Yup, pretty normal in the beginning. My dad went super low cal, and dropped that much in 3 weeks. Of course, that gave him the boost to keep going. He's dropping about 3lb a week now. Needless to say, his doctor was thrilled.

If the medication helps with the hunger pains, then there is nothing wrong with using it as a tool. I would much rather take a short term medication than get a highly invasive surgery that removes 3/4 of my stomach. There is no reason to discourage others from losing weight. To each his own.

800 calories a day? Yikes. I do 1200 calories, and I have been losing consistently for a few months now. My starting weight was 226lb, and I just hit 189 lb this morning. I average 3-4 lbs a week.

I did 2 weeks of intermittent fasting. I did an every other day cycle. Perhaps that is what you are looking for? I would eat my normal deficit one day, and then only 500 calories the next day. Back and forth. It worked pretty well.
