  • It isn't a plateau until it's been about 6 weeks. You were just sick, that causes inflammation which causes water weight. Be patient.
  • Why are you asking a bunch of random people on a message board? If you are concerned it is your heart, get to your doctor to check it out, ASAP.
  • We need way more information. No way can anyone say with the extremely vague question. What is your height, age, how much are you wanting to lose, have you set up MFP to tell you what your calories should be? How long have you been trying to eat in a deficit? Are you weighing your solid foods on a food scale, and measuring…

  • Sorry to ask, hope I’m not overstepping here, but why do people store anything in their oven? I’ve never heard this before! Is this common?[/quote] Some of us don't have enough cupboards, (very small kitchen) and need that space to store things. I only store pans, cookie sheets and racks in mine.
  • I think you are eating more than you think, and overestimating the number of calories you are burning at the gym. Weightlifting doesn't burn that many calories. For an hour and a half, you might burn 300 calories. Walking on a treadmill for an hour is maybe about 300 calories. I would cut your estimated calorie burn in…
  • 250 calorie deficit doesn't leave any room for errors. Approximating, measuring in cups/spoons is not accurate enough with such a small calorie deficit. You really need to weigh everything. Once you get the hang of it, it is quick and easy.
  • How are you logging? Weighing your food? Do you know the number of calories you should be eating to lose? If you haven't lost any weight, then you aren't eating in a calorie deficit.
  • Sorry, I didn't have the definitions of lightly active and active in front of me. I though I would err on the side of caution. :/

  • I took your stats and assumed 1 lb of loss per week, and set to lightly active. It gave 2280 calories. Is this around what you were given? If so, start there.

  • Did you set up your stats in MFP when you joined? If you follow the directions, it will give you a good estimate to start.

  • A week is not a "stall". Some weeks you won't lose weight, and might actually gain a few pounds. Be patient. And your body isn't going into a "mini starvation mode" either, unless you aren't eating at all for days or weeks at a time.
  • Poll question/answers don't really make sense. There's no context.
  • Supplements shouldn't be necessary for weight loss. As for exercise, do whatever you want that you will stick with and do consistently.
  • That's impossible to answer qithout a lot more information.
  • If over the counter stuff actually worked, I think doctors would be telling people to take it. My doctor always just says move more, eat less.
  • I would also log it. Those 3 servings of fruit could be 3-400 calories, which then puts you at potentially 1600 calories. Why wouldn't you track it?
  • I've read, and ironically enough, watched a video earlier this morning about this. It is based on what the average person would eat, the caveat is that it was from the '70s. That is why we are seeing things change like a can of pop the serving being 8 oz on a 12 oz can, to reflect the larger portions people are eating now.
  • Have you put your current stats in to MFP with a reasonable deficit like .5 - 1lb per week loss? What is the number of calories it gives you? Try that for about a month and see if it works. If you aren't losing, make sure you are counting your calories correctly and tracking everything, if you are losing what you should…

  • 3 weeks is a short time to see any changes. However, just working out at the gym does not necessarily equal losing weight, unless you are eating in a calorie deficit. Before I really understood how things worked, I joined a gym thinking that would help me lose weight. 6 months later, I gained a lot of strength, but no…

  • You say you eat healthy, but do you actually know how many calories you are eating? You need to eat in a deficit to lose weight. Light weights, walking, and stretching isn't really burning any real significant calories. It is calories that matter. Exercise is good for your overall health, but you have to eat less to lose…
  • I do one meal a day and it helps me control my eating. I am satisfied with the one meal. It works for me, but it may just not work for you. What is your typical meal? I eat a good size portion of protein, fat, and lower carbs. If I ate higher carbs, I would be ravenous and wouldn't want to stop eating. I figured this out…
  • No. This is bad advice. In 2 weeks, there is no way they would build enough muscle to gain muscle weight. What it most likely is is water weight from the new activity. Also, time of day and what you eat has nothing to do with it as long as you are in a calorie deficit. I eat once a day and can lose just fine when in a…
  • Force yourself to go. Even if when you get there you don't feel like working out. Do a few easy things, then if you aren't into it, leave. But you need to get back into the habit of going there, even if you don't get a a great workout.
  • No. The body doesn't work like that. You have to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. Period.
  • I have had water weight stick around for a week. Several years ago I was in a physical therapy program and they weighed us every month. I got weighed right after the 4th of July. I had eaten out, gone to parties, for 3 days over that 4th of July weekend. I was up 7 lbs when I weighed in. A week later, I asked to be weighed…
  • It hasn't worked before because you didn't make lifestyle changes that you could stick to. Like someone said above, just start tracking your calories. It will be eye opening, then decide where you can make a substitution or something you can eat less often. Then just keep making small changes and they will eventually…
