I find that I lose more weight over the weekend. The reason being that I have more time in the morning to make myself a big breakfast and don't need to eat as much for the rest of the day. I eat high fat, low carb so my breakfast weekend breakfast would usually be scrambled eggs with full fat cheese and bacon. Then I only…

Hey guys! I'm 21 and have another 45kgs to lose. I've already lost 18kgs. Everyone feel free to add me :)

Mamabirdboss I'm not even going to argue with you cause you clearly don't understand the science behind insulin resistance.

Learning to love myself. Making healthy choices and doing good things for my body out of love rather than hate has been the game changer for me. Now eating well is enjoyable and working out feels like 'me time'. :)

I'm not denying that you have the power to fix it. I am saying that it's important to know the cause of the cravings and how to stop them happening rather than just trying to ignore them and getting hypoglycaemic symptoms. The OP said that her doctor didn't provide her with a lot of information about what was going on and…

I find it really helpful to write WHY I'm eating in the notes of my food diary. It helps me to recognise the patterns I have with eating, the kinds of foods I jump to when I'm stressed, angry or upset and if I'm eating out of boredom rather than hunger.

So the 7 years, 18 doctors and numerous fad diets it took to diagnose my PCOS and insulin resistance is because I was ignoring my weight gain? Not everyone with PCOS is insulin resistant so I'm sure not everyone you know who has PCOS is overweight. I'm not blaming the food. I'm saying I was told for years I was eating the…

The food pyramid used to suggest that the largest part of your diet should be grains, cereals, pasta, bread, rice, etc. It has only been adjusted in the past couple of years. If people weren't fully educated about nutrition past the food pyramid they learnt in school it would be very easy for them to think eating plenty of…

The rest of the weight is not just from overeating. Insulin resistance means that there's a fault in the lock and key mechanism that takes glucose into the cells in the muscles. When it struggles with that it produces more insulin to compensate, converts the glucose to glycogen and stores it as fat. This drops your blood…

Hahah yeah I have no idea how to use the quote function. I'm lost with it. Good luck to you to!

Best advice I was ever given when diagnosed. Buy a book called 'The Fat Revolution'. You won't feel like you are missing out on any delicious food and will not be hungry! I've lost 17.5kgs(38.5 pounds) in 3 months using this book with much more to go. Feel free to add me :)

Hey Becca, I was diagnosed a little over 3 months ago and so far I have lost 17.5kgs(38.5 pounds). I currently weigh 135kgs (297 pounds). I plateau every few weeks as my body adjusts to the lower cal intake and the exercise I am doing. When I start to plateau, I change up my work outs swapping between doing high weights…

Diet = food and drink regularly consumed. You are still eating a 'diet' even if you aren't counting calories and trying to lose weight.

Low carb should never mean no carb. Stick to low GI carbs like sweet potato, quinoa, grainy breads and legumes. To start with going low carb is SO HARD, particularly because your body is adjusted to the level of glucose coming in. Low GI carbs will take longer to be broken down into glucose, being released slowly into the…

Hey! I found out I have PCOS about 3 months ago. I've lost 17.5kg already and have about 45-50kg to go. Everyone feel free to add me :)

Totally do-able!! I've lost 17.5kg (38.5 pounds) in 3 months. I probably have a lot more to lose than you do so it may have been a little quicker for me in the beginning. MFP is so helpful and everyone on here is wonderful at motivating each other. Feel free to add or message me if you like :)

OP I spent a long time feeling like this. In my experience hating and shaming yourself is the least motivating thing in the world! I am a firm believer that you have to love yourself in order to practice the self care needed for weight loss. It was really hard to convince myself that I deserved to do good things for my…

I find weights to be so much more effective than cardio for weight loss. My standard workout is 15-20 minutes on the elliptical or treadmill as a warm up, aiming to keep my heart rate at a fat burning rate (50-60% of your maximum heart rate). Then I do high reps of low weights with shorter rests in between. Very easy to do…

I have MFP set to sedentary (I work in an office and am chained to my desk most of the day). I am 5'11" and currently weigh 135.3kg (roughly 300 pounds). My goal is to get to around 90kg. MFP recommends I eat around 1700 cal a day. Whenever I work out MFP tells me I can have another 750-850 cal. I find that I don't need it…

I've been overweight all my life and only found out 3 and a half months ago that I have PCOS. So far I've been able to lose 17.5kg (38.5 pounds) since I found out. I've been following a book called 'The Fat Revolution' which is low carb, high natural fats and is highly recommended for PCOS. I also do weights rather than…

alyshalise I have coeliacs as well. It's really common for people with PCOS to have coeliacs or some form of gluten intolerance. 2 X fun inflammatory diseases!
