πŸ˜€ Yesterday Annie got to play with her friend, Danny, a three year old herding dog. They chase and frolic in my fenced yard. Annie is willing to share her watering can of drinking water with him. They are a good match in size, strength, and energy. Unfortunately they have their house on the market with plans to move to an assisted living place that will miraculously allow Danny to live there.

πŸ˜€ Now that the fence is washed I'm focused on more weed removal and watering the pumpkins, sunflowers, and tomatoes.

🎡 Dancing today. I bought Annie another new toy that might keep her occupied so she doesn't bother us too much while we dance.

Happy Friday! We are going into a heat wave starting tomorrow. Today maybe a little rain but some sunshine so hopefully I can get to pool for a little while before the surprise party for Cheryl. I hope it is a surprise but will let you know tomorrow. I went to the funeral home where we saw the presentation and I think even though it is a little more money than my original plan it would all be done by the home and make it very easy for my children. I will talk to my kids before signing anything but it sounds like the best plan. He also talked to me about a plan that cost $500 for if you die over 75 miles away. For example if I died visiting one of my kids this plan would make arrangements to pick up my body and bring it back to the funeral home for my cremation. I am not sure I need that so want to discuss it with my kids. I hope this isn't too upsetting for any of you, especially Barbie since it hasn't been that long since you lost Jake.

Barbie, how nice for Annie to have a play date, does Bessie join in on the fun? Happy to hear your fence is done and you can concentrate on other outside things. Enjoy your dancing, I know you love it!!

Hope all is well with Lin and Jackie. Enjoy your day

Hello Sneakers. Our heatwave continues so I am taking George for his walk even earlier when there is a breeze. If we are on the moors by 6:30am we can get round in time before the heat of the sun suddenly hits. Yesterday I stayed in and watched the tennis tournament I’m following then around 9pm dragged the lawnmower from my garden shed and cut the grass. Also picked a bowl of strawberries ready for today’s breakfast. A few clouds were forming so I hoped we might get rain so I didn’t have to water pots and vegetables but this morning it was still dry, in fact it was our hottest day so far. George loved our walk and did lots of zoomies then spent the rest of today snoozing. Even Brady found a cool spot upstairs. I watched tennis then late afternoon went into my garden to do some tidying but quickly realised it was just too hot. We may get thunderstorms tonight or tomorrow which should clear the air and also top up my garden water containers.

Sandy, My funeral plan was bought years ago but I’ve since changed my mind about some aspects. I want it to be as simple as possible but like you with your family, don’t want to leave any sort of burden on others to have to deal with. Sounds like you are thinking of everything.

Barbie, it seems Annie is doing well and being totally spoiled and so she should be!

Lin, you are over the last page so I won’t risk losing my post. I do remember the news wasn’t very positive about moving your container of beans which is sad as everything looks so healthy.

Midnight so I must get to bed but won’t rush out for a walk with George tomorrow if it’s raining!

    Stay safe

A hot Saturday for me and no storm last night so I showered and left with George before 6:30. We walked for nearly an hour but took our time as it was muggy. With it being the Summer Solstice there were dozens of people around the prehistoric stone circles who would have watched the sun rising and shining a light on to a specific stone that marks the Leigh lines. The local post office also has a small cafe and had opened early to offer coffee and teas so a nice atmosphere.

Thunder rumbled in the distance mid morning but we’ve seen very little rain so I will eat my salmon salad evening meal then water everything.

Sorry you lost your post Lin. I do think this site is more sensitive since changes were made.

    Happy Saturday one and all.

Happy Saturday! The party was a huge success and she did admit she had thought we were up to something but wasn't sure. I was at the pool with a temp of 94 and real feel of 100. I stayed in the water to keep cool. Now I have to shower and get ready for Church so I will be back in the morning.

    Have a good day.

πŸ˜€ Sandy, one of the smartest things Jake and I did was to prepay for our end of life arrangements. We wanted cremation and no service or any event so it wasn't expensive. I think your having everything preplanned and prepaid will be a great kindness for your family. It will help them to have things paid for and even more so to know that the arrangements are what you wanted. My father died in 1988 and I still remember my mother's anguish at the funeral home trying to decide what my father would have wanted. Money wasn't a problem but the decisions tore her up. She probably spent way more than she needed to because she didn't want to feel like she was trying to get a bargain for him.

πŸ˜€ Lin, I've lost so many posts that now I automatically click on the button that says "Save Draft" at the end of every sentence.

πŸ˜€ Jackie, I love walking early with the dogs.

πŸ˜€ Bessie doesn't play although lately she has learned to bark excitedly when she sees someone walking down the street. She tolerates Annie's attempts to play with her but doesn't like to spend much time outdoors.

πŸ˜€ I was planning a big day of using my leaf blower to clear the driveway, walks, patio and rocky area in front of the house as well as blowing grass from underneath the lawn mower. Instead it rained all night and most of the morning so instead I did work inside.

πŸ˜€ Today I took down two of Jake's baseball framed posters from the wall in the dance room (formally known as the hobby room) and put up cat paintings that were in the bedroom. I spend a lot of time in the dance room but only sleep and read in the dark in the bedroom. I don't need decoration in there.

πŸ˜€ Jake loved to buy new cleaning products and I am currently working at using them up so I can go back to my own simplicity. Today when I was cleaning window sills, I opened the curtains and pulled up the blind in the guest room and Annie was delighted. She was thrilled to be able to lie on the bed and look out the window. I decided to keep the room that way so she could have another happy spot.

πŸ˜€ I'm treating myself to Cherry Garcia in my grocery order for tomorrow.

Hello, another very hot and windy day. Even with the water restrictions, I took a very nice shower this morning. Even double washed my hair. Third load of laundry too.

Zoom exercise classes and I started to try a die set I am hoping to use for Christmas. It isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I need to cut off a little bit of the die cut on each one but the shape is asymmetrical so it cannot just be flipped. Good thing it is early. πŸ˜‚

Barbie, making little changes that suit you and the doggies better. Wonderfu! Oh, and Ben and Jerry’s has a vegan, gluten free version of the Cherry Garcia. I tried it a few days ago. Yummy!

Sandy, saw the photos on Facebook of Cheryl’s party. Looked like fun. πŸ₯³

Jackie, take care, I hear the heat wave has not diminished. Maybe that’s not true?

    Best wishes to everyone.

Happy Sunday! Today we are celebrating both Cheryl and Marisa's birthdays. I thought it was just for Cheryl but they decided to just celebrate both. Fine with me, it gives me time to stay home this week. It is another hot day but we will be inside.

Lin, you are very consistent with your zoom exercises, I give you credit. I exercise when I can but that doesn't seem often when I am not home enough.

Barbie, after making funeral arrangement for Babe and what it cost for a wake and all that goes with it I said I am not spending all that money on mine. I really don't like wakes, I would rather remember the person alive than seeing them in a coffin. I don't think Babe even looked like himself. So now that my Church allows cremation that is what I doing. I already paid for my niche at the cemetery which is in the same wall as my sister. And if I can get all done by the funeral home I would rather spend the extra money. Talking to my kids about funeral arrangement is very difficult as they don't want to talk about it so I will just do what I want to do. Thanks for listening.

    Jackie, hope all is well.

    Have a good day.

My post has disappeared again as I typed! It has been a cooler day and quiet. Tennis final was very good but predictable and this evening it became misty as rain arrived. That’s it in a nutshell!

Hi, the usual hot dayβ€”-watering the new grass and the containers, Zoom exercise classes, cut more samples of the dies I am experimenting with, watched online church, and found out it got so hot today that one container of my lettuce was killed. It looked Iike I baked it in the oven.

Well, the heat wave is supposed to crack early in the week and then we will have a chance of rain each day.

I wish I had gone to the gas station last week. I didn’t go due to the heat, but I am guessing the prices will take a huge jump tomorrow. Or maybe they already have I just don’t know it.

πŸ˜€ Sandy, I remember that when Jake and I met with the first funeral guy he told me that it was difficult for many people to pre-plan because the seemed to feel that if they didn't talk about dying, then maybe it wouldn't happen. Your arrangements are for you to decide. You are so busy with travel and parties and the pool and friends, it's not surprising that you don't have time for exercising.

πŸ˜€ Yesterday I met with one friend on Zoom, another for a walk with Annie, and another by phone.

πŸ˜€ Lin, I'd probably like exercise classes on Zoom but Annie is so distracting and pushy that she would interrupt too often. She is getting better when I dance with my friend on Friday mornings, but even so, we have to stop the music a few times to deal with her need to be noticed.

πŸ˜€ Jackie, glad you are enjoying tennis. Does George watch with you?

πŸ˜€ Got up early this morning (before daylight). Dogs have gone back to sleep.

Happy Monday! The birthday dinner was great, they were both happy. Today I am going for a dental cleaning and then stopping my Chery's house to pick up ribs Marisa made and wants me to try. Cheryl may or may not be home and if not both dogs are at her house. I said I would take them out one at a time because I can't handle two dogs especially since Gunner weights about 120 pounds. I did not sleep well and hope I can get a nap in this afternoon.

Barbie, believe me I get enough steps in when I am running around and so far I am maintaining my weight to where I want. I really don't like to walk that much as it hurts my back. I prefer my bike but will take what I can to keep healthy.

Jackie, sorry you lost your post. I do not like this new format either.

Lin, sorry you lost your lettuce. It is brutal out there with this heat. I walked to my friends house yesterday who is only a block away and it was so hot. We are expecting rain tomorrow and Wednesday. Hopefully it will cool down a little so we can all breathe outside.

Time to shower and get ready to get my teeth sparkly. Have a fun day.

Good morning. Our heatwave has broken and so long as we don’t now get 2 months of rain I’m happy! I may have mentioned before that George refuses to eat when it is very hot so thankfully he is now beginning to nibble at small amounts. Too much gets thrown away because it is raw so can’t hang around for long. I was going to pop into town for fresh veggies this morning but decided last minute to wait until this evening so that on the way I can drop off 3 pots of varieties of mint and Oregano for Linda. I split mine after they became pot bound. I have offered to follow her to her garage early tomorrow then bring her home while they sort out a problem with lots of lights going on and off on her dashboard. I’m sure we will stop for coffee and cake somewhere! I could take the pots then but she is not a morning person so I won’t add another item to the mix! Nothing much else planned so, since it is raining, I will walk George locally then do some housework because having doors and windows open brought in too much dust.

Barbie, George does sit with me when I watch tv. The only programmes he takes notice of have dogs in them and if they are running around I have to explain they are not in the room! He is not a lapdog so only snuggles occasionally but has a large fluffy bed to curl up in. There is another dog bed next to the dining table so wherever I am he settles close by.

Keep safe in this mad world!

Hi, my Internet connection was very unreliable yesterday. I lost connection so many times! Well, we have had rain and the temperature has dropped. Looks like the Internet is having a much more reliable day as well.

The roofing contractor was here yesterday and I looked over quite a few gray shingle samples but he said he thought I would be happier with black and truth be told, a small snippet really doesn’t give much of an idea of how it will look all over a roof. Black it is.

Jackie, I am glad your heat wave has broken and that George is eating again. Happy coffee with your friend. It always sounds so good!

Sandy, so all sparkly now? I was talking to a friend yesterday and she and her husband were going to get their teeth cleaned and their appointments were at 4pm. Kind of late in the day!

Barbie, one of the Zoom instructors has a dog fostering program. We never know how many dogs she will have in her little home studio. Most of them are quiet but every once in a while she has a barker. She has to be extra cautious. Usually, the dogs all pick a spot and just sleep. Another instructor has a fairly young golden and the dog can tend to get antsy with the duration of a class, particularly around her supper time. Last week, the instructor tripped over a dog toy mid-class. πŸ‘€

Well, I best move along. Be safe!

Happy Tuesday! Another hot day but rain is coming this afternoon. I am going to try to get to pool for a couple of hours before the rain. I have lots of appointments coming up in the next few weeks so need to get to the pool when I can. We have the family reunion July 30 - August 5 so want to be ready to go. My daughter and her husband will be flying in on July 29 to spend the night with me before driving the 3 hours the next day. We stop at Costco to buy supplies for the air BNB. Since my SIL pays for the rental I try to help with buying breakfasts and other food. She appreciates my help.

Lin, glad your internet is working better today. A black roof sounds pretty, what color is the rest of your house. Sounds like fun with the zoom instructor and dogs. It has been so hot here that my son is only letting his dogs out for a short time which I am happy about. They usually spend almost all day outside so I am glad he is being responsible.

Jackie, sorry George doesn't eat when it is hot. I think Rob has the same problem with his dogs. Daisy used to sit and watch dogs on TV as well. I thought it was adorable.

Barbie, hope all is well with you and the pups.

    Have a good day all.

😁 When we replaced our roof, the house was brown so we got a brown roof. A few years later when we decided to paint the house, we had to choose a paint color that went with the brown. All my paint choices needed a black roof so we ended up with Jake's choice which I like but wasn't the blue that I wanted.

πŸ˜€ I loved all the stories about dogs joining the exercise. Annie gets a little better each day but she loves attention.

πŸ˜€ Daughter texted that she'll be headed up here this weekend arriving some time on Sunday. It will be good to see her.

πŸ˜€ My internet was goofy today. I made several calls to the company and two of them got dropped while someone was trying to help me. Finally I made an appointment for a technician to come on Thursday and five minutes later the internet came back on and has been fine ever since so I cancelled the appointment. I have a DVD player and lots of movies so while the internet was down, I watched "The Great Escape", one of my all time favourites. I can access the internet and email on my phone so TV was the only casualty of this episode.

Already gone midnight and I’m ready for my bed. My day with Linda was interrupted by a call she got from someone cutting grass for the football club she volunteered to help so as happened a month or so ago, we ended up with me driving us to a field in the middle of nowhere so she could talk about the length of the grass!! I think she is regretting getting involved because she doesn’t even like football. We did finally get our coffee and cake in a nearby tourist spot where people put hard hats on for a tour down into caves and because the cakes were so good, added it to our list of go-to coffee shops. We didn’t go into the caves!!

It started to rain when I got home so planned gardening had to be put off. Early start tomorrow for grocery shopping.

    Nite, nite 😴

Good evening. The roofers are going to try to work here tomorrow so I have been moving my remaining plant pots on the deck to as safe as possible place as possible and brought in my glass rain gauge. Ready as I can be.

I had a small Walmart grocery order to pickup this morning but the rain had flooded many streets and we were urged to wait awhile before driving. I waited as long as possible and it worked out. No ponding on the road. No accidents on my route. Yippee!

Zoom classes again and today one instructor had a new puppy adopted from a shelter. It is cute and it was quiet. Very surprising.

I had a short conversation with a friend this afternoon. Her family arrives from Texas tomorrow to spend some time They have their Holiday celebration every July including gift gifting. She said she is ready! Last year they all contracted Covid She is hoping every stays healthy this year.

Happy Thursday! Another hot day today but going to let dogs out so no pool or meeting. Rob works from home tomorrow and Lisa and kids should be home Saturday or Sunday. Her mom is driving with her so she should be available for some sitting before they go back to Florida in the Fall.

Lin, good luck with the roofer, too bad you didn't live here my nephew is a roofer. Glad you were able to get your Walmart order with no incidents.

Jackie, Linda sounds like she got herself into a situation that she wishes she could get out of. At least you found a nice place for your coffee and cake. The caves sound interesting but not sure I could handle them.

Barbie, I did post that video on Facebook and my kids did laugh so thank you.

πŸ˜€ That funeral video is a song from the 60's that I remember from when I had the record in college. It's one of the many old songs I listen to on YouTube during the day.

πŸ˜€ Our weather here has been overcast and chilly with temps in the 60's which is not too appealing for working in the yard. Most of my work is finished. Now I need sunshine and heat for the things I planted. Annie and I walked with walking friend at noon. Annie likes to walk more when someone is with us.

πŸ˜€ We'll walk by ourselves after supper because our regular walking friend has been invited to a garden party.

πŸ˜€ I keep finding new shows to watch on TV so I'm doing a lot of exercise bike reading and knitting. I should vacuum but picking up Annie's toys first is a challenge so I decided to put it off until tomorrow.

I’m yawning away as it is nearly midnight. First thing I managed to leave quietly without George and shopped to restock my freezer. Once everything was put away I drove to a lower section of moors just round the corner from home so we could stay out of strong winds and George enjoy lots of new areas to sniff every blade of grass. No one around to chat to, just a few sheep with their growing lambs that I cheerily greet! I have planted more beans that grew from a newly bought batch, and tied the peas that are beginning to climb so they can reach supports. I have also managed to knock the new metal stake into my lawn that the new washing rotary line sits in. It has been a pleasant day but I gather the heat is returning and that will mean early walks. My tomato and cucumber plants will be happy so long as I keep watering them. I enjoyed a small variety with salad this evening along with more strawberries.

I’ve no specific plans for tomorrow so will hopefully spend time weeding out the spent Spring annuals.

    Everyone take care.

    Hello

I now live in a house with a new roof! They had a crew of 10 here today. My brain was turning to mush from all the hammering before they finished.

The roof is paid for. All I need is the form from my insurance company to get completed (I don’t know what they want ) but for a discount on my homeowners insurance I will try.

Now my Kinnetico water system needs servicing and I have an appointment scheduled. Good grief, their fees have increased!

A strong storm hit this area with 60+ mph winds and driving rain late this afternoon. I was also glad the tree in front was trimmed back nicely.

Barbie, it is great to find things to watch. I am always running into an interesting old show.

Jackie, oooh, strawberries! Yummmy. You got a lot of gardening chores finished. Grow peas grow!

Sandy, no pool and no meeting doesn’t seem like a Thursday.

    Diane! Happy Birthday πŸ₯³πŸ°πŸŽ

Happy Friday! Another hot day with showers on and off. Started laundry early so I can try to go to pool before the rain. Tonight there are 14 of us who are going to a place called the Big Game Room where we will compete against each other in different types of games from trivia to I don't know what. Then we are going for pizza. It is mostly Cheryl's family to celebrate her birthday again because she really wants to go here with a bunch of people. Her 60th will always be remembered.

Lin, congrats on the new roof, any pictures? More expenses on your water filtration, sorry. We had those strong winds and rain yesterday, they just lasted a few minutes.

Jackie, I hope you got a good night's sleep with all you do. Hopefully, today was a good walking day.

Barbie, I hope it warms up for you to do your gardening.

Have a good day my friends.
