication - their insurance isn't great and they might be looking at a really big bill.

    Beautiful pictures!

Praying for your Granddaughter! How scary, but so glad that there was a nurse readily available. Praying that there is a medication without the huge side effect (or that God intervenes and not meds necessary), praying that God intervenes in the finances for the treatments, praying for your foot.

Kim - you remain in our prayers.

Praying, Cindy, for your granddaughter, her mommy and daddy, and for you too! God knows and already has a solution.

I continue to pray for y'all and appreciate all of your prayers too. My hip isn't as painful as it had been all week. Being able to rest it has helped. I got a note saying that there were results from my test on the 15th (my bone density test) at Athena Health. At first I couldn't get in because Mom's account is still active somehow - but eventually I was able to get myself added to that account. When I finally got in it said I had no test results - hmmm??? I didn't think they would be there that quickly, so not sure what that was about!

Had a really good service this Sunday, lots of praise and sharing after an excellent Bible Class before our Worship Service. Evening Worship was very good as well. So glad that we are here with out Church family after such a long time apart!

Looking forward to our Thanksgiving service and meal this Thursday!

    Love y'all.

We had a new NP come to the house through Bill's Drs. We really liked her. I added them as my Primary physician, too. That way I can have my yearly check ups, and basic health care done from home. They mainly take people that are homebound, but they will also take their spouses. She laughed at my file...there wasn't much in it. I am thankful to be so incredibly healthy.

When she called to confirm her visit time, I told her about Bill's UTI and she went ahead and called in that script, so we got him started on it a little earlier. This one isn't causing the intestinal upsets, so that is a huge positive. She told me to have him finish the script to try to assure that it is totally gone this time. The last doctor said he could go off early when the symptoms were gone (and I did due to the diarrhea). We will see how this goes.

Lord willing this one will be trouble-free! Praying he gets good results. I'm so glad that y'all have a doctor's office that will come and see you! That is a rare thing these days.

No results from the bone density test. I did find my health records for the medical group that my doctor's office is a part of and it says in there that the results are done but it didn't say what those results were, so I still don't know and have no idea when my doctor's office will get them to me. I do not want to wait until my appointment in December! I didn't call about moving that up. With the holidays in full swing I didn't think I could get a change much earlier than the four weeks I'm going to have to wait anyway. I have done better these last two days, so I am praying that things stay good until I can get in. Still pain, but not nearly as bad as it had been. Thank you so much for your prayers!

I just have to chat for a minute and brag on my bargain hunter ways.

I still have an Old Navy Visa. I rarely use it, but if I do, as with all credit cards, it gets paid off at the end of the month. We bought a new garage door and had it installed last week. I used Bill's debit card for the first half and thought I used it for the last half of the payment, but accidentally used the Old Navy Card instead (same color and right next to it in my wallet). When I realized it, I didn't think anything about it, except that I am a ditz! The big deal about their cards is the awards towards clothes that you get. So, the next day I was notified that I now had $50 in Old Navy Cash that I could use. Hmmmm, no hurry, but that could be fun. Then, I got a notice that if I spent $100 at Old Navy on my card, that I could get $40 off. So, I went on-line and looked through the big sales and found a few things that Bill and I could use (regular priced at $238). After my discounts, I paid $17. WooHoo. I love a good bargain!! I got 2 sweaters, 1 pair of dress pants, 2 pairs of comfy pants for me and a pair for Bill.
