I’m Ozempic-curious. I’ve read that ozempic stops the “food noise” in people’s brains. I would love to just not constantly think about food the same way I don’t constantly think about other substances that can be problematic for people. Can anyone confirm or deny for themselves? I want to be someone who can know that my…

You might get more responses on one of the more general forums like “Introduce Yourself” or “Health and Weightloss.” This particular section is more focused on exercise specifically. Unless you’re interested in talking about what other cardiac patients are doing for exercise? My uncle went through his hospital’s cardiac…

What do you like to read? How about audiobooks while out for walks? I love to stroll the nearby hiking trails while listening to books that I borrow for free from my library on Libby or (not free) buy on libro. If you want to make a game of it you can save a particularly engaging book or series so it’s only for while…

Just as a data point, I’m still able to report foods as incorrect on the iOS app. The link is at the bottom of the screen when I’m adding the food. When I report it I get the option to select why, and if I tick “nutritional info wrong or missing” it takes me to an editable database entry. I’m using the MFP app on iOS,…

Magnesium glycinate seems to help me sleep somewhat better, but for anyone thinking of giving it a go be aware—it gave me incredibly vivid dreams and nightmares for the first few nights. Poking around online I found that’s a fairly common thing.

Thanks! They texted me just before I needed to leave to pick up my younger kid, so while I was leery about it on the basis of its existence as a Netflix “health” documentary, I hadn’t looked up analyses of it yet.

This, or Corelle, which also runs the gamut from inexpensive and available at the hardware store to fancy and available at nicer department stores. I intensely dislike seeing my sink full of dirty dishes, so we have a load-as-you-go system here. We run the dishwasher every night right after dinner, and each person is…

For me, I move much more when I’m wearing my watch, and slowly start to move less when I can’t wear it for an extended time. So I think we can all tell that I need extrinsic motivation, lol. I’ve had a Garmin Vivosmart and now have an Apple Watch. I loved my Garmin and loved that it could hold a charge for days, so I could…

Unfortunately the Fat Acceptance crowd has already decided that obesity is not a risk factor at all, and that any correlation must be just fat shaming. Someone who I otherwise respect got into a heated argument about it.

That’s a cool calculator, but given that doctors are still arguing about whether moderate asthma is a higher risk factor or not, I can’t tell whether I fall into “people with risk factors” in the middle or “others” at the very end of the line. I know that the changing advice is because we keep learning more and it’s not…

Just bumpity bumping this thread so I can find it easily. My go-to volume for the summer was Coke Zero and frozen grapes, and I’m looking for volume ideas for colder days.

The company that owns Safeway and Jewel/Osco (I think it’s the Vons company?) lets you schedule your shot online. It’s free with insurance and they give you a coupon for 20% off groceries afterwards. We all got ours early this year. Thank goodness for the Shot Blocker. My youngest kid still flips out about shots, but is…

Walking and biking are great. If you’re looking for more indoor videos, in addition to Fitness Blender there’s also PopSugar Fitness and Denise Austin on YouTube. Popsugar Fitness skews a lot younger, and a lot of their videos do have high intensity and impact, but they’re really good about having one participant show all…

I think you’re right. I’m trying to avoid being the “I’m here to help you, but I need you to do half the work” person, but I may be over correcting. :) I’ll also be at their house taking care of their kid while they’re in the hospital, which gives me time to stock their fridge with things I know they like, and their kid is…

I lost 49 pounds, and over the last 2 years I’ve gained back 8. I think I psyched myself out being simultaneously close to a 50 pound loss and only 10% over a healthy weight range. I also let some uncomfortable situations and people take up too much space in my head.

I think your HR is why it gave you such a high estimates burn. You should see what my watch gives me when I go to the amusement park with my kids! As you become more fit, your heart rate will come down during your walks.

I picked one random citation from this essay, one that supposedly gave what even the authors called “circumstantial evidence” of a causal link between the microbiome and anxiety. I was shocked, shocked I tell you to discover that it was a probiotic study funded by Rossell Lallemand...a probiotics manufacturer.

So Delicious brand makes a number of dairy-free products. Their main line was soy-based (their name used to be Soy Delicious), but they’ve branched our to rice and coconut products. They have an unsweetened, full fat coconut yogurt that would be good in a pea-protein shake. Some Target stores even sell it. When my oldest…

I think that brand may go by a different name here, but hose cookies are strictly school party fare. I love cookies, but those are too “kid-friendly” for my tastes. The ones at my grocery store are usually peanut and treenut free though, which is why they make an excellent class party treat.

When I really want toast nothing else fills that craving but I’ve realized that grocery store breads vary immensely in their calories and nutrition, and an airy lower calorie bread meets my craving just as well as the super dense bread. Though I prefer the taste of a good dense bread like Beckman’s California Black Bread,…

Fun times. I’m starting to move from the phase of shorter than usual cycles to much longer than usual. I thought I’d like this better, but have learned to be careful what I wish for. I’m getting the pre-ovulatory cravings and water retention at the usual time, and then it takes me 2 weeks of up and down symptoms to…

I do need to buy more veggies to cut up and eat raw. They satisfy my “must eat all the things” craving, though the dip doesn’t satisfy my salt craving. Ooh, unless I can make a version of the classic 80’s sour cream and powdered onion dip.

I like plain ol’ peanut butter in my oatmeal, but every once in a while I get a craving for walnut butter. It’s got a bit more texture than even the natural peanut butters, and it’s a bit sweeter too.

Chromium gives me intense nightmares. It took about a week for me to figure out what was causing them. Lots of people take chromium with no problems though.

That sounds terrifying. And here I freak out when a turkey sneaks up behind me and gobbles.

That really does sound like an awesome service. I never heard of it-I wonder how much marketing they did for it? If your healthcare providers are with Sutter Health or one of the other enormous medical groups, you can use MyHealthOnline for records and test results, though it doesn’t sync with any fitness trackers. The app…

Another vote for vasectomy here. I mean, in retrospect I should have said “yes” when my doc asked whether I’d like a tubal ligation during my c-section, but I hadn’t planned on a repeat cs and did a bit of magical thinking “if I don’t about it, it won’t happen.” (Rolling my eyes at myself here.) My husband was only sore…

I took my kid to The Counter and tried it today. It was...fine. Not the best burger I’ve ever had, but better than some beef burgers I’ve had. If/when I commit to giving up beef entirely it would solve a burger craving.

I have a few older relatives who believe that both yoga and meditation let in the devil and demons because you’re susceptible to evil whenever your mind is calm. I, uh, think that says something about their choices of stress-avoiding mechanisms.

You’re right about that your math. I’m 5’3” and was morbidly obese when I started at 202 pounds. But the poster’s main point was that a 33% weight loss in 6 months is not a healthy rate of loss.
