Sam's has a Scan and Go in the app - I love it! I just check myself out and saunter on by all the lines!

    7-11 does too!!!!🤣

But over here they're psychotic and I resist playing their game.

Not 7-11. For a type of store that for a fact has high shrinkage they seem to have one of the most advanced and premisive self-checkouts including app scanning and paying.

But definitely Loblaws and Walmart and (if we're willing to call things like they are instead of giving a pass to the ones we prefer to shop at) Costco too. All of them basically try to get us to do their check out work ourselves... and then treat us like sneaky criminals that have to be beaten into submission when we do what they ask.

And talk about psychotic... most Shopper Drug Marts (an expensive way to get groceries from Loblaws) don't treat the self check out as a criminal conspiracy. But at the superstore (a less expensive way to get groceries from Loblaws) cattle gates and checks are the norm—just waiting for the body searches to start!

And as I said Costco is not to be excluded from the list, even if they're "only making sure nobody gets double charged"--or something!😡

How about some cash registers with cashiers..... if not a free push the buggy to the car for you from way back in the day!...

I mean, is a shopper going around picking product and then bringing the bags out to the car for curbside pick-up less staff time and more profits than just having a cashier handle the purchases of person who did their own picking in store and threw in an extra 30% of impulse buying?🧐

Things have so changed. Waiting room -- everyone nose in phone, no one yakking. Checkin person behind plexi-glass with a slit, door into inner sanctum locked, sign up in waitroom agressively states agression not tolerated, nor weapons, on premises. The irony.

    1000021027.jpg

This as every on-off ramp had homeless, some with children or pets - the foodbank cars doublelined and wrapped around the blocks as others whiz by - how is that permitted??

    1000026504.jpg

And yet, similar to this picture, today was glorious, mid-60s, blue skies, light breeze, puffy cottonball clouds... the trees have turned, leaves are dropping, swirl in the wind, on the ground and crackle as we (gleefully) shuffle through them, before the rains start up... these are some of my favorite weather days…

    1000026196.png

    This is how I feel.

Have you noticed all the negative stuff everywhere? A person behind the wall and service window was whining this, that.... another joined in with some self-bashing...

On about 3rd go around, couldn't help myself, said 'well, you ain't dead yet!'

Caught them by surprise my eavesdropping self... they said... what? I repeated, you ain't dead yet, have enough to eat, a job, a place to sleep...

Not much patience for whining or wallowing... For crying out loud, put it aside, turn forward, live... love, be happy!

    1000026505.jpg

    That be my day today.

On the flip side, a food company cared enough to tell me I made a good choice today (choosing their product, eh??? LoL)

My thought out and about... with the inflation & shortages, eggs & tp are too expensive for Halloween shenanigans! LoL

The problem seems to be that chocolate bars don't seem to have a shortage. Though they do seem to have inflation! 😔 Or maybe really this should be: they do seem to have inflation!😎👍 🙄

Maybe if melted, could paint the town chocolate!

Still sick. Called out to work yesterday to rest and it helped, but I still feel pretty yuck. I just don't have the PTO atm to take another day off. It has mostly moved into my lungs and chest at this point, though my legs are still super achy.

I did order in last night, but otherwise have done okay sticking to the plan.

Get the vaccines- no guarantee but may mitigate the worst symptoms.

Still waiting for FALL! Only 8/10” (2cm) rain in the last sixty days. Hot and dry continues…

Walked a 5k for breast cancer fundraising this AM. Not too shabby, and the first 6-7 minutes were a bit slow, with so much congestion on the course.

I also weighed in at 148 this morning! Feeling ought and quick, lol.

Had some breakfast, got myself a hot hazelnut latte, and am off to get a new tattoo!

Precisely, yooly! My mom used to sing it to me and my sisters, and I sang it to my kids. And daisies are my mom's favorite.

I know I've been pretty darned absent - even though I'm back home. I think the hamsters are afraid of myfitness pal :) But I will prevail.

Don’t fear the hamsters! We’re here for you Laurie and you’re missed. And you owe us the stories of your summer adventures in Newfoundland.

As usual Texas babushka has got us all to Rights Laurie! 🤯

And fresco will sell you five Classico jars for $2.99 each ($14.95)... and then take $10 off at the till if you buy 5 at a time. So $0.99 each.

Then you can process the second Laurie and buy another five.... and another (no official limits on additional transactions)

    Scene card required

A bit salty. But if you get the non meat versions you can certainly put them together with baggies of frozen veggies!

Instant meal. Protein source to be added or discovered elsewhere! 🤔

    Fresco??? Scene card??
I recognize the Classico but otherwise you lost me PAV!

All I know is that Laurie needs to come back!

Scene card is loyalty card floated by Scotiabank (one of the big five Canadian chartered Banks) in conjunction with Empire group of grocery stores (Sobeys, Safeway including Freshco) and Cineplex movie theatres who were the originators.

Loblaws, Empire, Walmart, Costco, apparently Metro in the East and the Jim patisson group in the West pretty much own most grocery stores.

Loblaws does PC optimum, Empire switched from air Miles (bought out by Bank of Montreal after that death blow) to Scene. Walmart doesn't pretend to be nice. Costco does the same in the States and here. And Jim patisson builds hospitals but his grocery prices and my preferences remain unaligned 😜

Basic upshot for Laurie was that she can get slightly watered down smaller jarred (as compared to the past) spaghetti sauce at about US $0.70 per jar by flashing the free loyalty card.

Following my own advice: 746g of baby green peas are currently swimming in 650g of red wine and herb spaghetti sauce. Split into two equal batches.

Will probably acquire some white or red onion to add when reheating for eating. Possibly with some powdered or granulated garlic and extra lemon pepper! Have avoided adding sausage so far because it would increase calories but considering options. Currently each batch is clocking in at about 475 Cal as is. Peas are not cauliflower!!!🤣🤣🤣
