  • I admire you spreadsheet people! I’m more of a journaler, and I just enter a new weight in my stats here when I drop a couple. But now almost a year in, I kind of wish I had my stats all laid out like you do.
  • Wow, @NovusDies, what a perfect description of how LIFE CHANGING weight loss can be. It’s not just about looking better, or even being healthier. Drastic weight loss affects all aspects of life, and it’s nice to have this group of people who understand!
  • @merph518 and @NovusDies — you are both sweet husbands! I have been on both sides. A couple years ago, my husband and I were both trying to lose weight. I did everything right and lost a few pounds. He gave up pop and lost 50 pounds in a week. Ok, maybe it wasn’t quite that drastic, but it was very noticeable, very…
  • @conniewilkins56 Sometimes the biggest victories are the things you DIDN’T do! Great job staying in control!
  • @hansep0012 Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll look into that type of device. I definitely like the price point!
  • I appreciate the replies here because I’ve been thinking about asking for some kind of fitness watch for Christmas, but I don’t even know where to start. My daughter had two of the very basic fit bits a few years ago. Each lasted about a year then stopped holding a charge. A couple friends love their Apple watches, but…
  • @NovusDies — Yay for new pictures! If you’ve avoided the camera as desperately as I have over the years, that is a big deal! I hope you find a shirt and jacket that make you feel great. I am sorry though to hear about your other reason for needing the nice clothes. It’s such a difficult situation, and there is still grief…
  • I jogged! Just a tiny bit, but I did it. I’ve been contemplating trying a C25K program but couldn’t quite get up the nerve. Yesterday on my walk, I was on a stretch of the path that goes behind houses, with no one around. So I decided to run to the last house, and I made it! I did a couple more short intervals after that…
  • @conniewilkins56 -Wooohooo! You’ve made amazing progress! You’ll hit the 50-pound milestone before you know it. I know what you mean about the ups and downs blurring together. I’m really not sure what my lowest weights were in the last 15 years... but I know I never stayed there long! I’m closing in on my pre-pregnancy…
  • I was so proud of myself for making a meal plan for the week. I went to two grocery stores, and prepped/chopped meat and veggies for the next few days so dinner would be easy to throw together. My reward is that now everything in my fridge smells like chopped onions, even though they were in a sealed container. (Grumble…
  • New jeans are nice, but this is the most important aspect of weight loss. Congrats on taking control of your health!
  • My number for the day is 16. That’s the size of the jeans I bought yesterday! I was stuffing myself into tight 20/22’s last winter. This is significant because I tried them on and bought them in a store! I’m 6ft tall, and in this world, women can be tall and thin or average height and fat... but not tall and fat. Regular…
  • Staying within 10 calories of your goal is super impressive! You handled the weekend wonderfully. It’s great that your family was supportive, as well. So many people on these boards complain about family pushing food or making them feel guilty for not trying grandma’s special dessert. I’ve been making my strategy for the…
  • 👖🎉😊 Yay! Celebrate new (old) jeans! I got into a pair this week too. I still need to work on losing the muffin top, but they were inches away from buttoning last winter. And I was searching all over for my skinny jeans before realizing I was WEARING THEM! They’re just so much looser in the hips/ legs now I thought they…
  • That’s amazing Merph!
  • 280 sticks of butter! Or 14 bricks! I love this thread.
  • @tinkerbellang83 I love that you include a gratitude journal in your goals! And sleep and meditation, too. My goals have been very narrowly focused on calorie deficits and weight loss, but I’ve been struggling with stress and some bigger life issues. I think adding a gratitude journal and yoga/meditation would help me find…
  • My daughters’ volleyball game tonight is doing a “Pink Out” benefit to support a local breast cancer charity. They asked fans to wear pink, but my only pink shirt is dirty. So I went into my 16 yo daughter’s closet to borrow something! She’s about 60 pounds lighter than me (she’s my goal weight), but she likes things…
  • I definitely need to get a belt. My jeans do have loops, but only for a narrow belt. I generally don’t like wearing them, but its a necessity now. Don’t get me started on the pocket issue! Lol!
  • Ug, I’m sorry you were put in that situation (especially during something that is supposed to be a relaxing!). I am pretty private about most things, but I hate, HATE talking about my weight in “real life.” I just think we shouldn’t talk about one another’s bodies ever. I’m at the point where people are starting to comment…
  • Yes! I know exactly what you mean. The weather is turning cooler, so I got my family’s coats out of storage. My coat from last year is a 3X, and it’s pretty big on me now. I really like my 16yo daughter’s coat, and I’m thinking about ordering the same style in different color. I still weigh about 50 pounds more than her,…
  • I’ve had “borderline” high blood pressure for the last couple years. I never had to take medication for it, but I was close to that point. I had to monitor it daily for a while, to make sure I stayed in the range my doctor was comfortable with, but somewhere along the way I got lazy and stopped doing that. I really haven’t…
  • Today I will: 1) stay within my calories 2) eat at least 4 servings of veggies (I’ve mostly focused on eating LESS to lose weight, but I’m starting to focus on eating BETTER for overall health) 3) walk at least 3 miles
  • I hope it’s ok to jump in here. I’ve been using MFP since last Christmas, but I’m mostly just a lurker on the boards. I found a small, closed group here that has been very helpful, but it’s not very active right now. I’ve grown to enjoy sharing this experience with others, so I thought I’d introduce myself here. I’ll be 42…
  • I’d like to join! I don’t like to post on the open forums, but I love the idea of being part of a smaller, supportive group.
