What Have You Done Today That Is Healthy

I got my walk in today early. Glad I did, since it started raining this afternoon.

Woohoo! No rain today, but should get some tomorrow or the next day from whatever storm is moving up the East Coast. We also have something coming in from the West!
I did get steps in today. We went to the beach today, the first time since we moved here - pitiful! It was beautiful. We just sat and watched the waves roll in for about an hour. I didn't have to walk through much loose sand (which is the hardest for me to get through) so that was really nice. There was this little Boston Terrier who was running into the waves, doing a jumping twist and running back out - soooo cute! The beach was pretty empty it being the off-season, but it was plenty warm and sunny. I have 1,414 steps so far today. Can't say my eating's been good though!

I have really gotten off my eating and exercise norm. Today I took a 1.24 mile walk, but just didn't want to go the extra .25 mile. I should be able to get back in the groove. Most of the "business" and hard stuff is handled, now.

Salad for lunch and dinner today. And I've been doing 20 minutes of exercises at night for the last week or so. Still holding at 8 lbs lost.

Y'all are doing great!

Salad and pulled pork for lunch. An apple for snack on the way home in the car. Salad with chicken for dinner.
Did my exercises at home tonight. (And have been doing them for the past week or so.)
72 oz of water today. And this great, gf (coconut flour), low sugar pumpkin mug cake for dessert. (Only 2 minutes in the microwave!) I made it last night with 1 teaspoon maple syrup for my sweetener. I used 1 1/2 teaspoons maple syrup tonight and maybe a TBL of chopped walnuts added in and sprinkled on top... and it was better. I think it could use a dollop of whipped cream for not many calories or sugar. It's quick and easy and is a really good option for breakfast or dessert. (If you're interested, you can click on it, and it'll take you to the recipe )

That sounds and looks delicious! Thanks, Cindy. I have the recipe on my desktop now.
Trying to keep the calories down right now, at least until the weekend again. It hasn't been that hard to do, especially since Wade is also not eating treats during the week.
Time for lunch, roast beef and cheese on a no carb tortilla and some pretzel sticks.

Sunday was a cheat day for me. We had our Pastor Appreciation Day celebration and they catered in BBQ from the best place in town. It was so good. Then I just didn't track the rest of the day. I know I went over, but not too badly.
Today, no real walk due to rain. But did walk to the bank in between showers, and will walk to our HOA mtg tonight if it isn't raining.

Wow, that's a great menu, Cindy!
I can't believe we've gotten chilly and I'm wearing my long sleeves and pants now! Still trying to function with this pain. I see my NP at the end of the month and will see if there is anything more she can do. Today is one of those super sleepy days - ugh!
0 -
I'm sorry you're still in so much pain, Kim. I pray the NP will be able to help.
It's gotten chilly here, too. I had to torn the furnace on. I just can't stand the cold mornings.

We are still in the mid 80's. I don't remember this heat this late in the season. I turned the air off before I went to Dixon last week and refuse to turn it back on but I am using a fan to move the air around.
I went on my walk tonight and got to the end of the short street I live on and saw a guy from church picking up his mom in my neighborhood for church tonight....totally blanked out that it was Wednesday night. Needless to say, I didn't get my walk, but did get to church.

Skipped my exercises last night, except for the 30 second Superman I do every night. (Trying to strengthen my bones. Jumping is supposed to be good for that, too)
Pumpkin mug cake 😋 for breakfast. Watching my youngest granddaughter for a couple hours today. 🤗

I got 1.7 miles today. A normal walk, then walked to a music program at our club house. Boy, was that different - and funny! Wild, music games and lots of prizes. They looked for ways to give away little prizes. I knew very little of the music. I wasn't interested in listening to a lot of music as a kid or teen (when a lot of the music originated). My music was mostly all gospel and performance related. But, I will go to more of them just because of the laughs. The guy in charge lives in the complex, but does these programs in retirement homes and assisted living homes as well.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun, Connie! Wade knows his music from the 50's and onward. He can tell you who sang it and sometimes even what album it was on. I don't often know the song unless I hear it, then I can remember hearing it in the past but not necessarily cared about it. I was part of Word Music when I was a teen and got albums once a month, so I had some knowledge of the modern Christian music (Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, etc…) Oh, Wade found a group I really liked - Everybodyduck! Yep. I don't get the name, but I loved their sound. Oh my, Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill were two of my favorites. There are several Matthew Ward songs that I like to sing even today.
Working on my meals, but not much exercise. Using my cane today. Both the right and left leg buckled a bit today. Better to be safe than sorry.

I got a walk in today, but took a little different route. I thought it might be a tiny bit further, but it was actually shorter. I dont like part of that route because a part of it it is along a very busy road. If I do, it's usually added on to my normal route.
Will be right on my calorie count and the walk was sufficient. I'm still eating stuff from the freezer. When I make soup, I usually save the leftovers to the freezer. I have one more serving of what I thawed tonight and will have one more container that doesn't have quite as much in it. I figured that I might as well try to use up what I already have before buying a bunch of groceries. I have bought sandwich stuff and that's about it.

Working in Hollywood, Florida from today through Wednesday night. I got 10,714 steps in today. The last 3,500 or so I got from a 40 minute walk on the beach. There are muscles in my legs and gluteus maximus that are sore from that walk in the sand and surf.

It's amazing the different muscles used for different terrain! Your feet get a manicure too!
Y'all are doing so well!

Got a 1.31 mile walk today. We officially have fall weather. I had to pull out socks…..
0 -
That's a sure sign it's fall - needing socks! We warmed up a bit so I'm in a long sleeve t-shirt rather than a sweat-shirt. We'll be up to 70 this afternoon.
I talked to my arthritis PA and let him know about the pain and he prescribed something different, the first med for an autoimmune disease - possibly RA or something else. He had told me at the start that there was a small chance that I could have an autoimmune disorder, and yesterday he said that it's possible because of the number I had on my test as well as the symptoms I'm having, that just below the test numbers an autoimmune disease is lurking and causing this pain. It will take anywhere from six to eight weeks for the med to build up in my system, so it isn't going to help immediately. Just gotta tough it our a little longer - with Jesus it's not too hard! He gives me peace at just the right times. I can't imagine life without Him.

Well, I was beating myself up because I had one coconut macaroon Tuesday night. I've been SO good at keeping the added sugar down. I read online after I ate it that one coconut macaroon can have between 15 and 20 grams of added sugar, so I was disappointed in myself. BUT I weighed myself this morning and I lost another 2 lbs. while I was out of town - for a total of 10 - so all is forgiven, cookie. 🍪

I tried an apple mug cake recipe (made with almond flour - picture below) this morning. Not nearly as good as the pumpkin, so I'm still on the hunt for a good recipe. I ate that for breakfast, along with a new-to-me yogurt (siggi's) I'm trying. It only has 5g of added sugar and boy, can you tell. It was good if I think of it only as protein (12g for a 4.4 oz. cup) but pretty flavorless. I tried the lemon because that's my favorite Noosa yogurt flavor. But that's in the past for me as that has 21g of added sugar. That's definitely a no no.

Here's a recipe I found on Trim Healthy Mama's Recipes. They only give a few if you aren't a paying member.
It's a chocolate "muffin" in a cup. It's called a MUDSLIDE MUFFIN
Servings
Prep Time
Cook Time
1Single-serve recipe
3minutes
1minute
Ingredients
- 1 egg (s)
- 1 Tbsp golden flax meal (heaping)
- 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (dark cocoa is nice in this)
- 4.5 tsp TH Gentle Sweet (4.5 to 5 tsp; or 2 to 3 tsp THM Super Sweet Blend)
- 1/2 tsp aluminum-free baking powder
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin coconut oil (or butter)
- dash vanilla extract
- pinch TH Mineral Salt
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1/4 cup fresh berries (optional)
Units:US ImperialMetric
Instructions
- Crack egg into coffee cup or oven safe ramekin and whisk well with your fork.
- Add all other ingredients except optional berries and mix very well with a fork (a mini workout for your arm). Add berries (raspberries or strawberries are perfect), then stir gently into batter. Alternatively, you can leave out berries and use 1 Tbsp of water.
- For microwave version, cook on high for only 40 seconds, if using only water. If including berries, it will need closer to 1 minute.
- The muffin should still be gooey in the center when you take it out.
- Oven versions should take between 8-12 minutes at 350. Take out of the oven before the top of the muffin is completely set.
- Add an optional sprinkle of THM Gentle Sweet over top of cooked muffin.
It didn't have any nutritional information on the anybody can see page.
I looked up Low Sugar Mug Cakes and there were quite a few recipes.
Wade got me some super thin pretzel sticks - 96 is a serving at just 120 calories! Whoop!
Woohoo on that weight loss, Cindy!

Yes - there are quite a few. I need to narrow it down to those that use a gf flour of any kind (coconut, almond, or a gf flour blend) with an egg (I want the protein) and low sugar (real, not Stevia - my go-to is 1 teaspoon maple syrup), so I'm a little picky I guess.
I'm at 42 oz. of water so far today. I was thinking about going for a walk, but it's only 48 degrees and the sun isn't out. That's a little too chilly for me. I mean - I guess I could bundle up, but I think I'd rather work out inside. I need to find my 10 lb. weights. I'm ready to move up from the 5's
So… lemon yogurt, apple muffin/cake in a mug and coffee for breakfast; a cup of broccoli cheese soup with a small apple and peanut butter for lunch; and I'm pretty sure dinner will be a salad with romaine, red leaf lettuce, microgreens, cucumber, avocado, feta and chicken.

No walk today. It has rained most of the day, so decided on a rest day. I've been doing well with my calorie counts except for Tuesday. I went to brunch with friends and totally enjoyed the "kitchen sink" omelet with potatoes and English muffin. I did take half of my omelet home, but fixed more potatoes to go with it. When I hopped on the scale last I had lost a few oz.

I have lost one pound, although I think it's more from less swelling now that the temps have cooled down. I tried to do a little bit of leg exercises yesterday and it killed my left knee. I might try doing some shallow squats to strengthen my thigh muscles - I usually do those when I am brushing my teeth, that way I keep brushing until I get all of my squats in! No cheating!

Apple mug cake, small apple with peanut butter and coffee for breakfast, cup of lentil soup for lunch as I was running out the door to my granddaughter's soccer game (took a cup of coffee with me - it was cold today!), and just finished a salad with romaine, microgreens, avocado and rosemary marcona almonds with two small slices of cauliflower crust white pizza with spinach and chicken for dinner. No snacks today. I'm at 67 oz of water so far - will probably end the day at 81.

So proud of y'all for how well you are doing.
My weight was up by 1.5 lbs. I have a feeling I know what has caused the jump (not a diet problem). I did have my treats this weekend, but in moderation and small amounts and ate well in between, so I don't think that's it. I am going to try and do some house walking today and see how my back does with that. I'm not quite as painful today, so I'm going to give it a go.

I have really been on a plateau. I am having a terrible time getting that last pound off….Then I need to decide where to go from there.
No walking for the last few days due to rain and gloom. Just yuck.
0 -
I don't like rain and gloom! It looks like our rain has passed for now, but the sky is still cloudy. Why do people say we have cloudy skies? Isn't there just one sky (that we see)? I know that there are three heavens - our atmosphere, where the sun, moon and stars dwell and then God's heaven! But there is only one sky over our heads! Just had that thought. I almost wrote, but the skies are still cloudy, then realized there is just "the sky".
I'm holding at 234.5 - boo. I hate seeing those numbers but have to remind myself that there isn't much I can do to change it. My body is still forming scars around the fat and I can't get rid of that. I would have to eat less than 1000 cals a day to lose any weight at all. I eat 1200-1500 now. Usually the 1500 over the weekend. I looked up a good diet for lipedema and it was suggested that a Ketogenic or Mediterranean diet are the best ones. No to the Mediterranean - too many veggies. I do need to add some veggies to my diet though and I will choose the ones that they suggested. I can do a smoothie where I can get spinach and berries in, as well as my yogurt and granola. I can do broccoli with cheese melted on top, but other than that, I like the veggies that have a sugar content - boo! More meat! Yay! I'll see what I can do with that. My breakfast is a super food muffin - good. And one of my meals is the yogurt, apple, and granola - that's good too. It's my dinners that have too much processed foods in them. Oh, and my super thin pretzel sticks have lots of salt on them, not good. I may go back to sweet potato fries. I also have Chomps sticks for a snack. Time to cut out the afternoon snack too. Breakfast at 7-8; lunch at 11-12; dinner at 3-3:30, snack at 5:30, then I'm done. We'll see how that works.
