Food inspiration, or what's for supper?

Lentils, hmmm.....
CCCGG makes a lentil stew all the time... I find it too much work personally and I'm not sure it fills me up. Though these things do change over time.
I also wonder if you can do stuff with besan (chickpea flour). I had played with that and egg whites a while back...1 -
Well perhaps 🤔 your bread, egg, cheese thingy was better looking in person? Was that brie on it? Makes all the difference. But hey - as long as it was yummy you get no argument from me.
Eggs 🥚 - yikes. Can’t touch the organic ones. I think the folks in Kauai Hawaii have the right idea. Lots of feral chickens that wander about the towns. One could go foraging for eggs.2 -
Hubby is a big fan of lentils. I won’t touch them. Something about the texture/flavor. Even mixed in other stuff MEH.
Today had my cereal with yogurt for supper. Okay they were Froot Loops- but still cereal, no?2 -
Not your fault the single portion cups have 4 fruit loops for each 2 corn pops and frosted flakes, I agree!!!!!🤣🤣🤣0
-
Why is there not a set "laughing" response? I guess because people use it in a nasty way ... but sometimes all you can do is laugh, really.
Ah...brie...that explains the lack of prettiness. Delicious - but NOT pretty2 -
Can’t help it. Love the Froot Loops! Nothing like watching an old lady happily snarf down the Loops. I’ve had to fight kids at hotel breakfast buffets for my share!1
-
again - needing the smiley respond2
-
So today was spaghetti squash with marinara and some small turkey meatballs. And a green salad.2
-
Lite pimento cheese and Wasa crackers. I’m out of Froot Loops!
I had a decent balanced breakfast. Meatloaf and veggies at lunch. I’m just not “feeling” a meal later in the day even with a sufficient calorie balance. This seems to be working weight wise. I’m down three pounds.2 -
All done with the radiation now, Yooly?0
-
Radiation done! Chemo next - 4 sessions 21 days apart. Symptom list sounds grim. I’m planning on lots of soups, pasta and eggs. Cooked veggies 🥕. And Froot Loops!2
-
I've got laryngitis, maybe strep throat. So my food looks like this:
Cottage cheese
Hot decaf mochas (fairlife Chocolate protein shake, hazelnut syrup, decaf Espresso)
Chai with milk
Lemon protein pudding
Yogurt
Hot tea
More hot tea
Sugar-free cough drops3 -
Get well Nic! You’ve got a lot going on but go easy.1
-
I think you are even allowed to add fruit loops to your bath, Yooly.
Hope all those great fluids help you feel better, Nic.1 -
get well!1
-
Egg potato salad #2 continues to be consumed2
-
Default dinner. I’m out of Froot Loops! 😢. So Skyr yogurt with a cup of multi grain Cheerios and some blackberries. I did have a semi Cobb salad for lunch. Lettuce, sliced ham and one egg with low-fat dressing. And some small rice crackers.
I was going to open a can of soup tonight but ….. just wasn’t feeling it.
I have to get my nutrition game on. Because I’m not having chemo I’ll be doing hormone therapy which apparently has weight gain as a side effect. Like I need that too!!!2 -
Night 2 of 3 for work and my fake chicken soup.
1 serving frozen mirepoix (carrot, onion, celery)
1 serving frozen green beans
1 serving frozen shitske mushrooms
110g pre-cooked chicken, chopped
210ml chicken bone broth
Pureed garlic, black pepper, parsley
Soy sauce
Basically assembled it with all the veg frozen, then it defrosted, and I take it to work and nuke the heck out of it. It's tasty enough, and low effort. I'm still sick.3 -
Antibiotics? Get well Nic! Maybe the palliative effects of chicken soup will help.
That is REAL chicken soup not fake. Clever of you to put it together first. No slogging slow boil on the stove.2 -
I'm avoiding antibiotics. TMI but my snot/plegm is not yellow/green, and no fever so there's really no sign its bacterial, just a vicious virus. I tested for covid this weekend just in case, and that was negative.3
-
My thoughts also, Yooly. That is REAL chicken soup
I was waiting for the fake aspects.
Hope you are feeling better, Nic.
Hope many Fruitloops come to you before you hit the healthy eating trail too hard, Yooly!
I had forgotten about that egg/potato/cauliflower salad, PAV. Must make it when I get back.2 -
No cauliflower this time and I forgot in the microwave for half the day the egg whites I was going to add in there!!! So the girl got the extra protein instead of myself😡0

Friends brought over a big pot of authentic gumbo! Chicken, shrimp and okra chunks. Made using his Louisiana mama’s recipe. Enough for a crowd. And plenty of rice.
It’s fairly low cal because he didn’t add sausage. I’ll be having mine over cauliflower rice. Yummo!1 -
See gumbo even with sausage over cauliflower rice would be way less calories then over normal rice! I ❤️ cauliflower rice (even though i think the prices are criminal!!!😡)

Actually it's funny. Yesterday I did a chicken curry dinner from Walmart for ~400 calories. Kicked out about half the rice and replaced it with a 340 g bag of cauliflower rice more than doubling the volume. And possibly some extra chicken breast for about 100 calories. Turning it into a substantial dinner as opposed to a snack! 😛 Though by the time I finished I could have used more sauce!!!!🤷♂️1 -
Dinner is Sunday roast: pork tenderloin, baby yellow and red potatoes, carrots, Brussels sprouts and pork gravy.2
-
Hmmm .... you got me going Yooly! Got a chicken curry ~400 and a beef vindaloo ~480 Cal (again each seem to have 150 to 160g rice plus the goodies). Kicked the rice to the curb (quick carbs for canine cuisine) and replaced with riced California mix 502g.... split in two batches. After adding and subtracting about 600 Cal for BOTH batches. I think a wise person would cook a batch of real food and freeze it instead of the not exactly cheap frozen dinners that are 50% rice... but who said anything about the wise!😛1

Wow Nic - that’s some hard chewing for your busted lip 👄! I might have dumped it all in a blender and slurped with a straw.1 -
Yup good old cauliflower rice. You can just buy a raw head of cauliflower and chop in a blender. It cooks/nukes quickly this way. Also once cooked it can be portioned and frozen.
I do similar prep with spaghetti squash. Cook, portion and freeze.1 -
You can do your own!
WOW!
Concept!
MIND BLOWN!
(I really SHOULD try it!)
Hey: Nic posted while I was posting. That's a nice dinner! Must be nice to have all the flock together in one place!!!!0
