Formally accepted the offer this AM. Had to stay up to talk to HR about it, then slept poorly. But I am relieved that's done. My official transfer date (set by the hospital system) is September 28th, with my first day of work to be September 29th. I will inform my current manager tomorrow morning.

Me and a day shift nurse are both leaving and she has no idea yet. We both are tired of being micro-managed.

Nic - Hated the micro manager types. Especially when you’ve proven you don’t need constant supervision! Like “just let me do my job- I’ll call you when I need help.”

What happens to these managers is that the competent people who can easily find other jobs move on. And she’s left with the problem people who actually need micromanaging. Kind of a self fulfilling situation!

It is hard to keep working after notice given, but such a new, inviting opportunity to look forward to. So happy for you Nic ♡

Congrats on signing the offer Nic!!

I am feeling better, but still not back to normal. Woke up nauseated this morning again. Been sipping on gatorade and about to try and eat something. All I really want to do is go back to bed, but I don't have the PTO to take another sick day. Not with my plans for September and I refuse to give them up.

Athijade- have you ever had some medical person look into your frequent bouts of nausea?
It might be helpful to have a definite diagnosis and treatment plan. I know it’s causing you a lot of distress!

Hopeful that you're feeling a bit better by now 'jade! It's afternoon already at your neck of the woods!

Nic! Nice going! Now watch the supervisor have a 🐮 cow! 😇😁🤣🤣🤣

Hope you feel better Athijade, hate nausea.

I don't know where the summer is going. Still stumbling around, I get quiet when I struggle and figure less talk, more walk. Will keep gently trying.

Ah Happy - I’m at the other end of the spectrum here. CANNOT wait for summer to go away. We’ve had summer since late April and it will continue through October.

Another 💯 + day and I can’t be held accountable for my actions. It was 80 degrees at 6am when I went to the gym this morning! Oooh and so humid.

The one relief is that I am going to the Canadian maritimes soon where temperatures are more civilized. I plan to spend HOURS outdoors.

You will have fun fun fun! OH… and brush up on your frenchies!!! West of the prairies you could be forgiven to wonder why the labels are bilingual… but over in eastern Canada they seem to have frenchies all over the place! :-) But do promise me one thing… when/if you get to halifax… go past the cruise ship enclosure! They have a big-kitten warehouse that is a "market" ONLY (note ONLY) when there's cruise ships around! It was almost as big as the whole immigration museum right next door to it!

Oh, yes… and if you skip a meal (well, you better be skipping anything ELSE for that meal)… https://www.sweethereafter.ca/ was definitely on the approved list by CCCGG and me! It's totally remotely possible we had two each for dinner! ;-)

I lived in waaay northern Maine - Caribou- for three years. Six miles from the border of New Brunswick. We did a lot of traveling to Canada. Been Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Halifax too. Although it’s been years. We drove into Canada often before passport were required. So yes - prepared for much Frenchiness! Definitely plan on going into Halifax away from the port. There’s a hop on hop off bus that takes you all over.

I’m adding the cheesecake place to our list - ketchup chips, Nanaimo bars, beaver tails, maple candy, donairs. So much eating to be done. I’ll do “tastes” and hubby will snarf the rest!

Hmmm 🤔 🤔 🤔 in for cheesecake. It's amazing that I think I've only had a beaver tail twice! Once from a food truck and once in Banff or Canmore I think! Donairs? I know Halifax is famous. But personally I get the itch only a couple of times a year.... not so the cheesecake 🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh well there is a reason the world goes round!

I mean I just added 11g of reconstituted powdered egg whites to a frozen break fast TV dinner tray for kittens sake🤯🤯🤯🤯 so definitely deficiencies in the quality ingredients department! (But all cooked in 5 minutes giving me more time to dictate posts and assault innocent 😇 eyes!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣)

    I can't seem to win.

Been dealing with a flare up of my pain condition so that hasn't been fun. But then on Friday I was collecting the trash from the litter box and I have no idea what I did exactly but my back now hates me. Which also makes my other pain worse because all the muscles are connected so now the muscles in my pelvic floor are taking on more strain.

That said, I did a lot of walking of late. Including around 3-4 miles yesterday between time at the zoo and the almost 2 mile walk home (it was really nice out).

  • Yoolypr

Wow that’s a lot of walking Athijade! I used to do 3-4 miles several times a week but then medical problems, arthritis, osteoporosis all seemed to arrive at once. So it’s treadmills and flat surfaces now.
Get your outdoor walking in now you youngsters!

Water walking! Wish there were a pool nearby, I'd reside in it up to my neck... flamin hot ays, it was so humid this morning, walked inside instead.

So apparently we are no longer allowed to go back and EDIT. This along with the freaking inability to easily quote. Hate it! But it’s free so can’t complain too much. Work around work around work around…..

My bags are packed. Leaving early tomorrow for the maritimes of Canada which is promising glorious weather 75/55F daily!

After a great weekend with family and foot pain, it's a stress fracture! 4 weeks in the boot, maybe 6. Hooray!

Ooh sorry about that Nic! Any idea how it happened?

A while back I had a stress fracture in my instep area. But no idea how it happened. Other than wear the boot, the doctor never offered any suggestions on causes, future avoidance.

Heading off to Honduras tomorrow, which means no working out and no logging for the next week. Still planning on watching what I eat, trying to stick with my diet plan. Hopefully will stay the same weight wise (at least after I lose the water weight I know I'll gain - will have WAY too much salt.)

It's also going to be interesting to see if the crew I go with (mission trip) thinks when they see me. It's been a year and ~75 lbs since my last trip!

I hope all you travellers have a grand ol' most wonderful time! Both to the north and to the south!

One thing's for sure 75lbs less in the heat beats 75lbs more!!!!😊😎

Celebrated by birthday at 35,000 feet flying to Boston. Had some awesome pizza at a hole in the wall Italian restaurant. Two pieces of the WORKS- haven’t had pizza in years! But you’re only 78 once if you’re really lucky so 👍

Kennedy Presidential Library this morning. A stop at Faneuil Hall for arancini lunch. Followed by half of an amaretto cannoli at Mikes Pastry in the north end of Boston. Tomorrow we board the cruise ship.

Got off work at 8:15am, by 9:45am we were on the road to the beach (gulf of Mexico) and at 4:15pm we were on the beach, having acquired groceries. Now at nearly 7pm we're waiting to eat at an on-beach seafood restaurant.

Fun Fun! Canolis and oceanside dining!

Cleaned out fridge today then restocked - summer watermelons, psached & plums, love the large bell peppers couldn't resist, red onions, asparagus, cukes & zukes, another cabbage, bags with carrots, kale, broccoli slaw, raddishes & apples. Will practice knife skills again Sat, lol, and cook up a big pan pf veggies.

    Tuckered, turning in early.

Well, it rained from 11:30-4:00 at the beach yesterday. Got in an overcast hour in the morning and 2 overcast hours afterwards. Water is nice and warm, but boy it felt cool getting out of it. We went out for Mexican for dinner, had a fajita steak salad that was quite good.

It just finished raining this morning about 30 minutes ago, so I'm crossing my fingers.
