I guess I need to post my current book, especially since it is so good.

EVERY HOUR UNTIL THEN by Gabrielle Meyer.

WOW!! Two 5+* books this month. I was pretty sure that EVERY HOUR UNTIL THEN by Gabrielle Meyer would qualify and it surpassed expectations. The early plot was about Jack The Ripper.

I have been working through Jo Grafford's Texas Hotline series. This is about a K9 SAR training facility. I have really enjoyed it. I could get it in 3 boxed sets through Audilble plus. I am currently almost done with the last book. I have two new books checked out on libby, and then so many available through my kindle, hoopla, and the Audible plus. I have pretty much decided at the end of this audible trial that I am going to go to the audible plus subscription. You don't get the credits for the new books 1 per month, but you have full access to the plus library (bunches of CF!) for 7.95 a month. I will probably keep it for a few months and then make the decision on going back to KU. I really miss it, but a lot of the books are on audible, so I'm getting some of them that way.

I wish I could train myself to do audio books, but I just can't keep up with them. I seem to need the reading format for retention, remembering names, etc.

I've read some mainstream fiction occasionally, but am about to start Under the Magnolias by T. I. Lowe. Anyone familiar with that author or title? It will be my first by her.

Carole - That is a great book. All of her books are! The only issue I found is some mild slang. I rated that one 5*, even with the slang.

I got started on audiobooks when I traveled with work. My step daughters told me that I needed audiobooks for driving, so they got me some for Christmas that year (books on TAPE!). They are the culprits in getting me addicted, and books on tape tells you how long ago. I rarely read an entire book, now. If it is an ebook, I will read part and listen to most with the text-to-voice capability. When Bill and I traveled on vacations and trips to see my parents, we always listened to books and many times the Bible. Libraries became important about then, but I also bought quite a few.

I use the text-to-voice most of the time, but when Wade is ready to go to sleep I'll switch to reading since taking out and putting away the earpiece makes too much noise! I like text-to-voice better than a professionally done audiobook because I can put the emotions I am feeling into the story rather than depending on the reader's emotions.

I finished the second book in a re-read and am actually 75% of the way through the third book. This series has a strong Christian message but is definitely fantasy. I started a new re-read of a missionary story, but I can't remember the missionaries name right now - fatigue is heavy today.

I finished WHERE SECRETS LIE by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker. This was a definite 5* read.

I am listening to TO CAPTURE A MOUNTAIN MAN by Robin Lee Hatcher. I am enjoying this one. This is the second in a series.

I am reading THE ROSEWOOD DIARIES by Kari Trumbo. Boy it is a departure from her norm…it's very sad. Hopefully the family heals and it ends on a positive note.

I couldn't find it on Hoopla, Libby or my library, so it will go on my wish list!

I'm still working through HEAVEN FOUND IN AN OUTCAST by Lilah Rivers. I got several of her books for free. They are easy reading, and so far not bad.

I'm on the first story in LOVE STITCHED IN BLUE AND GRAY, five stories told during the Civil War. So far so good.

I finished LOVING THE OUCAST'S REDEMPTION by Misty Beller. Very good.

I'm on the third story in DANGER IN THE SHADOWS and at least sticking with this one.

I'm re-listening to JOHN FLYNN a missionary in the Outback of Australia. It's very good.

I'm also listening to FORTIFIED by V Romas Burton, a mild fantasy.

Kim - I LOVED the book, but it is probably something that Cindy or Carole would enjoy more than you. More a women's fiction type book, but so good! All three of her books have been 5+ stars for me. They are all very different, so it is hard to say a favorite.

When I saw Women's Fiction (Wm Fict) beside the book I wondered! LOL. Thanks for the head's up!

I am currently reading GUILTY UNTIL INNOCENT by Robert Whitlow. I used to love John Grisham books, but when I started reading CF, I loved Robert Whitlow's legal suspense. It's been a long time since I have read anything by him and this is really good.

It's been years since I read Robert Whitlow too.

I'm really enjoying COLLISION COURSE by Jorgia Yates. This story is really easy to read and I just wanted to keep going, but 1 AM rolled around and I was finally getting sleepy…

I'm reading ADONIRAM JUDSON by Edward Judson and J Hess, very good. Has more information than the one by the Benges.

I finished the first story in the CONVENIENTLY WED multi-author anthology. The first was by Lacy Williams and was pretty good. Next is Misty Beller.

I am bored with the first story in LOVED STITCHED IN BLUE AND GRAY. The beginning was more interesting than it is the farther along I get. I'm skipping forward to the ending and on to the next story.

I'm re-reading a series from many years ago, I don't even remember the stories! The first one is DRAGONS OF STARLIGHT (the dragons are the bad guys in this story) which does have a very mild Christian message. I finished the first one and have started the second one.

I gave up trying to post from my phone. I don't know if it is the application or what, but it kept closing down on me. Here are the last few books that I have read. They were all good, but the Jessica Ashely was probably the best. Here goes, and it actually didn't close on me:

    LEFT AT THE ALTAR

    Margaret Brownley

    hist

    MOUNTAIN ABDUCTION RESCUE

    Darlene L Turner

    LIS

    ECHO

    Jessica Ashley

I hate this new format, it leaves large spaces and joins words together. I have to go through a fix everything before I can post it! I've tried doing it PDF as well but end up with the same thing. The only way its worked is when I get it all edited on one group and then copy and paste it on my other group!

I'm still re-reading a fantasy series and enjoying it again - almost like I never read it!

I'm reading ECHOS OF THE IMPERIUM by Angela Shelton, a YA dystopian, book 2 in the series. I'm enjoying the series so far.

I'll finish AMISH COUNTRY KIDNAPPING this evening, by Mary Alford. It's been pretty good, but too often the bad guys are right on hand to know where they are and try to kill one of them. Then last night I couldn't figure out what was going on. They went to the Bishop's house and the Bishop's son was going to be there to help protect her, but the next morning the Bishop goes off to do his stuff and so does his son so she and her cop/friend/ex-love are there alone with the Bishop's wife! Of course, the bad guys know where they are and try to kill them, but the other deputies are there before they can do any harm. It's not suspenseful when the same stuff keeps happening over and over!

I'm working on ADONIRUM JUDSON by Edward Judson, a more extensive biography than others I've listened to.

I'm reading another one about a guy who is a marshal on flights, and he and his wife are separated. She is nearly blown up and has lost part of her memory and still believes they are married. He has to be part of this group called Hightower so he can help her remember but not tell her that they are separated. It got a bit too steam in a couple of places so I quit reading it.

I am currently reading THE BILLIONAIRE’S BODYGUARD by Tamie Dearen. I am just getting started on it. I have access right now to so many audiobooks, that I need to make myself go to my kindle and read (or listen, there). I want to keep my streak going, so I need to get a little kindle reaing going every day. When I have libby ebooks checked out, they go to kindle and that makes me more likely to read them because of due dates.

I am listening to THE TRUTH WE SEEK by Lisa Phillips. This is book #4 in the series. It is very good.

I made my decision on my next subscription. I decided to stay with audible and do their 1 credit every 2 months. It is $17 every other month and I have full access to the plus catalog all of the time. I was thinking about doing just the plus subscription, but it was 7.95 a month. I figured it would be worth the $1.10 extra and get a free book that I will own every other month.

I read most of that series, Cindy and for the most part enjoyed it. It's a neat concept!

I finished a couple of stories I was reading: ECHOS OF THE IMPERIUM a YA dystopian story. I really enjoyed this one. This was book two. AMISH COUNTRY KIDNAPPING by Mary Alford. I liked the story, but there were too many times that the bad guys found the good guys and tried to kill the guy and kidnap the gal. At one point they are going to stay with the Bishop and his wife and his friend, the Bishop's son was going to be there to keep them safe. Well, in the morning the Bishop and his son both leave and the bad guys come in and do some damage before the deputies get there, again, just in the nick of time. I'm working on the second book AMISH COUNTRY UNDERCOVER by Katy Lee.

I started SILVER SONG by A J Parks, a "fantasy" that seems to follow the settling of this country, but with made up nations and peoples.

I'm still reading ADONIRAM JUDSON and really enjoying it.

I am reading a Natalie Dean boxed set. It is a Prime book, so it looked like a good choice. It is The Baker Brothers of Copper Creek. I'm currently on book #7 (the last one): COWBOY’S MOM FINDS LOVE. It's pretty good.

I am trying to listen to EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSIE by Courtney Walsh. It will be funny, I'm sure, I just haven't gotten far into it, and it always takes me a while to get into her books.

  • connierandel
    connierandel Posts: 2,369 Member

I finished the Baker Brothers boxed set. They were very good, but not overtly Christian in content.

I also finished EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSIE by Courtney Walsh. This was very good, but no Christian content at all. This is the 3rd in a row of her books that are listed either Christian or Religious and are under Christian fiction on hoopla and libby. This is very disappointing to me. I think there might have been a slight slang, and the girl kept trying to 'Not Lie' but rather not tell all, but it could have been a great story if she would have had redeeming factors in the book…AARG.

I don't mind reading clean fiction as long as I am not expecting Christian Fiction.

I also finished GREETINGS FROM NEXT DOOR by Chautona Havig….Great story, and definitely a Christian focus. I needed that .

I agree with your statement about not minding clean as long as you are not expecting Christian. It is frustrating to also pick what I believe to be Christian and the characters are angry at God or so nominal in their faith they can't even be considered as a Christian. The lying thing is also something of a frustration as well - it's not okay, even when trying to not hurt someone's feelings, but in a number of stories, they just lie to cover their tails! Christians have to hold to a higher standard - we are God's children!

I'm still listening to the Adoniram Judson biography. It is really a moving story, especially when he is sent to a Burman prison for being a Christian and the horrors that he faces there. His wife is able to see him on occasion and give him food and a blanket and pillow. She suffers deprivations as well as their new born daughter. Despite what he goes through, his heart continues to be with the Burmese!

I have a few other books going as well, getting a little bit read in each other them.

I finished UNCHARTED REDEMPTION by Keely Brooke Keith. I think I liked this better than the first one. I'm enjoying the series so far and just downloaded Book 3: UNCHARTED INHERITANCE. I'm actually surprised that I'm enjoying it because a lot of the reviews include, "If you like Amish novels…" and those are generally not on my list.

  • Restfinder

I didn't think Amish when I read them, more like old-fashioned.

I am reading THE PUZZLE WITHIN by Gina Holder. I haven't gotten very far in it, but I'm sure it will be good. I have enjoyed the books I have read by her.

I am listening to BACHELOR TO THE RESCUE by Lorraine Beatty (Love Inspired). I really like them for something light. And I really enjoy the Love Inspired Suspense for shorter romantic suspense.

I purchased a couple of Christy Barritt audio books when they were on sale on Audible for about $3 each. But, they were books 1 & 3 in the series. I finally decided that I needed to use a credit for book 2. They will be coming up soon. I also checked out several Lacy Williams Wagon Train audios from hoopla. They will balance themselves well…I like my genres totally different when doing 2 books.

I think you will enjoy those last mentioned series

I'm working my way through five books. I finished one that I really liked, a fantasy and am about halfway through another that is in a made-up world but ties into the founding of our country and the ones who came over for the gold and didn't care what happened to the natives. In this story they just say, "Kill them all." But one soldier saves a girl when he sees his commander had lied to them. It's pretty good - SILVER SONG by A J Park.

I'm also reading THE PEASANT QUEEN, and Esther retelling by Ashton E Dorow. It's not retelling Esther but rather using it as a reference for the story. There is a peasant who goes through a process and ends up as queen. This king is bound on revenge for the killing of his parents and has consumed his land in revenge. She is slowly changing his heart.

I'm still enjoying the ADONIRAM JUDSON biography as well.

I'm on the second story of the CONVENIENTLY WED anthology. This one is by Misty Beller and is about Sampson Coulter, the brothers who mine for sapphires. I was not into it at all until I got to where he brings this woman to her father and he forces them to wed - her father is the man who stole 1 years worth of sapphires from the family - that's when the lightbulb went off and I recognized the name.

Aarg. I had the whole post already typed out, but went back to look up the exact title of a book and it obliterated my post.

I am almost finished with MEET ME ON LILAC LANE by Andrea Christensen. This is book 2, but there was a prequel, too. I am enjoying the series. More of them to come.

I am really enjoying THE PUZZLE WITHIN by Gina Holder. A couple of federal agents are called to be a bodyguard for a teenage daughter of a diplomat. They lose her in an escape room on their first day with her and are both put on unpaid leave and are trying to find her. Enough said.

I'm still reading The Uncharted series by Keely Brooke Keith. I finished CHRISTMAS WITH THE COLBURNS (book4) and just downloaded UNCHARTED HOPE (book 5).
