  • Last time I made meatballs I minced 1-2 tablespoons of giardiniera in the food processor and mixed it in. Added a lot of flavor and they stayed moist. I used 1 lb very lean ground beef, one slice of wheat bread crumbled and soaked in a scant 1/4 of milk, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, 1 egg and some Italian seasoning blend…
  • You look like a perfectly normal and quite attractive young lady. The truth is that you know you suffer from social anxiety. It is highly likely that every woman you encounter is NOT talking about you and laughing at you. In fact, I'd bet that most of them are not talking about you or laughing at you or judging you in any…
  • I do this too. I pay my tailor around $12-15 to take in the waist in my skirts and pants to get a few more months wear out of them. This is preferable to me than buying cheap, low quality replacements. I work in a professional environment and it would be too costly to replace my clothes every time I went down a size.
  • I've been taking it for PCOS since 2004. At the beginning, I did have some loose stools and stomach upset. I adapted to it pretty quickly. I take it with food and that helps. I haven't had any real problem with it. As others have said, it is generally best to start with a low dose and increase over the course of a few…
  • I wish you good luck. I had some hip pain that derailed my fitness efforts for a while. It's annoying to be so limited in what you can do while still trying to lose weight. But it sounds like you are making great progress.
  • I think losing 1-2 pounds a week is a great stable rate. If there is a medical need to lose faster, your doctor might approve a lower calorie intake. I'd ask your doctor for a referral to a physical therapist. You can work on exercises that will improve your function for when you do have the surgery. I'd also ask about…
  • For me the key thing that has helped my weight loss the most is getting right back on track. If I eat to much at one meal or snack, I immediately go back to my planned food for the next meal or snack. I do not let myself fall into the "oh, well, this day's shot" mentality. I also don't overly restrict to try to make up for…

  • I have been in your shoes. I resisted therapy and medication for my anxiety and depression. I hit a wall at the end of 2016 and just couldn't do it alone anymore. I found a fantastic physician who gave me a low dose of medication. She also set me up with some sessions with a mental health nurse. For the first time in my…
  • Spanx has a lower end brand called Assets that is sold at Target. I wear the tanks and shorts under dresses and skirts. I have a long torso so the one piece shapers do not work for me.
  • I actually think it can be a good help for someone who isn't an experienced cook and doesn't have a lot of food knowledge. Like someone else mentioned, you can follow it for a little bit to see how it fits your needs. And it'll give you a template to work with in the future with whatever changes that work for you. My…
  • I've not had any sort of surgery. But MFP does work if you are diligent about measuring your portions and logging your intake. Good luck!
  • I think several people have mentioned more accurate measuring/weighing of your food. I also suggest more cardio and possibly you need to consider medication. I take metformin for insulin resistance associated with PCOS. It helps. You may want to discuss with your doctor if medication will be helpful for you. I lose slowly…
  • I like a piece of toast with 1Tbsp of peanut butter.
  • I would plan to stick to my normal diet for breakfast, lunch and snacks. I'd allow myself to indulge a bit at dinner or one special meal of the day.
  • Glad you're here. Good luck!
  • I would. Creamers and condiments (especially things like mayonnaise and salad dressing) can be high in calories. I don't track things like salt, pepper, spices and seasonings. That said, if you are still losing even while not tracking those things there is no rule that says you have to start.
  • I like to snack on nuts. But I portion them out into 1 oz servings and don't usually have them more than once a day. Don't just eat out of the container-too easy to eat more than you intend. I usually pair them with a piece of fruit or a piece of cheese.
  • I snack on almonds, prunes, grapes, apples, peanut butter on apples, toast or crackers, popcorn, raw veggies, cheese sticks, yogurt.
  • I really like Fair Life milk, I get the 2%. It uses a special filtering process so that it has a little higher protein content. It sounds like that's something you're looking for. Plus, it just tastes really good.
  • That's solid life advice for anyone.
  • When I go in for a check-up or yearly physical they do some labs, do an examination, we talk a bit about life style and any particular concerns I have regarding my health. I'm sure if you did some internet research you can get an idea what a yearly physical should include. You can also address it with your gynecologist.…
  • This one is not so much a recipe but a list of ingredients: Brown chicken breast in skillet (I season mine with salt, pepper, oregano and garlic powder); remove chicken and saute sliced bell pepper and onions. When the pepper and onions are soft but not quite done add some olives (I use pitted Kalamata but you can use…
  • Do you have any unusual sources of stress? Honestly, adapting to a new lifestyle is stressful in itself. I'd make an appointment for a thorough check-up-because why not? But I would expect a return to normal in a few weeks.
  • Way to go! I hope you and your friend continue on and reach your goals.
  • I was reading about this study after seeing it here. Do you all have to live within a certain distance to the study locations? I wish you all good health and success!
  • Home scales that measure body fat are not accurate. But I have a Fitbit Aria scale and I like that it syncs with my Fitbit app and MFP site. I also think the body fat measure is useful for tracking trends over time. Even if the % it spits out isn't completely accurate, I can still get a sense if my BF% is going down over…
  • I think a simple thing for anyone to do is start by adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet. If you build all of your meals around the vegetables you'll feel more full and naturally eat less of the more calorie dense foods.
  • This is my clown Vinny. Lots of walks together.
  • Alta does not have the HR function. So, if that's something you want, you'll have to look at some of the others. Charge, blaze and I think the new Flex2 will all have the heart rate function.
  • I had the One and then switched to the Alta. I think Alta overestimates my steps slightly. Hand and arm movement do count as steps sometimes. But I don't rely too heavily on the calorie counts. I have looked at a lot of articles summarizing different studies and it seems basically all studies of fitness trackers have…
