I'm going to try this training plan for a few weeks before moving on to any kind of intense plans... http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/easiest-strength-training-plan-ever

Gym memberships in my area are about $30-$40 per week, I can do boxing for $10 a class, and yes that extra $10-$20 per week would be pushing it

Should I maybe just start with some compound exercises using my dumbbells and swiss ball at home?
-
I do a 60-90 minute class (meant to be 60 minutes but we often go over just to get in some good meditation time!) once a week and also follow YouTube videos by Yoga With Adrienne - she has some awesome videos and a great 30 days of yoga challenge which really gets you into it!

Thanks for your reply. It's good to know people understand! I love yoga but I feel like it would take years to build up a decent amount of strength doing just yoga... I think I need some kind of weight lifting/resistance type exercises as well a couple of times a week, I'm just not sure where to start! That's not to say I…

Thanks all, made my diary public :-)

A 16 hour fast sounds very similar to simply skipping either breakfast or dinner? I was always told skipping meals was bad for you?
-
Thanks all :-) Personally at the moment I'm mainly focused on diet. I've been unwell for the last three months (chronic fatigue like symptoms plus other issues from coming off medication) and have lost a huge amount of fitness and strength, so my exercise will consist of walking and yoga for the next few weeks. I'm really…

Thanks, that's really helpful to know!

I think I like the idea of a 24 hour fast once per week... something like starting a fast at 6pm to 6pm the following day.
-
It just seems like there are so many methods - fasting for 24 hours once a week, fasting for 3 days or 5 days with maybe one meal each day... even fasting has different definitions - no food at all, 500 calories, 800 calories, one meal only, fruit or vegetable juice only... I have no idea which one to go with!

Usually working, or doing chores at home.

Think my deficit is 400 calories. The rest of my diet isn't exactly dull, there's some nice flavourful foods in there. By crappy food I mean lacking in nutrition (or at least useful nutrition).
-
To make it even harder, I'm surrounded by cr*ppy food for most of my day - there's a whole shelf of cookies in the kitchen at work, there's a cafe in the foyer with slices all over the counter, there's fundraiser chocolate bars all over the office, there's birthday cakes and baked goodies that people bring in and push in…

Already doing both of these!

Like I said, I'm not even thinking when I'm buying it, when the cravings are at their strongest thinking 'oh, no, don't do it' isn't going to stop me!

Hi dutchandkiwi, I've actually been doing and/or tried the things I've listed above for a few years now, not a few days! I'm no longer doing some as after 6 months they just weren't working for me, but I certainly have everything a good go.

Got this done on Thursday night...

That would never work for me as I also have low blood pressure, I need to eat regularly to stop myself from fainting. I'm the queen of invisible illnesses :-)
-
I was diagnosed with IBS about 6 years ago, currently doing my second round of a low FODMAP diet, it's not helping with the feeling of tedium as it takes so much more planning and effort to prepare meals!
-
Thanks :-)

Sounds even worse than not eating to me! I guess I just get fed up because foods that are 'safe' for me for a time can suddenly change and start giving me horrific issues. It's a never ending guessing game and no matter how 'clean' or simply I eat I still have issues.

What is Soylent? I hope it's nothing to do with Soylent Green!!!

So much trolling.
-
Not doing any more than usual, but I'm certainly finding it harder to do my usual exercises!
-
I've actually upped my calorie intake and improved my overall diet

3 for me so far, booked in to get another in 2 weeks (which will be a HUGE improvement on the ones I already have). I got all these when I was 18-21 and plan on getting them retouched/added to sometime in the future... My first which I designed myself: I didn't really think this one through, just got a bunch of stars for…

If you really want to make the switch to black coffee I'd suggest giving Teechino a try, some of there chocolate infused mixes are great with coffee :)

Good point, I haven't tried agave yet
