  • Yes! I own the Fitbit blaze (I love the heart rate monitor). Motivatjng myself to hit my daily step goal and earn bages, participating in step challenges with friends, and being able to monitor my nightly sleep patterns are some of the perks of owning a Fitbit. Bed, Bath,& Beyond will send you a coupon for 20% off when you…
  • Sounds like it's time to shake things up a bit. Have you heard about Leangains? If not, check it out!
  • Typing on an iPhone in a hurry, please ignore all the typos.
  • I worked for a cosmetic surgeon for 8 years. Liposuction starts at $3200 including surgery and anesthesia and is typically on recoomended for people who are at or close to goal weight. The doctor I worked for wouldn't even recommend the procedure unless the patients were at their goal weight, and even then it was usually…
  • Beautiful changes happen when you experiment with intermittent fasting. Check out Leangains. I'm now five months in and it's the best lifestyle change I've ever made.
  • I haven't had an alcoholic beverage in five months. I'm thirty pounds down with no regrets whatsoever. Drinking alone does not make you fat. Just plan ahead, make sure it fits in your daily and/or weekly calorie goals. Don't make any drunken Taco Bell runs while under the influence, and don't drink so much that your too…
  • Some people only weigh every week or every other week. I know some who only weigh in once a month to gauge their process. Personally, I like to take my weight every single day, sometimes twice a day, as it help keep me in tune with my weight fluctuations and keep me in check. There is no right or wrong in that area, just…
  • You need a calorie deficit to lose weight. Weigh your food and log everything you eat. MFP over estimates the calories burned. If you choose to eat back your exercise calories, don't eat back more than half. You will lose the 2/3 pounds a week a lot quicker in you don't eat back your exercise calories at all.
  • Nope, usually pajama pants and a t-shirt or yoga pants and a tee. My clothes don't weigh that much. I can see that I'm steadily losing so .5-1 pound still doesn't make a huge difference to me at this point.
  • Aloe Vera juice is a scam and not worth it. Save your calories. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/aloe-vera-juice-is-it-really-a-good-idea-083013.html Buy yourself some chewable papaya enzymes (they are extremely cheap) and see if that helps your acid reflux. Digestive Enzymes along with a peptide supplement cleared my…
  • I forgot to add, make sure your taking a daily good quality fish oil. If you take no other supplements, vitamin D, fish oil and a probiotic are the most important to take!
  • My husband was D deficient last year. Our Doctor put him on prescription D, I believe I can't remember the exact dosage, but prescription strength is high and taken once a week. His vitamin D deficiency prompted me to do a lot of research and I found that a good majority of cancers, heart disease and even diabetes are all…
  • Wow! You just inspired me to get back into my evening walks. Thanks for the motivation, you look awesome :)
  • I am all about healthy substitutions and I bookmarked this thread for further ideas. I did not know what shirataki was, so I consulted with professor Google. When this picture popped up I decided to not read any further. I will stick with my whole wheat noodles. Obviously it's what they are cooking with the noodles that…
  • I was just recently able to button up my size 2 pants (I started MFP in a size 8) they are still a little too uncomfortably tight, but it's amazing that I can get them buttoned (4 months ago I couldn't even get them over my behind). I plan on wearing these pants to my best friend's Christmas party tomorrow night. Not only…
  • Hardest part about losing weight is being around fiends and family who are not on the same page. When I watch my loved ones stuff their faces with cake on a consistent basis because they just don't care.
  • Ummmmm......no. Fasting is fantastic for your physical and mental health. There are studies all over the place.
  • Intermittent fasting, specifically Leangains. It changed my life.
  • Plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream, helps meet my protein macros and I can't taste a difference. When I'm in the mood for cookies, I look up a recipe using blanched almond flour and honey instead of flour and sugar for extra nutrients. Different texture, but my family enjoys it all the same. Light unsweetened almond…
  • Just about all the gyms offer free group fitness classes. If yours doesn't then find a new gym. Insanity, body pump, or P90X is a great place to start. The movements and forms they show you in the classes will help you know what to do when your flying solo
  • Vitamin D, a good multi, probiotics, and fish oil are all necessary for excellent health.
  • Exactly! It took 20 years of gaining and losing to finally realize that quick fixes NEVER work long term. If it's not something you can commit to for life, then it will not help you keep the weight off. Any one can lose weight, keeping it off is the real challenge.
  • The challenge didn't except my entry either. Please update if you figure out why.
  • I'm 5'1. I started MFP 102 days ago weighing 152. I now weigh 128. My goal is 110ish. I plan to reach this goal by March 2016.
  • Costco for meats and organic goods, Sams Club for everything else you buy in bulk.
  • Zumba, Cize, Insanity, P90X, weights, and chasing after the ice-cream man. I'm a wanna-be power lifter with a very long way to go.
  • Take it one day at a time. I joined MFP just 101 days ago. I didn't take before pics because I honestly didn't believe I'd make progress so quickly. In 101 days I am down 24 pounds. Although I'd still like to lose another 20, I feel absolutely amazing. I fell off the wagon here and there along the way. The most important…
  • I'm a caffeine addict in the process of giving up caffeine for good. BCAAs are absolutely wonderful in giving natural bursts of energy. I take 30g day. I take a vitamin B12 complex and it has worked wonders in helping cut my intake in half. As the above poster mentioned, more whole foods and less processed foods make…
  • Define picky please. My diary is open to friends. I fast until 2pm daily. Since I don't pick breakfast or lunch, am I considered picky? I try to keep my diet 85% percent clean, does that make me picky as well?
  • Exactly what this person said. If your doing resistance training and wanting to tone up, a good rule of thumb is 1g protein per each pound to your goal weight. Try 118g of protein daily and set your the rest of your macros around this. Include carb cycling, but keep your protein high every day.
