Wouldn’t call it snow. More like a dusting. More often ice and freezing rain episodes.

Besides Houston is 165 miles (265 km) southeast of Austin - whole different mini climate. More rain and humidity there. Texas is so big ……

Pffffft. That's closer than Seattle and we don't consider them to be in a different climate, weather-wise 🤣🤣🤣

Oh, we are different weather wise, has to do with being closer to the Gulf.

Agreed, our 'snow' is usually a dusting - more like 1/4 inch. If we get more than that, it's considered a blizzard! Most I had was 1/4 inch of ice with about 1 1/2 inches of snow on top. And, it stayed for 4 days - that was the snow storm that shut us down for a week.

Personally, I'll take snow any day over ice - safer to drive on snow.

So true RMS. Usually central Texas gets snow dusting but there was the freak 8” snow storm February 2021. No electricity for over a week - we have nothing else! Then it thawed and water pipes burst all over town. Then it was heat but no water for weeks. No snow plows for the streets.

@lauriekallis Hey! We're all wondering what you're up to Hamilton — regardless of whether you're logging or not logging!

And "my" butternut squash consuming pooch is on vacation at Turkey Point!

Went and got a new cat this weekend after lots of convincing my husband. Our yet to be named NewGirl (about 2.5yo) is cute as heck, affectionate, and super inquisitive. Bandit, our 15yo gray boy, is wildly unimpressed to have an interloper and we're still having to keep her primarily seperate in a room we set up for her, with supervised trips out.

She’s a cutie! I’m sure your boy will adjust in time. I used to have cat pets as a child. But hubby is waaay allergic!

Sorry, I have been on vacation. Just got back on Saturday and today is my first day back at work. I went to Orlando and hit up Halloween Horror Nights at Universal and the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.

I had an amazing time. One of the best trips I have taken down there. Wish I could have stayed longer though, but I am planning a trip back in the Spring (to Disney at least) and then in the Fall for the same thing.

But now I have to get my eating under control.

SOO HAPPY to be TGIF! It's been a very busy week. I wish sometimes I could do just one thing at a time!

Looking forward to the weekend. Unfortunately, I don't think I can get out to hike or kayak this weekend. My car needs new shocks and I'm still waiting for them to tell me they are in. Don't really want to go out on those roads without them.

Enjoying a chill/relaxed Saturday of pleasant fall weather, college football and now a fire on the patio.

Tomorrow we're going hiking, something in the 5-6 mile range, since it won't be too hot (76F/24C) and clear skies.

Went down and watched the Chicago Marathon this morning. Cheered on the runners for a bit then went to breakfast with a friend. I was craving pancakes so I got a side order of them (2 pancakes) and some bacon. Then I walked to the store. When I came home, I meal prepped.

Now I am sitting on the sofa, enjoying the cool fresh air from my window.

My new goal is to do some sort of movement at least 3 days a week and to log my food 4 days a week. Baby steps.

Yoolypr - Hear ya - hasn't Texas realized it's OCTOBER!

Still going to hit 90's here all week again. Nights, at least, are cooling off to the low 60's. I had my window open in my bedroom the last couple of nights and loved it.

Couldn't go out hiking myself last Saturday. I had car issues and had to get the shocks replaced last Friday. Took all afternoon. Ended up having to shop in person (ugh) Saturday, since I couldn't time my usual Friday pm curbside pickup. Going into the store reminds me of how much I love curbside!

I was thinking of curbside when looking for parking…. 400 meters away from Costco. There was a line up to go in. Picked up my spare glasses from the optical. Walked into the store to buy some extra goodies. SAVED by the fact that the till line up was not only past the candy isles, not only past the cell phones, not only past the clothes, but was getting into seasonal and the cheese and cold cut department! I just left!

    That's a line!

  • PAV8888
    PAV8888 Posts: 15,867 Member

I should clarify that it was a "paired" side by side line up funneling everyone either to the (multiple) human checkouts or to the (multiple) self serve checkout sections… so progresses rapidly but still the length was at least double anything I've ever waited in and I wasn't THAT motivated!

I have the flu. I wasn't feel great this past weekend (achy, tired) but didn't feel sick sick. Yesterday I woke up with a very painful throat and no voice. Today my throat feels a little better, but I feel worse overall. I am exhausted, congested, nauseated, achy.

Still keeping to my meal plan though. Just drinking a lot of tea.
