  • That’s one to consider since it’s close (I’m in Columbus) but I did not have a good experience when I ran it in 2014. It was mostly because it was the most tired I have ever been for a race (so my fault) but the course wasn’t spectacularly exciting either. I remember thinking the course would be great for a half though,…
  • Hey, all! Just dropping in to say hi since it’s been a hot minute (or two) 👋🏻. I see you’re all still out there crushing it! I completed full number 13 at the Indy Monumental this past November at one of my slowest but also one of my most meaningful finishes ever. That season I had battled many issues related to my…
  • Happy Saturday! It's been a hot minute since I've dropped in here. I just can't keep up with the thread, but I'd like to start checking in here more. I came back to this thread last weekend, but with the passing of @MobyCarp I was just too sad and needed some time to process. I'm currently training for marathon number 13 -…
  • Hello MRCers! I know it's been awhile, but I wanted to pop in and ask a random question...does anybody have experience with popping/snapping hip syndrome? I'm not sure if that's what I have, but I've noticed for the last few years that sometimes my right hip will click or pop. It will always do this when I am lying flat on…
  • It's so awesome seeing everyone's runs for Dennis, whether planned or not. My lower right leg has been bothering me, as it seems to do at the end of every training season, and it was particularly bothersome after my run yesterday, so I played it safe and just spent my time slot walking instead of running. I don't typically…
  • Exactly. It’s the meaning of the run that counts. Also, I know life will probably get in the way somewhere and this may not be perfect, but that’s okay. Have a great run @Orphia and everyone else! Have fun!
  • I just posted a few things over in the relay thread for Dennis. I was looking at the spreadsheet and expected to see some gaps, but only found 2 that were easily fixed. Like Elise said though, I know life happens and even though we have the slots covered, there may be holes and totally understandable. I think it's awesome…
  • Thought I'd post a final lineup of our 24 hour relay as it looks in the spreadsheet just in case something isn't correct and we have a last minute gap we need to fill. For those that listed their complete username, I tagged you in your first slot as a reminder. Also, some half hour slots weren't listed, but if you had…
  • This is a bit last minute as we are starting in less than 3 hours (I think I have that right), but I noticed two half hour gaps. The first gap is hour 6-6.5 (200-230 GMT, which translates to 2200-2230 or 10:00-10:30PM EST). Any takers? I see that @bubblegum2fitness put themselves as "runner 4", so maybe he/she would be…
  • I can’t view the spreadsheet on my phone but I originally put myself down to run from 8:30-9:30 (11:30-12:30 EST for me), and I’ll still plan on doing a run/walk during that time. It would be cool if we could get everyone to take a pic to represent their run and post it here.
  • My goal for this month is to check back into this thread occasionally. I definitely can’t keep up with you guys every day but I miss this thread and hope to pop in every now and then. I’m hesitant to put a number on mileage as my main goal to stay healthy but I’m running a half marathon at the end of October, so I’d like…
  • Thanks for putting this together Elise. Dennis' next marathon was supposed to be the Lake Tahoe on October 14, so I like how the timing of this worked out. The Lake Tahoe marathon starts at 8:30 PST, so I put myself down to run from 8:30-9:30 (11:30-12:30 EST for me). I'm Hilary for those who don't know :)
  • I love this idea. I had a thought that we could do some type of 24-hour virtual relay across the globe, so that for 24 hours someone is always running. We could sign up for 30 or 60 minute time slots and take and post an after pic. One of our local running stores does something like this to celebrate global running day and…
  • I was looking for Maryland as that may be a State I might possibly run again in the future. I don’t see it on the list but I saw on his athlinks that he has run Baltimore (same race I have run). I think there may be one or two others missing but I haven’t double checked the list. Also, should we add Washington, D.C.? I was…
  • Hi, all. I know I've been MIA in this thread for a long time, but after hearing about Dennis @KeepRunningFatboy the other day, I thought I'd pop in and give you all a virtual hug. I'm recovering from being sick this week, but was able to get in 6 slow miles dedicated to Dennis this morning and I love that so many of you…
  • @ddmom0811 So glad your daughter is okay. I didn’t hear about it until I saw the NYC Marathon post something on their page. I’ve had a few people ask me if I’m still going and I’m like “*kitten* yeah!” I’m not letting it derail my plans, plus I know now the security will be even more beefed up than it was before.
  • I’m not setting a mileage goal for November because my #1 goal for the month will be to recover/heal and go into December healthy. The NYC Marathon on Sunday will be my second marathon in 4 weeks and I know my body will need to rest. I can feel the affects of that already (which makes me nervous for Sunday) and I haven’t…
  • @ddmom0811 My bib # is 57327 (blue wave 4 starting at 11am). It would be awesome to meet if time/schedule permits. Unfortunately it will be a quick trip as we will get in midday Saturday and leave Monday morning. Shoot me a text and hopefully it will work out! Also, good luck at the 5k! @skippygirlsmom @garygse Thank you!…
  • I haven't yet added up my mileage for October, but I'm guessing it's pretty low as my marathon was right in the middle, so it includes taper and recovery. Yep, just added it up and I'm at 101.7 with just another short run or two before the month is over. Saturday was my last long run before the NYC Marathon and what better…
  • @ereck44 Glad you were able to go down to Churchill Downs and the KD Museum! I think we've talked about how I'm a horseracing fan as well. For my birthday in September (my 30th!), my mom and I went down to Louisville and Lexington to do a bunch of horse stuff. We went on an early backside tour of Churchill Downs where we…
  • I'm way behind again - 800 new posts - so I only went back a few pages. Looks October has been a great running month for all of you! @MNLittleFinn Not everyone is superhuman like @JessicaMcB ...you definitely deserved that week off and I'm sure your body appreciated the recovery time as well ;) @skippygirlsmom Great job on…
  • Thank you for all the love @skippygirlsmom @bride001 @tomaattikastike @Orphia @cburke8909 @ariceroni @MobyCarp @tomaattikastike I get what you're saying about the painkillers. I try not to depend on them or take them if I don't have to, but I put some in with my salt tabs just in case. I held off for 3 miles from the time…
  • @skippygirlsmom Wow, that's crazy! Major kudos to you for doing everything you did to get those girls to the start line! @JessicaMcB Snow! I know you're up north, but is that early for this time of year? Also, GREAT job on the ultra! @eponine1984 Congrats! @ACJones82 Way to go on meeting all those goals! @garygse Sorry to…
  • Thank you @kgirlhart @garygse @Runningmischka for well wishes! Unfortunately, today was not my day. This morning, I woke up to higher than normal temps as projected but noticed it felt more muggy out than I thought was forecasted. The fact that I didn't need a coat before a race in the middle of October in central Ohio is…
  • @midwesterner85 I have this hydration vest/pack and have been quite happy with it. I specifically ordered it for the pouches on the front that would fit water bottles and the fact that it has several other pockets on the front and one bigger one on the back in addition to the large pocket for the water bladder. You can…
  • Congrats @cburke8909 ! Awesome job getting out there all you virtual racers! I had a shakeout run this morning with my local FF group and I was thinking about @HonuNui and her son. Also, congratulations to everyone who has raced recently! I've somewhat kept up with those of you who have posted in the FB group as that is…
  • Rest day for me today and possibly for a few more days (may try a small run tomorrow or Saturday). After I posted on here last night, I stood up and all of a sudden started suffering from the worst chest pain and spasms....very likely related to overdoing it yesterday with the 20 mile run. It got really bad but thankfully…
  • So much for trying to keep up with the September thread! I'm already so far behind. I'll update my miles and try to read/skim through the thread sometime soon. Today was my 30th birthday. I had the day off work and am going out of town this weekend, so I decided to get my 20 miles in today. I had the perfect excuse to bail…
  • Hi all! I've been absent from the thread for a lot of the summer, but I'm still very much running...just not a lot of time to check in/comment here. I'm going to try to check in occasionally here in September though because I miss chatting with you all. I added up my mileage for August and I hit 160 on the nose tonight.…
