  • May not be a NSV per se, but I stopped logging for the last two months or so and only gained a pound. I know, it's not the same as maintaining or losing, but I guess I've started to ingrain in myself the fact I can't pig out, that I should have really sensible breakfasts and lunches, etc.
  • 154 is when I will be "normal" weight and not "overweight" or "obese"
  • Congratulations on starting this journey! It's a great attitude to have. Just remember to take it one day at a time and to really track everything you eat.
  • Weight loss and tanning. In college I managed to get down to 125 lbs, at 5' 6", and I only had 1, maybe 2 dimples, and that was me looking really hard. Now, 10 years later at 190 lbs.... yikes! Tanning always helps as well, but I hate lying on my stomach on the beach since everyone will see the cellulite more. Circular…
  • Lost two pounds this week! And all my pants that were too tight (but I refused to go to a larger size -- vanity...) now are kind of loose. 10 pounds down, 40 more to go!
  • Why not start today? Why tomorrow? Not to sound corny, but today is the first day in the rest of your life. You can always put things off til tomorrow, but down the road, you will have wished you started today.
  • Large can of chickpeas rinsed. Throw in food processor with a couple of cloves of garlic, salt and pepper, and if you have any flavorings lying around, add those too (I like adding cilantro, parsley, kalamata olives, basil, or anything lying around). Add maybe a tablespoon of tahini -- it's strong stuff. Then blend it…
  • I have an elliptical and love it. It gives a little arm workout too, and it just "feels" easier, even though I sweat more on it than a treadmill and get my heart racing faster. It's simply that it's less impact which I love. Be careful though. If you get an elliptical, make sure to keep pushing yourself and increasing…
  • I couldn't live without bread. Well, I could, but I wouldn't want to. But I usually only enjoy high quality bakery-quality bread so it's worth the calories.
  • Umm perhaps I should be embarrassed considering everyone else's work outs but I do 2-3 times a week, 30 minutes each time on the elliptical. Maybe some day I'll increase that, but it's a lot for me since it's the first time I've ever stuck to a work out routine in any sense of the phrase
  • That would be unhealthy. Say you're talking 20 lbs in 6 weeks, that would be 3 1/3 lbs a week. It's not healthy to lose more than 2 lbs a week, and that's when you have a lot to lose. You'll be starving yourself to try to lose 20 lbs in that time. 10 lbs, maybe...
  • a Thomas's bagel thin and 2 TBSP whipped cream cheese. 160 calories!
  • You are looking great! Great work! Can I ask how long it took to lose that weight and if you have any tips? The only success story I have to share today is a NSV. I'm down only 8 lbs (out of the 45 or so I need to lose) but the first person told me today they could tell I was losing weight!
  • to satisfy a sweet craving, i'll get a dunkin donuts sm hot cocoa without whipped cream. it's almost cloyingly sweet, which i love, and satisfies my chocolate craving, plus the warmth of it is satisfying. all in all, i perfect sweet solution for me. or a fiber one brownie microwaved a bit to be warm. as to salty, if i'm…
  • Definitely that's me. Besides the other obvious health reasons, my husband and I are planning to start TTC next December. I have around 40 lbs I want to lose before that. Being overweight and pregnant sounds like a nightmare for both mother and baby, and I want to be healthy for pregnancy, delivery, and as a mom.
  • Then: a tight 16 in bottoms, 12 in tops. Only 10 lbs down, but now a not-tight 16 in bottoms and looser 12 in tops. That's how I realized it was time to buckle down -- I didn't want to go up to an 18 or plus size, and I stepped on the scale and saw I had hit 200.
  • SW: 201 CW: 195 GW: 154 (just into "normal" BMI) Height: 5'6"
  • it also is a good way to avoid binging. craving something but not hungry? exercise a bit. or at least you'll get a few extra calories to splurge on a treat
  • yes. somehow it makes me less bloated (or at least feel that way)
  • For me, I get up early on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and use my elliptical for 30 mins. I learned that I was surfing the net reading the news and facebook for 30 mins every morning in bed. I decided, why not just do it on the elliptical? Not the perfect solution for everyone, and I know it should be for longer/more…
  • I'll buy myself 1 or 2 cadbury creme eggs and freeze them. I'll have one on Easter, and then one the day after if I've had a little too much Easter fun...
  • I'm preparing for a 3 week cruise of West Africa next fall. I know I'll definitely gain weight on it (I know I don't "have" to, but come on, a three week vacation with open bar and restaurant food three meals a day, I can't help myself :) ) I want to get to a healthy weight for that so that trip is kind of my reward
  • One good chocolate craving I've found is Dunkin Donuts hot chocolate (if it's around you). Without whipped cream it's really not bad, and it takes a while to drink and it uber uber sweet. Also, for salty, getting the Kraft mac n cheese single serving instant cups (and yes, it's terrible but I'll salt it if it's desperate…

  • Congrats on the menu changes! I was definitely surprised, but mine is more because I'm a volume eater. Grilled chicken and grilled veges? I'd eat probably half a pound of chicken and gosh knows how many veges. And I'm a nibbler too, so much so that I wouldn't be hungry for dinner since while I was cooking it I'd "taste" it…
