I think bears love the water do that's a good idea. As long as we can keep tabs on Mama bear. I would not like to get between her and the cubs.

Yes I agree Susan, we will need to keep Tabs on the Baby Bears as we don’t want to get between Mama and her Cubs! As if Mama Bear feels her Cubs are being threatened she would strike out with her sharp claws that would feel like Stab from Mama, not fun!

Let's keep Mamma Bear happy to avoid the claw stabs! Walk very quietly and slowly so you do not "stub" your toe and scare the babies or the mamma.

They are so much bigger and stronger than our household pets. Our "cats" bats when they are playing do not hurt.

yes Susan let’s stay away from the Bats, yes Linda, Our Cats don’t hurt when playing but some animals do, so to keep safe from Bats diving down on our heads we can wear Hats to protect our heads!

I guess the bats are more active in late summer. They will soon hibernate through the wi ter and wait for the next thaw.

When bats hibernate, they all congregate "with" their friends in a cave and sleep upside down. I do not think that would be very comfortable way to sleep but they do not seem to complain.

Yes Susan, they will hibernate as you said until the next Thaw, yay for that so we don’t need to worry about Bats flying over our heads. And Linda, can’t imagine sleeping upside down in caves With their friends, they don’t seem to mind, but I sure would! It would take a Whit group of Bats hanging upside down with their friends to grasp the concept of the Bats sleeping like that!

What? I thought bats were designed to sleep upside down! I didn't know their friends would question the.practice! (Lol!)

If there are bats flying around my head I might impulsively "swat" at it. It's a good thing they are sleeping now.

indeed Susan, you made me chuckle when you said What, I thought they were designed to sleep upside down and that their friends were questioning how they were sleeping, and yes they are designed to sleep upside down. And Linda, I would do the same thing if Bats were flying around my head, I’d Swat at them too; and yes ‘Twas the night the Bats left their Cave to fly all around our Heads.

In my youth I used to go spelunking (caving) and micro bats lived in the caves. If we disturbed them and they flew out in a flock, we would hit the deck while they passed by. Otherwise it wast common for them to attach themselves to our clothing, prithee. (They were cute and we weren't afraid of them).

Susan - I also did spelunking when I was in college. I never saw a bat but I did see beautiful formations and some tiny passageways that skinny me was able to go through but more plump me would have to turn around an go back the way I came.

If there were bats, although they are cute, I would go "west" if they were going east to get out of their way.

oh Susan, it Wast Common for Bats to attach themselves to your clothing… not a chance, I would hit the deck and crawl out of the cave.. you can COUNT on that 😆 And Linda I am with you if the Bats were flying East for sure I’d be going West…and believe me if I couldn’t go West I sure would be in a Stew!

Yes that would be very difficult to deal with if you could not get away from the bats. Maybe you should "stow" an invisible cloak in your purse and when they come, you could put it on and they would not see you and could not attach themselves to your clothing.

Micro Bats are so tiny, they could not hurt you! They don't have big enough mouths to bite and are not aggressive. I have a photonof one if you want to see.it, but won't post it in case it freaks you out. There were scarier creatures than the bats in our limestone caves, such as the Hundred Legger, glow in the dark spiders and poisonous snakes, but none of them ever tried to bite us. We kept our wits about us and respected their space.

A good plan Linda, an invisible cloak to Stow in my purse. And Susan, never seen a micro bat so it’s ok to post a picture of the wee guy, but no spiders or snakes, those would freak me out, Big Time! And those critters I wouldn’t be able to keep my Wits about myself 😳 yes I would need to be Wist of them so they wouldn’t sneak up on me!

Lol! OK, Judith. I won't post spider or snake pictures if I can help it. The Micro bat is so cute. If one wast to land on me, I would stare, fascinated. Usually the little bats would fly off again as soon as they had a short break.

Micro bats are still bats but these might not be as bad as the big ones we have at the cabin that whiz over the tops of our heads when we are out watching the stars at night. My granddaughter was extremely scared of them. Although we told her they are good for hunting bugs and would not hurt her, she would have liked to "tase" them if she had a stun gun. Fortunately we did not have any guns so the bats were never in danger of getting hurt.

Susan as much as I don’t like Bats I admit those tiny bats are cute! Yup I said it Linda! 😆 Glad there were no Tase guns in reach Linda, I don’t like Tase Guns so will take a Seat from anymore comments!

We are a country of extremes. As well as the Micro bats we have colonies of Fruit bats (Flying Foxes) here, much larger animals. They are not really harmful to humans tnough and I know someone who was a Flying Fix rescuer and loved them. They really are affectionate when tamed. You can't beat that!

Although cute and affectionate, I would rather stick to normal pets like dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc. All of those I have had experience with. On Facebook there is a group that has jumping spiders as pets. They make little houses for them. They are very small and are really beautiful to see at a distance. It would be quite a "feat" to get me to adopt a spider as a pet!

Susan I am sure all the animals you are speaking about are cute but I guess it’s because I haven’t grown up with them and familiar with them like you they make somewhat fearful of them. However I guess when they tamed you can Beat that. I hear you Linda, it would take quite a Feat to adopt a Spider or any other creatures other than a Dog Cat etc! To be truthful if I encountered a Bat flying on me or a Huge Spider my eyes would have a Tear in them, probably Big Tears 😭

Yes, it is natural to fear the unknown, Judith. Little jumping spiders are so cute and cannot bite humans. I understand that you would want a pet you understand and can care for and love though. We don't want you to cry in fear!

Fear does make large emotions in our minds that are bigger than than reality. Please do not cry Judith. I could not "bear" to see you in distress.

No worries in real life I won’t cry in Fear Susan, I’d just get out of the way, far away from both Bats and Spiders but you don’t have to Bear seeing me in distress Linda. I would just “Beat” it down the street as fast as my arms would propel my wheelchair could go! 😆
