  • Got one for xmas, so far I like it but haven't really been way into it as of yet. I have the charge HR. I can definitely appreciate the info it's been giving me so far!
  • Also... If you're not getting enough magnesium/potassium in your diet, this can also cause "cramp" type tension. Oh and I forgot to mention the most important factor of all... HYDRATION!
  • A few things... 1. Stretch your calves (this may include foam rolling and all of that type of stuff) before AND after workouts. Also stretch your hamstrings. Sometimes the calves are overworked because of entire posterior chain tension... Hold a stretch for MORE than 40seconds. Don't listen to the 20-30second bs. 2.…
  • I decided not to read this whole thread but from what I did read... Who cares?
  • Mississauga here :)
  • Looks like some of you need to find yourselves a good physiotherapist/athletic therapist (or athletic trainer if you're American). Don't let one bad health professional ruin it for the rest of them. Some of these comments are pure bs.
  • I've torn my ACL 3 times, have had surgeries except for the third time because it was going to be career ending athletically (and in many other ways) for me if I did. All 3 were done by contact mechanisms. I'm also an athletic therapist and a strength conditioning specialist and I've kind of become a knee guru when it…
  • This varies depending on goals and there's a lot of scientific stuff that is required to get the physiological best suiting numbers. Rule of thumb though... Protein = 1g for every pound you weigh (ex. 170lbs = 170g of protein). If you want to build muscle, then you can add to this but again, that science things comes into…
  • Okay so from what I've read, majority of what is being said is false. Your knee - regardless of position and or activity, is a joint that is basically a hinge. If something below or above the hinge (ie. The foot or the pelvis/hip) isn't quite working as it should, force transfer isn't very good and effects the knee, and…
  • Just an added comment in reading this thread and similar threads to this... People need to seriously cool it on the negative criticism and judgement about the whole gluten free thing. Whether it's a diet choice based on medical issues, potential medical and health concerns, or just an overall choice in regards to weight…
  • Random question here. But since this "autoimmune diseases travel in packs" thing has been coming up a lot... What are some of the other autoimmune diseases everyone has going on? Hereditary? Random?
  • Hashis here too... Diagnosed about 4 years ago. Not going to repeat what everyone's said on here, so all I'm going to say is... It can definitely be frustrating. I was always really active my whole life, so I find that I personally have to continue to be active and when I wanna create a deficit and speed up the weight loss…
  • I'm 5'8 and tend to fluctuate between 155-160. Ideally I'd like to be 145ish, 150. That's my goal right now.
  • Thanks so much! This site looks great!
  • I get that impression! lol And when I have the time, I most certainly do like to bake so I can!
  • I'm aware it won't "detox"... Jeez. lol it was a term I was using. I'm a bit aways from testing, but since celiac is an autoimmune disease and I've got one of those already, my endocrinologist would like to do the testing when applicable. And How did asking for recipe and snack suggestions become a critique of my health?…
  • It's because I was in severe discomfort and working out of town so couldn't get the testing done. I am seeing a GI doc once my work schedule lessens and by then I will be back to a "normal" diet for the testing.
  • I tried the wheat free thing and it didn't quite rid me of my symptoms so that's when I made the move to gluten free. I'd always eaten gluten free pastas because normal pastas never settled with me but had wheat otherwise regularly so now I'm changing things up to "detox" and then slowly start adding some wheat back and…
  • I am currently on an elimination diet for health reasons. I am lactose intolerant and have been for years however, still was eating very small amounts of dairy. I have an autoimmune disease in regards to my hypothyroidism and the last month, eating any products with gluten had caused intense cramping/digestive issues, and…
  • I have hashimotos, was diagnosed about 4 years ago. I'm usually fine with the medication daily. However, the last month or so, every time I eat, I've been an absolute mess, especially when gluten is involved, so I've decided to go entirely gluten and dairy free for a bit and see what happens. Kind of trial and error to see…
  • Thanks everyone! Glad to know that there are others with the same struggle. I am definitely going to work on all of these ideas - especially the protein shake! Keep the suggestions coming! Seems like all of us can use them if anyone out there on Mfp has mastered the disastrous schedule eating
  • Hahaha, very solid rules. Majority of my patients are back to back, and a lot of the time I chart at the end of my day. There are occasions where I can definitely snack between patients. Looks like I'm hiding a jar of peanut butter in my office!
  • Yay Toronto people! I'm pumped about this thread.
