WEIGH IN UPDATE
REMINDER TO WEIGH IN TOMORROW TO @Cornanda @davors19 @littlebabekitty @trooworld @trooworld @trooworld @vegan4lyfe20120 -
@trooworld The cats have been pretty mellow since surgery for the most part, now that they’re together they aren’t yelling back and forth. I know what you mean at PT, I’d guess it’s similar as far as PT. There’s TENS units which mostly just mask pain but these days they’ll have some other type of programs where it’s more like micro current where it can get inflammation down and treat pain. That’s awesome you got in so fast to PT! I hope the x-rays show you can improve it with PT and won’t need surgery. That recipe sounds awesome! Oh man yeah crusty bread would be great with that.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you! There’s something to be said for being able to talk to someone else trying to stay strong, I’m glad she inspired you to lose weight before you see her again. I’ve been eating my veggies I’m drowning in them!
Hi gang! I saw a challenge to eat the alphabet and showed a friend and we’re doing it, it’s harder than you’d think! The school the greenhouse is at was locked this morning so I went to the community garden to harvest and trim and came home to clean up the kitten room and do mushroom stuff then went back and was able to get in the greenhouse. I talked to a woman today who is interested in the calico kitten, her and her husband are going to come over tomorrow and meet her. I’m excited for her but sad it’s already time for them to leave. They have dogs and three kids and their last cat lived to 21, the woman has always had cats and misses it. She said she’d seen one she was interested in at the adoption event and made the mistake of thinking about it and when she went back the cat was being adopted so she jumped on this one. Gremma’s outgoing and friendly she sounds perfect for them. Off to water the rest of the yard have a great Friday!

@vegan4lyfe2012 I love that you found inspiration with your dental hygienist. I’ve had to cancel my last two cleanings because of Joe, and I miss my dental hygienist, whom I’ve had since I moved here 20 years ago. 🙂
@Katmary71 I admire your resolve not to keep all those kitties! 😀I don’t get nervous helping Joe stand up, but Maggie seems to think it’s a major ordeal and needs to bark her head off. My calming voice is helping sometimes, but not nearly enough! 🙄 Eating the alphabet sounds fun and challenging. I hope Gremma will love her new family!
@trooworld I’m glad that you have an action plan to help your knee feel better. I’ve heard so much about the importance of having good hip muscles to support our knees and back. 😕
Good morning! I woke up early after not getting a good night’s sleep due to Joe and his many dreams. Sometimes he sleeps so still, and other nights it’s a full-blown party. So, I’m gonna be tired today! We have a church couple who are supposed to visit this afternoon. I’m torn between wanting to see them and not wanting to have to put on real clothes. 😀 OK, that is about it for me. I’m off to work out. Have a good day!2 -

@trooworld - Your soup looks good. I'm going to save the recipe. I would eat soup all year, but Rich says it's not "soup season". 🙄 Food rules!

@littlebabekitty nice loss!
@trooworld So glad you’re feeling better! That’s awesome you responded so fast to the treatment! Oh no I’m sorry to hear about the skinnytaste recipe, that’s one I haven’t tried and won’t after your review. Thanks for the soup recipe!
@TeresaW2024 Shoot I’m sorry to hear about you and Joe having bad sleep. Sounds like you crushed your workout!
@micaroo4 I’m like Rich though if it’s for lunch I still like it. It’s in the 100s here today so no soup for dinner!
Hi friends! The meeting with the adopter and her two daughters went well, they’re going to take both girls. They have a male dog that marks a lot and they’re worried he’d be more likely to do it with male cats or Griege would be gone too. They’re going to all get micro chipped tomorrow and they’re going to meet me at Petco after the one daughter’s softball game. Great family I’m happy for all of them especially the kitties! Was at the farm and got mushroom stuff done (of course they’re doing great now!) and did the basil bundles for the produce boxes and farm stand. I have a lot to do in my garden but I’m worn out so probably won’t get far. Have a great Sat!

Hello slim friends! How is it that summer days just FLY!!??
I am sitting on a plane writing this so you don't think I have disappeared:).
It has been a full week, of puppies, dinner theatre and festivals. Every single night I plan to catch up here and then I don't. I am headed to BC for the weekend with my mom to visit my brother and his family. This is the first time we have flown out, it is a lovely treat. My mom is 97 and said the driving would be too much.
I am trying to stick with food sequencing and am probably successful about 50% of the time. When I am home it is easy, but not so much when I am out and about. I only went to the gym on Tuesday, the rest of the week was too crazy.
My son and daughter-in-law adopted a new cat♥️. She is just beautiful and so sweet, but not the biggest fan of dogs.
Vannie is staying with them this weekend so I went over there several evenings this week so we could do a slow introduction. Vannie was very good with her, but then she made a quick move the cat (Tav) got scared, hissed and batted at Vannie and now Vannie it's worried🥴. She didn't try to hurt her, she was just setting boundaries. I'm sure they will work it out😊.
@Katmary71 my typical WI is Sunday but we don't get back until Tuesday . I did weigh myself this morning so I could post that or wait until Wednesday. What would be best?
K folks, we landing soon. Hope everyone has a great weekend!! I will post this tonight when we settle in:)

Let's see, I bought some protein snacks and shakes, creatine and a "squat machine" ($150 on sale) during Amazon Prime. With my MS, I felt I needed the metal frame and seat as support, around me… 😐️]

Good morning Slimpossibles!
I have neglected to post an Ice Breaker Question. I think of questions from time to time, but then when I come online to post, they have gone "poof" right out of my head. So, I'm posting one now, before I forget again!
ICE BREAKER QUESTION: If you were a literary character, who would you be? I would be Thursday Next.
This CGM that I'm wearing is great motivation. Tracking and monitoring my daily weight has been my standard program for maintenance. Adding the feedback from the CGM results in better food choices and fewer cravings. If I'm feeling hungry, I check my blood sugar before deciding whether or not to eat, and what. Every snack choice has me thinking "what is this going to do to my blood sugar", rather than "will this exceed my calories for the day". Eating more slowly has been a goal of mine for years, and now I'm finally doing it - motivated to not cause a spike. I'm starting every meal with a non-starchy vegetable (to tame the spikes) which is resulting in consuming more greens. I'm choosing more protein over carbohydrates. The best part is that these behaviors to tame the blood sugar spikes has made cravings for sweets all but disappear. I've only been out of my glucose range (over 140) for 20 minutes all week. Next week, I'll try to stay under 130.
I keep wondering 🤔 what if tighter glucose control is the key to everything? Better sleep, definitely. Reduced cravings, also true. Weight management? Seems like it. I'm still tracking food, but it appears that staying in my glucose range will automatically keep me in my calories range as well. The CGM costs me $90 per month, but it feels so worth it! Insurance companies should be covering these devices for free; they would have healthier patients and reduce their overall costs. Doctors should be handing them out like lollipops 🍭! IMHO

@Katmary71 I’m glad that two of the girls have found a good home to go to! I had to laugh that, of course, the mushrooms are doing great now. Isn’t that the way of things! 😀
@laurelfit57 What a beautiful kitty, and I hope she and Vannie will be nice to each other while you are going. Have a good visit with your family. I agree that a 97-year-old deserves a flight instead of a long car ride. 🙂
@trooworld The free concert in the park sounds like so much fun! I want to see your dramatic new haircut! 😎
@micaroo4 CGMs should be free to anyone who needs them. If I had real insurance, I would get one! I’m glad you are learning so much from yours. You might enjoy looking up Marty Kendall and his Optimizing Nutrition website. It’s where I learned how important glucose is to our weight management. I need to get back to his advice and yours! 🙂
Good morning! We had a better night’s sleep, so hopefully today will be better. Joe and I had an interesting conversation last night. He was very agitated when we went to bed, and his aphasia was terrible, but I did finally manage to figure out that he was upset with me. He said that he wanted his Pita back, which has been his nickname for me since the first day we met. It was painful because I know how much being his caregiver has changed me, but I didn’t realize how aware he is of the changes. I’m using it as a wake-up call to try to be better. It’s easy to forget that my Joe is still present despite his poor, demented mind and failing body. 😢 OK, I'm off to work out and try to have a good and pleasant day.2 -

@micaroo4 i agree the CGMs should be free for those who need them. They aren’t cheap my diabetic bichon was wearing one for the first few months. They were expensive! 80/90 bucks for one and wouldn’t always get the full 2 weeks (it kept falling off when her fur grew). I have 2 leftover from replacements that I’m like keeping for an emergency or if I take her with me traveling or if she boards at the vets again. Tempted to use one for myself just to see.

Hi 👋
I haven't posted in awhile, life has been kinda busy lately. Between PT, hubby's monthly retirement breakfast and just life in general.
I don't usually go to the breakfast, but Chris really wanted me to go. I did really good, I ate half my food and brought the rest home. Hubby ate it the next day. I was proud of myself for not shoveling the food down.
Today is hubby's annual IBEW picnic and there's always a lot of yummy food there, I'm going to try and be good.
My knee has been hurting extra, but I've also been moving around a lot more.
I want to cry, my beautiful Monstera hasn't perked up. She is so sad, Im going to have to cut her down and root her and start over. I'm so upset about this. My beautiful baby.
Prime day is over, I got mostly stuff for my plants, Chipper got a couple "puncture proof" soccer balls. He loves them. Hubby got some stuff that he will install and then I have to set them up. 😒 I have a little bit better understanding of electronics than he does. I looked at trikes, but decided against it because I don't have anywhere to ride it. I also looked at recumbent bikes, but nothing really caught my eye.
Y'all have a great day 😀

Reminder TO Weigh In Tomorrow To @19shmoo69 @laurelfit57 @sleepygirl79 @txcritter69@laurelfit57 You're good weighing on Tuesday, the last day of the spreadsheet week is Saturday.
Hi gang! Will catch up more tomorrow. The adoptions went so well all my fosters are gone! The three boys were adopted right at the start where I went home to rest after until the girl's family came (scheduled at the end) and I cried my eyes out on the way home! Happy for all: two girls are together, two boys are together, and the one going alone will be with two older cats with a family who got a huge kick out of the quirkiness I shared about him. I can't imagine NOT getting attached to them so guess I'll just be an emotional mess on adoption days. I stopped on the way for a coffee at Starbucks and it was knocked over by someone so even though it was a good choice for there I didn't get to drink much. Was tempted for ice cream but had watermelon instead. Looking forward to sleeping in then getting in some garden time it's a mess in my yard right now!

@TeresaW2024 - My Dad doesn't like hearing this, and you probably won't either. Unless you have some help with the care giving- it erodes your role as a spouse. Having breaks helps you recharge your batteries so you can keep going. It frees up some time for you to just BE with your spouse without having tasks that need to be done. Something to think about as you make plans for the future. My Dad does have some help- but not enough. It has affected his health, he has given up most of the activities that he enjoys, he leaves Mom alone- which he should not do. He is not open to making changes at this time. I'm not saying this to make you feel bad- there's nothing for you to feel bad about as you are doing SO MUCH for Joe. It is very hard to accept help and there can be a lot of guilt that goes with that. However, it's easy to ignore the other side of that issue….. and that can lead to burnout and other consequences. BIG HUGS to you
@micaroo4 - Interesting on the glucose control. You are very dedicated to all things health and that is definitely in your favor. My sister is an overweight type 2 diabetic on insulin and she drinks coke. She would never do any of the things that you do for yourself. She has a CGM
@trooworld - we must see your haircut and bonus points if you are wearing the leopard leggings when you take the photo
@DrewsAnna - :( on your lovely plant. Hugs!
@Katmary71 - Gosh it seems like you just got those kittens and now they are gone. And all in one day- ouch! Hugs to you…. What a big heart you have to have given them such a great start.
Just a quiet Sunday here. I'm getting my hair trimmed and will do a little shopping on my own. Gus is also getting a haircut- right now he has 3 tiny legs (trimmed) and 1 I didn't get to yet.

Good morning,
Congrats to everyone that lost this week.We are pulling out today to head back to the house. It has been a very relaxing week. Looking ahead to what is waiting for me when I return home is wanting me to stay here even longer. I have been putting off some deep cleaning because I wanted to be outdoors with diesel, but it is getting really hot here. We will be spending time in the morning doing our walks but I will be hitting that deep clean when it is time to be in the house. I have lots of pics to weed through and will post a few more later this week.

Hi 👋
The picnic was fun yesterday. Very relaxing, hung out with a friend and their family. We hadn't seen the family in a long time, so it was nice to catch up.
We were a couple hours late (as we usually are) for almost everything lol... so they had ran out of some foods. I had some pulled pork, no bun, plain lettuce and a cookie. I drank a rootbeer. Lol… my favorite soda. Then I stuck to water. After we got home, we pretty much didn't do anything for the rest of the day.
I researched how to properly cut and propagate my Monstera, so I will try and hold back tears as I cut it down.
I wanted to go to an airshow today, but it is going to be way too hot and it will be even hotter at the little airport where the show will be at. So, we are not going. I wouldn't be able to handle the heat.
Y'all have a great day 😀
