Thanks - I think a big part of the problem is the cancer med. Mood changes and depression are definitely a common side effect. Hopefully I can work through this in time.

Hope so too, Yooly. I hate to read that you are going through this. Can't help but feel more certain on my decision not to take the hormone blockers. Hope that it was the right one.
Do they thing the effects will taper off? Or they will be there for as long as you take them? I hear different things from different people.

The medical system! Tomorrow schlep for an eye exam. Wouldn’t it be lovely to do like the ultra wealthy? Check into a posh hospital room for the day and have the doctors come to you. All lab work on site.
Comes a point in your life where it just seems a great bother driving all over town every few weeks to have various bits and pieces checked out!!!

How far do you have to drive to get checked behind your ears? 🤔

All you can check resort sounds like an awesome plan! 😎🤣

”How far do you have to drive to get checked behind your ears? 🤔”

it’s not so much the distances although traffic here is awful. Austin’s population has tripled in the last thirty years ( million +) but no new highways, bridges, infrastructure or public transportation has been added. It’s a horror show.
And then there’s the whole checking in with each provider- get the clipboard and write up all med history, insurance, etc. Wouldn’t it be easier to ask if anything has changed and modify that? I try to do check in online beforehand but even there it’s the same pages of filling out information that should be on file. Arghhhhhh……..🤬

Getting cranky in my old age!

    AND- go Oilers! 🏒

    Agree! All of it!

We've spent hours & hours & hours last 2 weeks trying to find the source that stopped ins coverage, multiple calls, multiple offices, 'looks good here' and other end says 'you're not here'

Weird limboland - finally someone spotted a code that said 'ended' instead of 'start' - it's been a bit like trying to undead yourself, lol

Finally think it's fixed. Knocks on wood.

You're not getting cranky. They're annoying as all $)it asking the same questions again and again.

I request a copy of last form to update anything that needs it…I will NOT put down my name and address again! It's ridiculous.

Also, I'm finally wizing up to take a photo of the completed forms…

But I rarely get PAPER forms anymore. It’s an iPad and that requires signature with a finger! Receipt is sent to my email.
I pity the folks who never learned to use a computer screen. Especially the really sick patients at the oncology clinic who are struggling and stressed to the max already.

It is getting more difficult to opt out of the tech, everywhere. And exceedingly difficult to fix errors! Used to be way easier.

They gave up too many breakaway/odd man rushes and paid the price, twice (the shorthanded goal, and the overtime game winner).

Thanks Nic for the info. I need to read up on ice hockey rules and history!
By the way -no snacks were eaten while watching hockey game. I call that a victory for me.

I’ve had a lovely break, with lots of walking about; lovely place is Copanhagen & the gastonomy was amazing! Hoping that all the walking & cycling helps cancel out the pancakes, pastries & sumptuous dining 😬

Tried to keep the snacks down….. do not want that 1/2 stone back!

Scales day tomorrow! Next holiday is in July! Back to the logging & shuffling tomorrow 😉

Ah Copenhagen! Travel to interesting places is so much easier in Europe. It takes me a whole day of driving to cross the state line out of Texas!

Less pricey nowadays too! Can’t recommend Whizz Air, even though is very cheap in comparisons! 🛩️

Loads of more amazing places I’d like to visit over in the US though Yooly! Went to New York years ago & had an amazing, unforgetable time 🗽

Uh oh. I've booked cccgg on a flight from Greece to Italy on Volotea... Aegean was code sharing with them and the Aegean ticket for the same flight was 35% more!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ The later flights on Aegean equipment were 50% more. (Over 100 euro difference even after the various charges)🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Not on this one…. just travel agency :) (by various charges I mean the nickel and diming charges that doubled the ticket… while still leaving it more than 1/3 of the price less expensive than the Aegean alternative for the same flight and more so even for the later flight)

Yooly, I arrive at the medical office stating the computer was glitching so haven't filled out the forms- but I can quickly update the info on file as not much has changed…

Now of course, not if it's a new place!

I also refuse (nicely, in a 'it's all beyond me' manner 😉) to log into any portals.

I have become increasingly uncompliant (is that a word?).

My first cataract surgery is in a couple of hours…just finishing up chores as can't bend or lift much for a week or so after!

Sometimes "saving up the calories" for a larger meal works….
    but
sometimes "saving up the calories" for a larger meal gets overwhelmed by the larger meal…

I sort of wonder afterwards if it might have worked out the same anyway, or if it might have been better "controlled" with less of a deficit going into it!

I guess it might be something that changes over time and with each situation as I don't think I've got a consistent answer about this myself.

Maybe I need to sign up some hamsters with better powers of observation!

Hope it went well, CosmoLadybug 💝

Saving up for large meals does NOT work for me. Unless I'm so busy before and after that I don't get the chance to miss the calories beforehand or have and "endless" meal.

    Fwiw

A doctor once suggested eating about 2 cupped handfuls for meals - inclusive salads, soups, starches, freggies, meats - essentially volume matters.

After pondering, realized I liked feast/restaurant sized meals - like it's a party -- every meal!

Clearly, that's too much if calorie dense foods - hence 'volumemetrics' book rang my bell when it came out. I think this is the trick for me with having salads and broth veg soups often for volume.

Judith Beck pink book - the Beck diet solution??? Can't quite remember the name. Book essentially about a Cognitive Behavior (CBT) approach to gaining skills needed to manage weight.

In one chapter, she suggests practicing eating regular sized meals instead of larger less calorie dense meals — because, if/when you go back to old ways of eating higher density foods, it would be easy because you kept your stomach over-stretched.

I don't know. Personaly I find the low-density foods helpful and emotionally satisfying, so doing that at least for now.
