Do you have flowers there, Yooly?

I think I remember you saying you don’t really get the same spring flowers that we get here… But I can’t remember for sure

Nope - no real spring other than wildflowers here. Cacti send ups few flowers. Most trees don’t lose leaves over winter so they are green year round.

No crocus, tulips, hyacinths, or daffodils because of insufficient cold weather for bulbs. If you want those you have to refrigerate the bulbs for six week and then plant outdoors. They aren’t perennial.

Also no forsythia, lilacs, blooming apple trees, wisteria , dogwood, camellia or azaleas either. We do have a few red bud trees and purple mountain laurel that bloom for a week or two if we have sufficient rain.

That sounds so wonderful! Still many very frozen snow banks here. I missed the big Hamilton snowstorm that was followed by a few warmish days that softened and melted the snow a bit before it was flash frozen again. I'm sure things are coming up under there - but have yet to see them.

I would miss this so much, Yooly. Spring with all her capricious attitude is my favourite. Just hanging on to every moment of sunshine than having your hope for an early spring dashed to the ground makes the spectacular arrival so exciting!

Ya know - somehow this doesn’t inspire a stroll in the park. I’ll be punishing the treadmill thank you very much!

Nope. I'll stay up here where a frigid winter keeps these bad boys away!

And - I think today was my last birthday celebration kind of day :) So I'll be more attentive. :)

Thanks Laurie! Mercifully most rational people still love their neighbors. So much I’d love to say on this topic but this isn’t the place to air my views.

Us lowly humans don't get to make the rules though. But we can try to maintain sanity between us all :)

I’m feeling utterly powerless and frustrated. Just want to live long enough for a return to decency!

Yep, me too @Yoolypr - it's a horrible feeling. Every day I wake up and give myself a pep talk…every night I go to bed disappointed and ashamed of myself. Rinse and repeat.

“Yep, me too @Yoolypr - it's a horrible feeling. Every day I wake up and give myself a pep talk…every night I go to bed disappointed and ashamed of myself. Rinse and repeat”

Perhaps the answer is to not overthink it? I’m not going to start the day determined to succeed and flogging myself as a failure at bedtime.

Recently I’ve just worked on an hour or two in advance. For example I try only to plan a controlled breakfast - get through that successfully. Then work on the time until the next meal by managing snacks, avoiding the kitchen …. Hour by hour. Some hours are good some not so much. If I mess up I work on the next hour.

I KNOW what to do to lose weight. Eventually I will regain my balance. 🥹 And you will too Bella! Would it help for you to join us here more often?

    All is well, I promise!

I am working full-time plus school full-time (did 6 credits in first 8 weeks, working on 8 credits this 8 weeks, so 14 credits this semester). Keeps me busy.

Also my middle daughter and her boyfriend were just here for 8 days in their spring break, so hanging out with them, etc. And my husband had a birthday this past weekend.
