Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July!

    Good Morning,

Ny name is Missy, I live in the tiniest state of Rhode Island with my 3 huskies and bichon (aka queen of the crew). I work full time as a payroll accountant, and have a year left of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) (4 classes left whoohoo!). I try to get to aqua or Zumba classes when I can. Been a bit up and down for the weight journey over the last few years. Was doing great then life happened and went back up to highest weight and can seem to get it together to get under 210. Looking forward to July, and getting back on track (birthday month is over lol not just mine).

    Have a great day everyone!

    Missy

@micaroo4 and @DrewsAnna I did WW too. I find I did better on their program 20 years ago. Last couple of times just frustrated me. Would eat my points but track on MFP to and was under calories. I rejoined this year tho for workshops and the group I found is very supportive. Still struggling to lose though but having a lively bunch to see every week is awesome. Still struggle to stay within points and not get frustrated. Maybe one day it will click.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you , me too! Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened. It's a good thing you got that electric lift, I'm glad you were able to get him off the floor. You were just worried, Teresa. Please don't be upset with yourself. When people get worried about a loved one, it can come out in weird ways. Good idea to buy the bed alarm. Good job not eating your feelings! HUGS.

@micaroo4 Thank you ! Good point!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you ! Yes, me too, I will be so disappointed if I can't last the day at Comic-Con! How fun that your BFF is in town! Have a wonderful time and Happy Independence Day!

@laurelfit57 Ugh that's too hot ! LOL Good to hear from you.

@Cornanda Amazing , congrats! You are DOING it!

@davors19 Congrats on the loss , yeah!

Hi all. re: WW...I have a slightly controversial opinion here, so bear with me...I was a member off and on for about 8 years. I found the meetings inspiring at times, helpful at times, but I kept losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs. It was disappointing. They ARE a business and they have an incentive for you to not lose weight IMO: the longer you are a member and trying to lose, the more money they make. And they are a public company so they have investors to please. Just my 2 cents. Happy 4th for the Americans in our group! I hope you are doing something fun to celebrate. I am going to the gym this morning, then for ramen with my SIL and DH, and then later this afternoon, there is a free concert in a local park. We will bring snacks and watch the band. It should be fun. I lost 3 lbs this week, making up for the tiny gain last week (0.2 lb gain).

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

@micaroo4 You explained my freaking out brain so well! I got a bed alarm that, if he gets up, the remote I have will light up and play a loud tune. It’s going to be a huge piece of mind and maybe keep me from unloading my fear all over my poor husband. 🙂

@vegan4lyfe2012 How wonderful that you get to enjoy the holiday with your BFF! I hope you all have a great time and that Byron loves the fireworks. 🙂

@Cornanda Congrats on losing 20.7 lbs!! You are doing amazing!! 😎

@trooworld Thanks! I’ve learned that I have to forgive myself for my outbursts and just try to do better. I completely agree with you on WW and that they are in the business of making money above all else. And as you well know, it’s not until you decide to change your life and are willing to do the hard work it takes that you will see lasting results. Congratulations on your 3-pound loss, and I hope you have a fun day! 😎

Good morning, and Happy 4th of July!! 🎆Joe is feeling a little better today after starting back on the Potassium pills, so that is good news. I was a little worried we would end up in the ER, and I definitely don’t want to be there on a freaking holiday weekend!! Today, I’m making smash burgers and sweet potato fries. We will be in bed before dark with Maggie, or she will lose her mind, as she did last night when the fireworks started going off. Have a great day, everyone! 🙂

WHAT DOES BALANCE LOOK LIKE FOR YOU ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?

For me, a big thing is forgiving with myself when I eat off-plan or miss activity, but not giving myself permission to continue to go off-plan. It also looks like baby steps. It looks like trying to take a little ground in terms of doing well with health (food, activity, etc.) and keeping it for a week or two. Once that no longer feels like a push, where else can I nudge things?

@Cornanda — Hurray for your success with Mayo!

@baodell17724 - Thanks for the reminder about mindless eating. "Pictures of food" is a good one. On a related note — when things are going well, I am very careful to go to the grocery store only after I have a list. Going hungry and without a plan is a guarantee of disaster for my eating well!

The pressure points article looks interesting! I studied pressure points some in martial arts, and they are definitely a thing. I never thought about this application. It makes sense. I eat a high fiber diet (way over the standard recs), so I had not given it much thought!

@laurelfit57 — That half day with your daughter and grandkids sounds so lovely! I am stealing that as motivation. My son is at college and not likely to marry anytime soon. So I need to get in shape andc stay healthy so I can have a day like that someday! I hope you made it to yoga and spin class.

@DrewsAnna — I am so glad this group is being helpful. It sounds like the great part of your WW experience was the social part. Do you have any friends that might be willing to, say, take a weekly walk with you? I have been thinking about this, too. I have got my husband into going for walks with me most days, as a start. I am looking at maybe hooking up with people who do hiking, as a way to move more and find new friends that move more. It's a challenge.

@micaroo4 — Wow, you and I had very similar experiences of WW. For me, add people being judge-y and unsympathetic ("you must be cheating") when I gained weight while carefully staying on the plan.

@TeresaW2024 — Big hugs regarding things with Joe. Everyone can lose theit temper when scared. I am glad you guys could talk it out. You are so right about needing to forgive yourself. It's a lot to adjust to. It's great you went on to do well with food and a workout. Keep it up, step by step. We are thinking of you.

@vegan4lyfe2012 - Did you find some ankle edema exercises? It's a pain that body parts don't cooperate, but keep trying things. You need to stay keep moving to stay healthy to keep up with all those cute grandbabies, right? :-) Have fun with Oliver at the 4th festivities!

@gemwolf110 — Hi there! Your dogs sound like some much fun, especially "the queen of the crew!" I looked up bichons, and expect that the queen is a beauty! Here's to your making progress toward 210 this month!

@davors19 — Woohoo! Great weigh-in! Keep up the great work this week!

@trooworld — Boom! What a great weigh-in! I foresee a leaderboard appearance in your future! And OMG, you are so close to just 20 pounds to go! You are not wrong about WW having an incentive for people to keep gaining/losing. It didn't work well for me, but I know some people love it.

@Katmary71 — I hope you had some nice down time with the kitties!

Hello, all. I am inside again because it is so wet outside. I didn't get to go for an outside walk yesterday because of the rain. July's usually hot and dry, but not this year. Austin's at one edge of a weather system that's pummeling other parts of central Texas (Kerrville, Guadalupe River State Park). The Guadalupe River is catastrophically high, second highest level ever, after areas got 5-10 inches of rain overnight. The NWS issued a Flash Flood Warning at 1:14 AM. The river was up at 8.54 ft at 2:20AM, and went to 24.7 ft at 4:20AM. Things are soaked where I am, but we are safe and thinking about our neighbors to the west.

In terms of health today — I have a good food plan and am going to exercise inside. The plan is treadmill-and-a-movie, and some arm weights.

Speaking of food, for any other salad eaters here, my new obsession is onions marinated in lemon juice. Slice a white onion into a shape and size you'd like on a salad. Grate the zest of a lemon into the jar, then squeeze the juice into the jar (I used a strainer to catch the seeds). Add bottled lemon juice to the jar so that the slices are covered in lemon juice. Cover and leave in the fridge overnight. This probably is also pretty good with just bottles lemon juice. Anyway, it makes for an amazing flavor bomb to go on a salad!

so true they are a business and they just had to claim bankruptcy to restructure their debt. If they didn’t have the in person meetings and a good group I’d probably just stick to online. I do like how they added in macro tracking so I don’t have to double track. I did have success here just tracking and being on the forums. But I find lately I need the in person meetings in addition to online. Idk that toxic relationship I was in was in just really zapped my motivation. It’s been years since then but left its scars. :-(

    @baodell17724

    Weigh-In: SATURDAY

    Starting Weight: 286.2 lbs (6 / 1 / 2024)

    Past Weight: 205.4 lbs

    Current Weight: 204.2 lbs

    Down 1.2 lbs

    ——————

    Exercise💦: 7 hours this week

[Firstly, my exercise went down, because I upped the resistance to "8" (the last setting = most resistance) and it's hard work and wears me out faster! Eventually I'll get used to this setting and do more time on the bike. I'm pleased that I lost at least a pound this past week. While I've been eating healthy foods, my portion control hasn't been good. As we all know every little bit more we add to our plate or snack on DOES add up by week's end! <sigh> (But I can't get into using measuring devices… except for my "eyes" and the older I get the blurrier my vision on food amounts… well, that's the excuse I use, anyways!!!😉)

Apologies, for not commenting on your posts directed to me, personally. My BAD. I really appreciated hearing all your comments and past experiences regarding Weight Watchers and TOPS. My conclusion to yours and my experiences is "simple": ACCOUNTABILITY TO YOURSELF (let alone, others!) is hard work. It's a helluva lot easier to deal with a growling stomach, than the sugar, fat, and salt demons that perch on our shoulders all of a sudden and tempting us (😈😈😈)!!! It's hard to keep our heads in the game when we have "a lot" of weight to still lose, and I know that my subconscious 😈 works to subtly sabotage my eating or not finishing my exercising.

Hope you are all well physically, mentally, emotionally!!! Huggz, Brian]

@trooworld - Congrats on your nice loss! Wow! Your plans sounded fun. Hope they were. Bye bye car tire, do not return!

@TeresaW2024 - Ditto what @trooworld said- you were worried and frightened. I'm glad Joe perked up a bit. Hope Maggie did OK

@AustinRuadhain - I've been reading about the TX flood and the summer camp. I'm glad you are OK. My thoughts are with those parents. Those onions sound yummy! Loved seeing your name all over the leader board last weekend- congrats!

@gemwolf110 - your pack is cute. Life does happen. Here's to getting back on track now that birthday month is over!

@baodell17724 - your previous comments about PhyEd class in school resonated with me. I didn't suffer as you did, but my lack of athleticism was reinforced and I definitely did not develop any love for exercise. One story- an assignment we were graded on was how many times you could bounce a soccer ball on your head. 10 times in a row was an A. I laughed out loud when I heard this and I did not get an A. I got an F. Anyway- you are doing great with exercise and everything else. It's OK that you don't always comment back to everyone- really, it is. And you are also right that motivation and holding yourself accountable are not easy things. Congrats on your loss!

Happy Saturday that feels like a Sunday. Will be extra awesome when tomorrow feels like Sunday again!

Originally, I set my Mayo goal weight at 150, so I am close to goal. Now I believe I will reset it to 135. Not sure if that is achievable for me, but I'm going to give it my best shot. I have put some pants that are too big aside. I should get rid of them. Why am I hesitating? Because I have enjoyed having smaller pants on hand to fit back into. However, why would I ever want to need these big pants again? If my pants get snug, that is a signal to buckle down and take care of it asap. In fact, I had a friend long ago who said the secret to not gaining weight was "Don't Buy New Pants"!

WW- I did it in the 90s and it worked great for me. I did it again about 8 years ago and I lost 7 pounds in 6 months. It was demoralizing.

Had a quiet 4th- spent the day alternating between reading and doing deep cleaning. I do not enjoy cleaning, but I enjoy the results. A lot of people in our neighborhood shoot off fireworks, so it was a tough evening for Gus. He was medicated, thunder-shirted and we bought him an ear cover this year- he did pretty well.

@baodell17724 - Brian, congratulations on your loss. Every ounce is a step in the right direction. And as you get smaller, each pound lost has a greater visible change to your body. It's like peeling an onion. Remove the outer layer, and the onion isn't that much smaller. As you remove each layer, the changes get more and more dramatic. You're closing in on 200, you're doing awesome 👌 👏

@TeresaW2024 Yes , that's exactly right. You are human! And you are right about deciding to change your life and willing to do the hard work. Thank you! I'm glad Joe is feeling a bit better and you didn't have to go to the ER on 4th of July...that would truly be an awful experience! People were letting off fireworks in the neighborhood for like an hour last night and it didn't bother our dogs at all. I can believe it didn't bother Daisy, we think she is now deaf or going deaf. But Violet: I can't believe it didn't bother her, as much of a scardy cat as she is!

@AustinRuadhain Thank you ! I am excited as I can envision reaching my goal. I just need to tone things up a bit. Yeah, I know some people who love WW it just wasn't for me either. Wow, it must be hot and steamy there, ugh! I'm sorry you didn't get your walk in. You had a good plan for yesterday, I hope you were able to do it. I'm glad you found a new flavor bomb! Thanks for sharing!

@gemwolf110 It's about time they added macro tracking ! I know people have wanted it for years. I'm sorry that relationship left you scarred. Your dogs are beautiful as always! Thanks for sharing!

@baodell17724 Congrats on the loss ! Great job with the exercise, too.

@Cornanda Thank you ! The plans were a lot of fun. I had a nice day. I will love waking up to it being Sunday and not Monday lol. How exciting that you are close to your goal! I have some pants from when I was at my highest weight, just a pair or two. I will eventually get rid of one pair, I am hanging onto the other as a comparison. Maybe you are holding onto those as a security blanket but I say get rid of them! I like your friend's philosophy! I'm glad Gus did pretty well. He looks adorable in his ear cover but also looks scared. Our dogs did really well, even Violet the troublemaker! We even had the windows open (people shot off fireworks in the neighborhood for around an hour).

Hello all. I had a fun day yesterday. I am meeting some former coworkers for coffee today so I made them some bookmarks as a gift. We went to ramen, it was really good and I have leftovers for lunch today. We went to Trader Joe's to get some snacks for the concert in the park: we got some labneh dip, some non-alcoholic beers, and then stopped and got some muhamarra at the international market, which is a dip made of walnuts, red peppers and some other stuff...it is smoky, sweet, savory, and slightly spicy. It's one of my favorite dips and I have a very good and simple recipe for it, should you want to try it! We also got some pretzel thins and chips to dip in the dips. It was a fun time but it got slightly chilly when we were in the shade so we left at intermission. Next week (the free concerts are every week in July), I will bring a sweater. Today, I think I will skip the gym: I can only work my upper body and I don't want to do that three days in a row as I plan to go to the gym tomorrow.

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

    Hi 👋

I hope everyone had a good Independence day. Lol… I'm glad it's over… Chipper was afraid to go out and go potty this morning. My poor baby.

I guess there was a small brush fire 1 street over from me. All I really could see was the bright lights of the fire truck. I'm going to walk over and see how bad it is after awhile.

My food choices were good yesterday, I measured and weighed everything. So, my portions were spot on.

    Y'all have a great day 😀

Rich is considering buying a vibration plate. He's hoping to help his circulation, especially in his feet and legs. Does anyone own one? And use it regularly? I tried one once, and I thought I'd get a concussion from my brain banging around inside my skull!

@micaroo4 i don’t but one of the other WW members does and loves it. I think a few other members either added it to their Amazon cart or bought it. Guess it’s like getting a 30 minute workout in 10 minutes or something like that.

Well I keep thinking life will slow down, I guess this is summer, busy doing fun stuff:). Once again I am absolutely pooped, so this is a super quick check-in. My eating has been pretty good until today. It was camping food all day.

I took Ty out to the lake this afternoon, hoping to get her used to the water. She loved it!!

I tried to post a picture, apparently I can't anymore. Too tired tonight to figure it out

@micarro4 I bought a vibration plate a few months ago . It helps a lot with circulation, and Rich can find all kinds of YouTube videos on different exercises he could do. I use mine mainly for a warm-up to loosen my muscles before rebounding or doing a lower-body dumbbell workout. It also really helps if I have a lot of muscle soreness from weight-lifting.

Good morning! We had a quiet and mostly uneventful day yesterday, which was nice. Joe had fallen asleep on the couch, watching the sad story about the Texas flood, and woke up confused, thinking we were in Texas, and he was very worried about the rain. I had to show him the weather app on my phone, which showed that we were in Georgia and would have no rain. Poor guy! ☹️ I’ve been doing a lot of reading on palliative and hospice care, so I know what to expect once we get there. For all I know, we are there now! 🤨My bestie and I were talking yesterday, and she told me again that I can call her any time for help, and I laughed and told her that I’m Gen X and we don’t ask for help, and she said, “Well, I’m a Boomer and I NEED to help!” I love her so much! 😀
