Does running out my front door count? I don't do much with videos but I also don't use my gym membership either. Running and cycling seems to work best for me. I do a little weight training and body weight exercises as well but until I get serious about triathlon training and join the YMCA, everything I do is home based.

I used to live in Davenport, Iowa, home of the Bix 7. It is a 7 miler on a simple out and back course but the simplicity disappears at the start as runners stare up the Brady Street hill. Because of it's out and back nature Newton's law must be observed. What goes up, must come down. One day I will return to Davenport to…

I've only done one trail race and it was of the 5K variety. It featured running through a recently mown prairie, gravel road, a little asphalt, and some true single track mud trails. I showed up with no clue what the terrain would be. The best advice I would have is to wear decent trail shoes with a rock plate to protect…

While I understand the appeal of yaktrax, I've never felt the need for them. Instead I use trail shoes for most of my Winter running. Of course, I do tend to stick to sidewalks and streets for my winter runs. If you're running with proper form, keeping your feet under your center of gravity and not overstriding, traction…

Proof of my point regarding ugly race face. That is actually a quite gleeful face, at least it was 30 seconds later when I crossed the finish line.
-
Glee, shouldn't all running be done with glee? We're healthy enough to be out in fresh air. Confident enough that we show off pictures with ugly race face. And we're crazy enough to practice other sports punishment. We ought to be overloaded with glee.

If they were fellow runners, those were looks of awe and jealousy.

^^^Works for me. I tend to be pretty skeptical of anything Dr. Oz promotes. I consider him just another pitchman hawking the wares of the highest bidder.

Running stores love runners. Running store employees are nearly always runners themselves and they love to help other runners find what works best for them. There is definitely no need to be shy.
-
The best advice I can give is to find a store that specializes in running. They can answer all your questions and many can provide gait analysis where they can match shoes based on your running stride and footstrike pattern.

Same here. Just hit my ten day mark this morning. Add me if you'd like more friends.

Running and cycling! Sadly I live in Iowa where it is currently cold and the streets are packed with snow and ice so right now all I'm doing is running. Some days I look longingly at my bike dreaming of hopping on for a 100 mile ride.

Granted I do not own my own pair of breasts, but from what I've observed women who were busty before chubby tend to maintain more of their size after weight loss. Women who were less endowed prior to weight gain are more likely to lose cup sizes because their breasts grew more from weight gain than from natural genetics.

Awesome, I've found a post from my previous life here on MFP. It's 18 months old but now Dam2Dam is just 5 1/2 months away again. I wound up getting fat and lazy again after D2D 2013 (truthfully it was injury and job changes that killed my dedication). I'm back to logging and back to running and now that Dam2Dam is a half…

Good article. I like how they present the information. However, the plan at MFP sets you up to eat at a deficit. If you want to maintain that preset deficit, by all means eat those exercise calories. However, the danger in doing this is that it is far too easy to underestimate your intake and overestimate your cardio burn.…

Hi Nikki, if you'd like, you can feel free to send a friend request my way. I'm 47 with 40+ pounds to go. I'm all about the outside exercise with my running addiction and my love of biking.
-
Hi Liam, welcome to MFP. I'm Dan, 47 with another 40+ pounds to lose. I'm always available for new friends.
-
Good job. The real key is to just never give up. We all have setbacks and times we want to quit but winners never quit.
-
Sure. I'll friend you.

Protein shakes are an easy way to increase your protein numbers without raising calories too high.

Last night I paid my registration for the Hillbilly Hike Half Marathon on November 7, 2015. While I plan to run a half prior to this one, this is the first one I've registered for. I'll also be running the Dam 2 Dam Half Marathon at the end of May but registration for that race hasn't opened yet.

The knuckle lights simply strap around your fingers. I hardly notice that they are there. I'm still able to use my hands as needed. I find them very convenient.
-
I use knuckle lights. No excess head weight. They don't blind your running partners if you turn to look at them. I've also found that they are brighter than some headlights. I have one running buddy whose headlight pretty much disappears compared to my knuckle lights. They are also reasonably priced at about $40.

If you're dining out always check the restaurant's website first. Their database will be up to date while the database here could be four years old for an entirely different product.
-
How you doing?
-
I'm always looking for new friends. I'll send a request.

One thing that has worked for me is to eat small several times a day. I think it helps to keep blood sugar level throughout my day which leads to less bingeing.

In 2014 I only logged 370 miles but 90% percent of that came after June 1st. My only real goals for 2015 are to get back to 185 lbs. and run my first sub 2:00 half marathon. That said, I think 1000 miles will be a good number to shoot for.

Sent a friend request. I'm always looking to add more running friends. To all who read this post, feel free to add me.

Yes! The app works, but it only works as hard as you do. I used MFP in 2012 and lost 80 pounds. Sadly, I got lazy when dealing with some life changes and put 50 back on. I'm back to logging and back to losing weight. You just have to maintain your discipline.
