I've been writing in a journal since June 2017. It's been a great tool for working through my feelings about food and motives for inhaling food just because it's there. Sometimes, I still go ahead and overeat, but at least I recognize why. I've noticed a real change in my relationship with food since I started.

Oddly enough, my mini goal is a typo. I went to the doctor's office, and during my checkup, the PA accidentally wrote down 211 instead of 221. I saw the typo on my online chart, and I thought about calling the office to make the correction. My next appointment is on January 8, so instead of calling, I decided to make…

I was really committed to the Breatharian lifestyle but I have issues with binging and ended up hyperventilating.

My husband defended his dissertation this spring after years of hard work. I was excited to have a picture with him to commemorate this incredible achievement that we both sacrificed for, and when I saw the photographs, I was devastated. It wasn't just that I looked huge next to him, it was my face was no longer my face. I…

I just got back from a week long vacation, and I logged every day just to remain aware of what I'm eating. But I didn't restrict myself, and I just tried to pay attention to when I was actually hungry and when I just wanted that second icecream of the day. :-) I still dropped a pound, and I never felt like I was missing…

We have a sweets table at work that was my Achilles heel. I would blow my calorie limit by 11am regularly and not even really enjoy what I was noshing on. So I started saying to myself every day, "I don't eat like that anymore. It's just not my thing." Three weeks in, and I haven't hovered over stale Oreos and the bowls of…

On a day that I was being particularly critical of myself, someone posted a comment very similar to this meme. As corny as it sounds, it was actually a game changer for me:

@Zombella I definitely remember sneaking and the shame that followed. Your story sounds a lot like mine. good luck on your progress!

I second the crunchy rice rollers. I lover the crunch and sweetness and they're only around 45 calories each.

you look fantastic!

Growing up we only ate low fat, nutritious foods at our meals. Baked skinless chicken, boiled vegetables, plain rice, always a salad with dinner. Only Bran cereal for breakfast. Fruit was available for snacks. No junk food or eating out (at least for us kids). We had to ask permission for anything we put in our mouths. I…

That moment when your bathrobe closes all the way--not just the stretched diagonal closure--properly closed. It happened yesterday morning, and I was so excited!

well done! Congrats to you!
-
well done! Social situations, especially ones that pop up last minute, do me in too. But it looks like you're still losing steadily, so you must be doing something right!

huzzah! congrats on your victory!

Congrats!! That's an exciting milestone!

For cheesy rom-com: Love Actually For straight-up cheesy: Joe Dirt (one Christmas I gave everyone a copy on DVD) And not cheesy, but a movie I'll always watch if it's on: Groundhog's Day

I love this! My go-to approach to smoothing ruffled feathers has always been to seek solace at the bottom of a pint of Ben and Jerry's, but now I'm finding other ways to let it go. Thanks for all your encouraging words!

I'm not even close to my goal weight, but my current success is this is the longest I've ever stuck with losing weight! Here's what I do/tell myself daily: 1. recording everything even when I'd prefer to not have a written record of blowing past my calorie limit 2. Forgiving myself when I blow past my calorie limit 3.…
