  • Well, some young lady made a post about lchf, and got told that she must be some special kind of snowflake (ya know, cause she is such an idiot), how dare she be so foolish as to think that her plan was working for her. How dare she ask others if they have tried the same. Then they started arguing about noodles. NOODLES!!
  • What? Good gravy. I said that posters who call other people names, make rude comments about their looks, and belittle people are sad and lonely people. Since when did cruelty to others become an admirable trait?
  • I am not insulting, but I am tired of being insulted by random interweb gurus. I come on here for info sometimes, and while a lot has been helpful, there are far too many professors and not enough students. I am not a science major, and I won't even pretend to understand the first and second (and umpteenth) law of…
  • I feel your pain. It's amazing how the we use the interwebs every day to ask advice, talk about common goals, and glean info...yet we are told to stop taking it so seriously because the interwebs is actually full of crazy people that like to torture kittens. Some of the posts on the boards are like a bunch of smart kids…
  • Aldi is wonderful. And coupons are not what they used to be. I was one of the coupon crazies for 4 years. I had a dang store in my basement, but once the show came out, the stores started clamping down. Most of them quit doubling q's, which was a staple for a coupon crazy. It's just not worth the 10 hours (or more) per…
  • I have been feeding my family of 6 on about 50 bucks a week now. It's tight, but they are well fed. First, you need to make a list of the cheapest dinners you can make. Spagetti, hot dogs and beans, potato soup, mac n cheese, etc. Try and find 10 you like. Now rotate them 3 times a month. Breakfast for dinner is always…
  • I am 5'3 and started at 226lb. I am at 176lb now, so 50lb gone. Went from a size 20 to a 14 right now. I have at least 45lb to go. I just eat 1200 calories. No exercise because it bums me out. I find that I get super hungry during TOM, and that is my week of only a 1lb loss or so. It's not too difficult to do, but don't…
  • I would agree if the risks were minor, but there is no way that the pain of accountability could be worse than ohhhh....death. Not a die in your sleep death, but a holy cow my sleeve staples opened and I died a horrible and painful death from sepsis; Or the myriad of other awful complications.
  • It really hit home when my bf got the clots. At first I didn't realize how serious it was. They dissolved the clots in her other leg, and stopped one of them that had broken loose. They were able to get the large one down to 2 foot in length, rather than the entire leg, but, it doesn't matter. If the vascular surgeons…
  • The risks are pretty high with the surgery. It's just not worth it. My best friend had it done on August 17th. Seven days later she was in the icu with a blood clot from her ankle to her groin, and a pulmonary embolism. She spent 2 weeks in icu, and now she is meeting with specialists at UofM who are going to try and save…
  • Interesting. I was told that I have ibs. My stomach hurt so bad that it went through my back. I couldn't eat without vomiting, was in er twice....guess what. It wasn't ibs, it was pancreatitis due to Flagyl (which they gave me at the hospital). Thankfully, no long term damage done. I take 2 probiotics to counter effect the…
  • Yup, pretty normal in the beginning. My dad went super low cal, and dropped that much in 3 weeks. Of course, that gave him the boost to keep going. He's dropping about 3lb a week now. Needless to say, his doctor was thrilled.
  • Yowza.....be nice everyone. Cheat days are not a great idea, as you can easily eat up your weekly deficit with one day of super binge eating. But, what if you logged it? I have been doing 1200 cals for a long while now, and yesterday I was super hungry. I ate like a horse....or so I thought. Once I logged my food, it was…
  • I am a chubby gal, and I found her to be adorable. She's blunt, but she is right. I have lost 49lb so far, and got 50lb to go. Ironically, my knees quit hurting about 10lb ago. So, I won't be going to the front of the airport line with that problem anymore
  • Yes, I have a hematologist that I see every 6 months. I have pernicious anemia, so I have to take massive doses of b12 with the iron. Apparently, my immune system destroys the b12, and the idea is that if I take huge doses, then it won't be able to destroy all of it. Before I was diagnosed, my hair was falling out, I was…
  • Honestly, I don't know how you guys do the .5lb a week thing. A cup of water could be a half a pound. I would go nuts trying to figure out if I actually lost any weight.
  • The macro that concerned me the most was protein. All the literature that I read insists that protein goals have to be met, or your body will start chewing through your lbm as well as fat. But, honestly, if my goal weight is in the 130's, eating 1 gram per pound (or 130 grams a day) means that I have to eat a good portion…
  • I am not a vegetarian, but I have always disliked meat. Sure, the occasional burger is alright, but steaks, chicken, etc.. is eww to me. I will give the shakes a go, and maybe some more Greek yogurt. My doc has me on a prenatal vitamin to cover folic acid, and I take 3 iron pills and a b12 every day for anemia, so I think…
  • Lately, I don't have the patience to be bothered with food, so I have been just eating within my calorie goal, but I eat just to shut my stomach up and then go about my business. I realize that a lot of people talk about the importance of macros, so that's why I ask.
  • Ah, the boob issue. It depends on your breast size before you gained weight. My best friend was always a A cup. She gained 100 lb, and her breast size went to a DD. If she loses weight, they will go back to an A cup, but will probably be saggy. I have always been a D cup, even with the weight gain, I am a D cup. When the…
  • If the medication helps with the hunger pains, then there is nothing wrong with using it as a tool. I would much rather take a short term medication than get a highly invasive surgery that removes 3/4 of my stomach. There is no reason to discourage others from losing weight. To each his own.
  • 800 calories a day? Yikes. I do 1200 calories, and I have been losing consistently for a few months now. My starting weight was 226lb, and I just hit 189 lb this morning. I average 3-4 lbs a week.
  • Ok...I changed my mind. I gave up on overeating pastries and most sweets. I still have them on occasion, but only a serving. I did give up candy though. I don't really care for it, so no big deal. I think I may be the only woman in the world that doesn't really care for chocolate. It's just OK to me. I love me some cake or…
  • It reminds me of how narcissistic mothers treat their children. Their is always a golden child, and a scapegoat. Sounds like your the scapegoat. Brush it off. You are gonna be something great, and your sister.....ehhh.
  • It's the water issue that makes me say hecks no. Your reduced stomach will only hold about 2 tbs of food/liquid at a sitting. How exactly are you going to drink enough water when you exercise? My cousin had it done, and she has to carry a water bottle around all day and take sips. She does not exercise because she cannot…
  • It's ok. Your only human.
