  • We had a lot of concerns before having Becca too and of course, we've ended up with a lot more responsibility than we planned for. (We had two incomes, a small condo with minimal mortgage payments, spent our evenings gaming or doing whatever.) Sometimes I miss the life we had before and I won't say I haven't had dark…
  • Thomas and Emily are the names we have picked out. I am definitely a fan of traditional, classic names. Alexander, Andrew, Jason. I like Richard but do not like what some people shorten it to. William is nice too. I told my husband that I want another girl though and he said sure.
  • While pregnant I avoided a lot of the food(anything I knew about), plus hot baths, alcohol, people smoking, advil (which is technically okay until the 3rd trimester but I didn't take it.) I ate way better while pregnant and walked a lot more than I had before. Dropped 15 pounds at the beginning despite not having any…
  • @puffbrat Eww, that doesn't sound very nice. (I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have morning sickness.) Good luck either way you want it, September isn't too far away at least!
  • Thanks everyone, I appreciate it so much. I'm feeling a lot better now after the weekend, especially since I've got my eating back under control. My husband and I talked about things and we've decided we need to push forward as if the lawsuit doesn't exist. We've been playing a holding pattern for much too long, waiting to…
  • Sadly, nope. On the very last day they appealed the decision. Apparently it is a very common stalling tactic, because from their point of view, why not? They get to make 100's of thousands more in interest on that money which more then pays for the extra legal costs. So now we are stuck for another 1-2 years while we wait…
  • If you're having a hard time with control it isn't a terrible idea, but remember it won't necessarily lead to 4 pounds of weight loss rapidly. My maintenance is about 2000 calories while sedentary, so 5 days of 2000 and 2 days of 500 only leaves me with a weekly deficit of 3000, less then a pound. As long as you are not…
  • Awesome @teegan84! Congratulations! I love that you're sticking around and it sounds like a few more of us are going to as well. And that is crazy how much cheaper the pregnancy tests are even on Canadian Amazon, wow!
  • I never did the early indicator test personally, the failure rate seemed too high and I would have just taken another anyway. We tried for 5 months before getting pregnant with Rebecca and it's weird but I knew we had managed to hit the right timing that month before I even took the test. I hope it works out @VeryKatie !
  • @VeryKatie Welcome back! I hope you had a great trip. So exciting that you're trying and keeping up with your goals. I'm having a tough time with food at the moment so I've decided to switch my calories to maintenance but concentrate on my exercise goals. I know being more consistent with exercise will help me feel less…
  • I want a milkshake so much now! Mmm, I might just save some calories to have one on Thursday. Or make cookies... hmm.
  • I made planning dinner easier by putting together a list of all the dinners that my husband and I like. Then each week I look at our grocery fliers, if meats or certain veggies are on sale (like bell peppers) then I put them on the grocery list and add the appropriate meal to my dinners for the week list. I like to plan…
  • @CharliWhitman Welcome to the group! You can definitely do it and hopefully your boyfriend will be a bit more helpful. Try to make everything as easy as you can on yourself so that when you run out of willpower it isn't hard to just stick to the plan. Personally the things that have helped me the most are: water bottle…
  • @WifiresGettingFit The appeals period is thankfully only 30 calendar days. We've got 24 more days to go. (The countdown gets mentioned several times a day in our household!) There is still a little bit of flexibility left in the money, so it is very likely they will use the threat of appeal as a leveraging tool to bring…
  • Oh man, it's been full of crazy emotions in our household this last week. We've been pursuing a medical malpractice case in regards to our daughter and we finally got the verdict back from the judge that we won our case! We had our trial at the end of last year, so it's been a long six month wait, plus we started the…
  • Yay! So close @VeryKatie ! I've got baby fever recently. My friend had a little baby boy, I lent her my moby wrap and was showing her how to use it. Oh he just looked so snuggly and squishy in there. We plan on driving to Victoria this weekend to visit my Dad since he's coming in for work from Ont. I'm so excited and I'm…

  • @VeryKatie My husband even came over and read it over my shoulder! 5 hours wouldn't be so bad if there were a road but our little town is blocked in by mountains and it takes two ferries to get to the city. Those ferries are getting more expensive while they continually cut back the services and number of sailings. As…
  • @VeryKatie Thanks so much for the reply, that makes so much more sense than what I was trying to work out in my head! This is all 2-3 years down the road but I can't help trying to plan what I can! We would definitely go with the same option you did. I have no desire to micro-manage it in the other way. As for selling our…
  • @motivatedsister welcome! I am also feeling the time crunch but in my case there are significant increases in risk after 35. When I was younger I wanted to be done having kids by the time I was 30 (had our first at 26) but with her CP and not sleeping for the first 3.5 years that plan went out the window. @VeryKatie We are…
  • Thanks @WifiresGettingFit I appreciate it. And I agree @puffbrat I think it was meant in that way! And yes, having a baby changes things but that doesn't mean your personality or what you want/like changes, you make things work. Even with our medically fragile child we make the five hour trip to the city to participate in…

  • I hope you all stick around! I think I'm the last of everyone for when we are going to start trying and I would miss you! Though I have some experience with pregnancy, with Becca being born at 28 weeks I basically didn't experience the third trimester. If you can believe it, I was still sleeping on my stomach and wasn't…

  • That is so great! October will be here before you know it!
  • It certainly is super expensive even up here in Canada. My husband and I are much more a fan of trade collages but we obviously would not stand in the way of whatever our children decided they wanted. My Dad paid for university for me but my husband was paying off student loans for years after we got together, I would love…
  • Does anyone plan on setting up savings for your children's education or even retirement? When my daughter was born (before we realized she had CP) my Dad talked to my husband and I a lot about savings and what we could do. For example if you put away a dollar a day from when they are born to when they are 18 then leave the…
  • My husband actually brought up names the other night. I was a little shocked since we are not planning on starting to try until next spring. We already have a boy's name picked out, Thomas Elias, since our first was a girl. My husband wants another girl though and is convinced we will have one. We both like Elizabeth,…
  • I managed to get my protein yesterday as well. Though I found my run was terrible. I'm going to see how my jogging goes on friday and monday to see if it was just a one time thing or if having less carbs is effecting that negatively. I found that since all my snacks have to be concentrated around getting more protein I'm…
  • Thanks for sharing the info. We've been thinking of going on a trip next year, though not sure where. We are leaning toward a Disney Cruise, one leaves right out of Vancouver, though I'd love to visit Europe again but I think that might be better to wait for a few more years. I've got it in my head for us to start trying…
  • Managed to get 103 grams of protein in yesterday. It was harder then I thought without going way over calories but I will keep it up.
  • Well, I didn't manage last weeks challenge at all, oops. Week 2 Challenge: I always have trouble getting as much protein as I should, so everyday this week I will get at least 100g of protein. I probably should be getting more then that even, but I normally only get around 60g a day so this will be a good push in the right…
  • I heard a good suggestion for this is to use your charger in the car. That way it charges while you drive and doesn't count any steps. Also most of my walks are done with my daughter in the stroller and my Charge HR counts the steps just fine. I love data, between my fitbit and myfitnesspal I have everything I need to be…
