I am now 60 and have been on MFP for over 5 years. When I started, I was averaging 165 pounds (I'm 5'7"), with spikes to 168. It was difficult for me to get my pants and shirts to fit, and my inner cheapskate did not want me to buy a whole lot more clothes. One of my college friends on FB posted about how he had just lost…

I was at a singles-oriented religious service. The service was about to start and I was talking to a guy next to me. A couple walked in looking for a seat. I told the guy next to me to move over so I could also and make room for this couple. The woman sat next to me with the guy in the aisle. I was showing the woman what…

I also quit cold turkey and switched to drinking (a lot of) water. Sometimes I will add a drop of soda to the water I am drinking just to give flavor. In my case, I never drank diet or caffeinated sodas. I consider the diet ones to be toxic anyway. It's been over a year now, and if I do drink a regular soda, the sugary…

I had one set of grandparents born in Greece. Does that count?

We just had five birthdays this past month, and all that proved to be quite the caloric challenge!

Hi everyone! Sorry I have not checked in for awhile. I still have the lump of mulch in the yard. My neighbor took some for his bushes, which saved me some shoveling. In our household, it has been a group effort minus the other three people in the household. This week is going to be a little crazy as I have a fast coming…

Hi everyone! Just bumping this thread. I am now down 14 pounds from where I started (though I think I entered a lower starting weight when I started MFP). In any case, I crossed below the 150 lb. mark for the first time in YEARS! Tomorrow my wife and I are doing a "date night," so we have something else to celebrate (even…

Congrats, and best wishes for you to achieve all your goals!

Our kids are 14 and 10. My wife is also musical (soprano). She has a few part time jobs but finds time to sing. She also has more will-power (a lot more than I do), but is supportive of me in my MFP goals.

Great run! I have a couple of books to read, one a novel from the trip we took to France over a month ago that I still haven't finished, and some other book I got as a gift. Sometimes I think I read more effectively when I get books from the library, as I have a deadline to return it. Recently, I read a bio of Alexander…

Mike, thanks for being such an inspiration. My week was OK, though I was "making up" for the excesses of the last weekend. So I think I am getting back on track. The good news is that the new "high" is still ten pounds below my previous weight! I am close to my new low, so maybe getting through the weekend and the next…

I think the French do not eat as much as Americans. Restaurant portions aren't as large, from our observation. It was interesting, at leas tin Paris, that a glass of wine was cheaper than a can of soda (and no refills in either case). I hope you got some good crèpes and cidre in Brittany as the place is known for that…

Up bright and early, working at home! Maybe I can get the lawn done, too. Let's see if I can avoid eating excess this weekend. We are celebrating a birthday in the family, which will involve going out to a restaurant, so this may prove difficult.

Does the Nutribullet (and its imitators) really give you more nutrition that an ordinary blender won't?
-
Likewise! I was working at home today but also had to play "Mr. Mom" for a bit. This cut into my walking plans, but I managed to make up for it this evening. Do you find you eat more when the kids are around?
