Well, the steps at the grocery store count too! I'm always surprised at how many steps I get just wandering the aisles. No, it's not fast, but it's steps! LOL!

Changing up how I take my meds at night has helped with the tiredness when I wake up. My back started to spasm a little bit last night and I thought for sure I was going to have to take the Tramadol, but it stopped by God's goodness!

I was surprised that my weight was 228.8 this morning! Lowest in 16 years. I was 225 on our 25th anniversary and in Sept it will be our 41st! Praise the Lord. I don't know why it's going down, but I am so grateful it is.

Mine went down about a pound, too! I take what I can get. I am so glad I went to the grocery store the other day. I found a great chicken sausage made with tomato and basil. We had it tonight with spaghetti. So good! Also found a pre-made chicken fajita. That one had very little chicken and a lot of juice. I had browned some turkey sausage the night before and saved half of it. It went in the fajita mix and oh my, so tasty. I won't buy the pre-made again, but it still made a great meal.

We made a lasagna Saturday night and added the Italian sausage to it for the first time and it was sooo good! Just gives it a nice added spice. I haven't had fajitas in a looong time! If we go to a Mexican restaurant, I go for the Chimichanga! Lots of cheese.

I was down to 228 this morning - wow, even after a weekend of eating what I wanted. I bet it will be up tomorrow!

I was down a pound this morning. We'll see if it stays that way. I had maple glazed salmon for dinner last night - a new (and easy!) recipe for me, which turned out really well.

I had a fasting insulin blood test this morning. Results should be in by Wednesday. I saw my Dr. a week and a half ago and she suggested it because my glucose number was normal but my A1C suggested pre-diabetes. She said the insulin test will tell the real story. Praying that the glucose number was more right than the A1C would indicate.

Oh yes! I hope that it was just a fluke, praying so!

Saying a prayer, Cindy! Keep us posted.

I am absolutely tired of these high temps! This morning at 7am when I took the trash to the street it was already blistering! Last night at 7:30 the heat index was still over 100. Nope, not going there. I need to get a set indoor regime. I used to have videos for exercises for seniors and they were easy to do, and kept me active in the heat of summer and cold of winter. Since we moved, I don't have the "dreaded treadmill". I really don't have a place to put one except the garage, and walking outside would be just as comfortable as the garage.

I did do some house walking yesterday, only about 150 steps, but it was as much as I could do. I had done the dishes earlier and that hurt my lower back, so my back didn't like when I did my walk. I put on my compression wraps yesterday and my legs have felt so heavy all day, like they just didn't want to work right. That's the first time that's happened. I've been taking my BP every day too since one of my new doctors mentioned to keep an eye on it, and it's been going down as well. I took it twice in both arms just to be sure but it was around an average of 107/63. He said the bottom number was the one to keep an eye on - well, that's getting a little low, but it hasn't gone below that. I used to have a BP in the 90's/60's when I was younger, but as I gained weight that went up to the normal range. I don't think my body is used to those low numbers any more! LOL! I'm hoping that as I get used to the new med it will go back up. I've been sleeping better the last two nights after figuring out how to take the old meds with the new med - praise the Lord for that as well. I was 228 this morning.

My BP used to be between 90/60 - 100/70 when I was younger. I think it was something like 125/80 a couple of weeks ago. She said, that's great. I thought - that's high for me. Maybe that's my new normal.

  • Restfinder
    Restfinder Posts: 3,740 Member

I think 120/80 is "normal", but mine is always a little bit above that and I think it's because I'm scared when they take my BP because it hurts so badly from the lipedema! My mom had low BP and both of us used to get startled looks from the doctors until we told them that's normal for us.

My BP was always low, as well. Now it usually runs in the teens or low twenties. The professionals can't believe that I am able to keep it that low without meds….just good genes, I guess.

I got my walk in today. It was a little later than normal, but in the temperature was in the low 80s so it was great. It was warm, but not hot. I really enjoyed it.

I will probably go a little over my normal calorie count today. Bill hadn't been eating very well, so I fixed biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, and turkey sausage for dinner. He didn't eat as much as his usual, but he did eat plenty, and there is enough for him to have the rest for breakfast.

I have been looking at excercises to do indoors. Has anyone heard of or tried the Arm Swing exercises. I think I may try them. My middle back gets stiff and part of the PT I was given was a type of arm swing. Hmmm. May be a good hot or cold weather alternative to walking.

I've been getting in at least 8 glasses of water a day (most days 9) since the 6th. The app is helping me remember. I've also been eating much better - still keeping my added sugar low - not skipping breakfast and making healthier choices. My insulin numbers came in higher than I'd like - in the middle of what's considered normal - not in the single digits like I hear is optimal. I'm going to continue what I'm doing and test again in 3 months.

Is that your A1C Cindy? Praying that you are able to bring it down on your own!

I'm hoping that we get a cool down to I can do some outside walking - it's a straight line and I only have to turn at each end, and one of the ends I can do a wide turn so it doesn't hurt my hip.

I can't tell if the new med is helping yet. The places that I regularly have pain are still painful. If my hands quiet down then I'll know it's working and I'll talk to the doctor about seeing if anything can be done with the right SI, hip, and upper thigh.

Keep up the awesome work y'all are doing!

No... it isn't my A1C. It's from a fasting insulin test. The key says normal is 2.4-25, but optimal is single digits. Mine was 14.3. So not dangerous, but not great. My glucose number was under 100, so that's fine. My A1C was on the high normal range. Mr Dr. wasn't worried that - she said the fasting insulin will tell the real story. I'll test again in 3 months and see if the numbers tell a different story with the changes I've made.

    I'm also down one pound.

Praise the Lord that everything, at least for now is in the normal range and Lord willing will move to the middle or lower side of normal very soon! Praying for you. Yay for that one lb loss.

Great job with the loss! Praying the Sugar counts go into the optimal range!

Kim, praying that your pain can at least be managed.

We had another day of incredible weather, today! I got 1.25 miles in my walk, plus grocery store and Dollar General, so pretty close to 1.5 miles.

Today's calories are running pretty low, but tomorrow will be a major cheat day. It's Terry's birthday and we are having birthday cupcakes and ice-cream....so I will probably just enjoy whatever I want tomorrow.

I'm glad you are going to splurge a little! The weekend is when I allow myself treats, but I am trying to be careful not to blow it.

I was at 229 this morning.

I have grazed all day long, and no walk. I don't do it often, so I am just enjoying eating whatever I want and how much I want…..

Sometimes you just need those days.

I am going to try and do a walk outside. It's 81 but I think I'll be alright.

I was at 230 this morning.

I'm working in Boston this week (home late Wednesday). The food options haven't been great, but I brought a lot of stuff with me. I'm being consistent with my water intake - getting between 8 and 9 glasses of water a day.

You are doing so well with the water, Cindy!

I did get a short walk outside this morning - about 500 steps which is up and down the driveway twice. It was a little bit warm and I was having a little bit of trouble with my breathing so I stopped when that happened.

    Extremely tired today!

Thanks for the encouragement, Kim. I've done a bit of walking too. I got done early enough tonight that I think I'm going to do some stretching and a little exercise in my room tonight.

It's good you stopped when you got winded. I hope you're able to get good sleep tonight.

The weather here was glorious today! I took my longest walk and then tried to get Bill to sit outside where he could enjoy the weather, but he wouldn't budge, so I let him sleep.

Right now I am showing a few calories over my normal goal (that leftover cupcake!). I think I will be okay by the end if day, because I can easily adjust my snack by more than those few calories. I re-homed the last 3 cupcakes to my neighbor! She was glad to adopt them.

That is too cute! I'm sure they will have a wonderful place with her although not for long!

Not feeling very good today so didn't do the walk. I had a fair night's rest, just six hours but a solid six hours. I laid (lay down?) down after being up for about an hour, just still very tired. I didn't fall back to sleep but rested for an hour and a half. The pain is greater today than it has been in a little while.

Ate mild for lunch and probably will again for dinner.

Sorry for the pain, Kim. Keeping you in prayer.

We still have amazing weather, so was perfect for a 1.33 mile walk. It could just stay like this year around!

Awesome, Connie! I did just a 410 step walk. It was a little bit warmer than I thought by my watch. It said 69, but it was more like 75. When I started hurting I stopped - I didn't want to push it and miss being at Bible Study tonight. A little bit every day and hopefully adding more steps each day as well.

I didn't get a walk yesterday, and the weather was perfect. I had to be home for a prescription delivery and had no idea when it would come. By the time it came, it was time to cook dinner. I thought I could take my walk after dinner, but then just got involved and forgot. Oops. Hopefully today will be better. I have the social worker from Hospice coming this morning and the bath aide coming this afternoon, but the weather is cool, so hopefully a late morning/early afternoon walk is in the plans.

I'm still doing well getting 8 - 9 glasses of water a day. (64 - 72 oz!) And I don't usually count it until it's been a couple of days, but it looks like I've lost another pound. So I'm at two lbs. lost. I've been unable to lose anything for months, so I'm very encouraged by these two lbs. lost.

Unfortunately, that kind of loss is the best kind, slowly but surely! Congrats on doing so well with your water. I was told by my doctor not to get more than 36oz a day - not sure this is right for lymphedema, but in asking Google I haven't found consistent answers to that question, so I just do like he suggested; unless I'm really thirsty, then I drink more! LOL!

I did get over 2,000 steps yesterday. The days we go shopping I do get quite a few. I'm just glad that I can go into the stores and walk that much now! Praise the Lord! Now the temperatures need to get into the lower 70's and upper 60's so I can walk outside consistently. I might try tonight if the temps get into the mid 70's.

We went out for dinner yesterday with our Pastor and his wife (great friends). I had steak, fries, and French Onion Soup. Oh, yummers. I didn't eat all of the fries, but the steak and soup disappeared. Wade's leftover ribs are for lunch today.

I thought I was staying in my calories tonight for dinner, but I went over by 211 calories. Oops. Usually if I go over my dinner calories, I can make them up in my evening snack, but I don't think I can make up that much. Oh well, it was good. When we were with sparkpeople, it had a range and this would have been within that range, so I'm not going to worry. I also got my evening walk, so that helped.

I forgot to get my walk this morning. I went to Mom's and got a little involved with a weedeater issue. I looked at the clock a few minutes ago and couldn't get away before one of Bill's meds was due. Maybe I will have time before or after dinner. It is so nice out. A tiny bit warmer today, but still not too hot to walk.

My weight loss has really slowed down, but I did lose a few tenths of a pound….down to an exact #. 6 lbs to my goal and 11 to my stretch goal. We will see.
