  • If you don't like proteins and can't "handle" carbohydrates it sounds like you might want to switch to an all lard diet. Sure it might be difficult to get past the taste and texture, but you would get to avoid the proteins and carbohydrates you are trying to avoid. Additionally, since fats are 9 calories per gram compared…
  • I don't get that reaction so quickly and enjoy the occasional steak as a snack. I have found that going a few days without Soylent will affect me and I will start craving it, but only after a few days. With that being said, I will admit that I have ignored the signals of my body for most of my life (hence why I am trying…

  • @shanehayes11‌ I had the original Fitbit and loved it until I washed it a few times and finally broke it when it got snagged on my steering wheel when I was getting out of my car one day. (Snap!) I ordered the HR a few weeks ago, but is currently on backorder and I am still waiting for mine to be built. I REALLY miss the…
  • I try to drink my Soylent during normal meal time. Once for breakfast and once for lunch with a sensible meal for dinner. Sometimes I crave the American breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast, and a glass of OJ. I will just switch it up and drink Soylent for dinner instead that day. Definitely meals though and not…

  • I make a pitcher at a time. When I finish off a pitcher I clean it, let it dry and finish the final glass of Soylent. After finishing the glass of Soylent I make a new batch in the pitcher and refrigerate it for the next go round. I rarely consume a pitch in a day, but about every day and a half is starting to become a…

  • That is one heck of a nice recipe for DIY Soylent. I can tell you put a hell of a lot of time and effort into creating that recipe! From what I understand that is also a great paleo recipe as well. Seriously very nice work!

  • LOL... I definitely feel as though you were able to make your point.

  • I do the same thing at the grocery. :) Try to keep it simple and stay out of the isles as much as possible. I was told the good stuff is found on the outside of the store that surrounds all the stuff on the shelves. My sister does farm deliveries as well and really likes it. Unfortunately they are done for the season and…

  • Fair enough. I try to do the same thing and felt there was about a similar risk from trying Soylent as there would be from eating the boxed foods found in grocery stores. I REALLY like chivaryder's idea of the 100-mile diet and hope to incorporate that into my own nutritional needs in the future.

  • @emmydoodles83, I hate to break it to you, but unless you are eating a completely organic diet with no manufactured products you are already a guinea pig for companies like Monsanto who promote and control GMO food production in this country. I like Soylent because there isn't Corn Syrup or Red Die #5 to make it look and…

  • @chivalryder‌ you above statements are the exact same for me as well. Very rarely, and I do mean rarely, do I get a craving for foods that are in the "bad for you" category. In fact, I have found that if I eat just regular food over a weekend with no Soylent I will start craving Soylent by the time Monday morning comes…

  • ahamm002 you bring up some valid points for people to consider, but you are also assuming Soylent has no long-term value. The convenience factor of Soylent really cannot be overlooked. As an example, breakfast for most Americans was bacon, eggs, toast, and maybe some hashbrowns or grits. Over time, the time necessary to…

  • @chivalryder‌ could you do me a favor and send me a link to your recipe. I would like to check it out for future reference in-case I decide to switch to a DIY Soylent.

  • For those of you going off about nutritional minimums, I thought I would add a quote that I found fitting. "Once our nutrient needs are met, we don’t get extra credit for eating more nutritious food!" - Eric Helms

  • @50452 I am not using a DIY recipe, but rather just the purchased version you get from Soylent itself. Started with the 1.0 version and am just a few days away from finishing the rest of that supply up and starting the new version 1.4 that I received last week. Looking forward to trying out the new batch as it is suppose…

  • @chivalryder I too originally chose Soylent as a cost saver. The convenience and nutritional makeup of Soylent was just a bonus for me. Nothing quite like being able to mix a pitch up the night before and drink it throughout the day for your nutritional needs. I haven't been willing to invest the time to research DIY…

  • Glad to hear there are others using Soylent. I received the original shipment (one month supply) and liked the product, but was not "ready" to start my weight loss/lifestyle change which was the reason I was originally interested in it. The idea of nutritious meals with little thought or preparation really appealed too me.…
