Finished Three Wishes - Lianne Moriarty - really enjoyed it. Just the light reading I was looking for.
Next - Conclave by Robert Harris2 -
Gone South by Robert McCammon was ok.
The Brightwood Code by Monica Hesse was pretty good, as was Blood Song by Anthony Ryan, I am looking forward to reading more of that series by Ryan.
I'm reading Cage of Souls by Adrian Tchaikovsky which is really good so far.2 -
Just about finished with Whiskey Tender by Deborah Jackson Taffa. It dragged in a couple places, but overall I found this memoir quite interesting.2

The Racketeer by John Grisham was purely fictional and a good thriller. Nothing needed to be researched for the story according to the author.2

I really really liked The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury.
I also read a western trilogy that wasn't horrible. And a Star Wars book that I didn't care for as much.
Now I am reading the new book by Michael J. Sullivan, Drumindor, it is a fantasy.2 -

I'll be honest - I thought it moved a little slow for all the hype of intrigue until the last couple of pages. I truly did not see that ending coming. Wow!

I'm reading book 5 of the Harry Potter series this weekend, The Order of the Phoenix.
The last book I read, book 9 of Preston and Child's Agent Pendergast series Cemetery Dance was good, a bit better than some of the previous ones in this series. I think the duo's writing skills are improving as I go along, they are on book 22 now so I think they must have figured it out.2 -

I squeezed in Calamity, book 3 of the Reckoners trilogy by Brandon Sanderson yesterday. It was a marathon read, I had nothing else going on and read it in a day.
I hit my reading goal for the year by beating my highest year ever in stats and I still have a month to go. I can't really go by the number of pages because I read some middle grade poetry books last month and hit 10,000 pages again, those add lots of pages for short books. I go by number of hours a day because I am listening to audio too, I have a spreadsheet to keep track of how much I read. I'm up from my highest year (2021) by 30 minutes a day on average.
Keeping it in perspective, I don't watch TV and read less than a lot of people watch TV everyday, or spend on Video games or whatever else their hobby might be. Reading it definitely my hobby...

I hit my Goodreads reading goal over the weekend. 28 books. Except some of them were more novellas or short stories than full books. So I expect my year end page count will be quite lower than last. Oh well I still have a month to log more reading. Love my own blissful oblivion @Catfish_Fan2

Cemetery Road by Greg Iles was MUCH better than the 7th Penn Cage novel that was so very political. The politics inserted into Southern Man was over the top, even if I agreed with some of the opinions, I wanted to read a Greg Iles Penn Cage thriller and not a political treatise against Trump. I was disappointed by Southern Man but I really liked Cemetery Road. I think I have read all the Greg Iles books now.
I'm reading Meru by S.B. Divya which I found in Kindle Unlimited along with the audiobook companion. If I like it enough there is a sequel that I also checked out. It is a sci-fi.2 -
Yes, the sequel was good too. The author stated at the end that she wrote the book (the sequel) while experiencing long-Covid CFS/ME. I have two friends with CFS/ME and sort of understand how little energy people with that condition have.
Current read is Gleanings by Neal Shusterman.2 -
Almost finished with The Joke. I have so many options for my next book that it's hard to decide. I'll probably start After Lives by Abdulrazak Gurnah, though several other books are calling me. I splurged on a new novel by Niall Williams and I'm looking forward to reading that very soon.2

I paused my western which I intend to finish by the end of the year and I'm about 1/3 through the 51 hour long James Michener book Centennial, the first book I have ever read by Michener. I thought it was strange how he started with the beginning and stories about dinosaurs; I had no idea what kind of book I was picking up as I have never read anything about Michener or any reviews, nor even the blurb on the back of the book jacket, I just have heard of the popular author and his books of intimidating length. This one is 1100 pages... I hope to get it done by Dec 31 also.2

Reading After Lives but I've also started A Wilder Shore about Fanny and Robert Louis Stevenson just for fun. I've also myself treated myself to several other books on Kindle and a couple in hard cover so the holidays are covered!

Centennial read like a Western, complete with Native Americans and cowpunchers and it was a multi-generational story about a town in Colorado. I had no idea what I was getting but finished the 1,100 page book in a week, immersion read with the 50 hour audiobook. I like Westerns so I rated it 5* but I can see how some might not like it as well. I will read more Michener in the future, I have several more from Audible audiobooks with the Kindle version also for immersion reading.
Right now I need a different genre, after 50 hours of Western it is time for something completely different. I think I will put my "on hold" Western novel on the back burner and choose a different book to finish the year. I expected Centennial to take the rest of 2024 but I knocked it out of the park.1 -
I've never read any Michener either but have always wanted to give him a try. Maybe, after I make a dent in the TBR mountain. The last couple of months I've been adding to it faster than I am reading from it.
