I know it's a small thing, but when I put on my Fitbit, it went one notch tighter than it had been.

Keep at it day by day! Now that summer is here there are so many wonderful low-calorie fruits and vegetables. Great job!

Absolutely. Because if the weight goes up by more than a few pounds, you just cut back again.

Each pound lost is a deficit of 3500 calories. Whether you get that deficit from eating less or exercising more doesn't matter. If you exercise and burn off calories it is the same as not eating them. You have to check your basal metabolic rate to find out what it takes to keep your body running. A loss of 2 lbs a week is…

I have the problem of waking up at 2 am and eating sugar free pudding and bananas.

You can use the exercise to erase indulgences. Yesterday I ate 1/2 a donut 155 calories. I walked 31 minutes 158 calories. I'm not sure it was worth the effort!

Goodness! Don't let a simple food control you. Throw it out! I and all my children are very sensitive to textures in food. This is a very common thing. You don't have to eat it. Besides, it is very high in sodium. Try Greek Yogurt, if you are looking for a dairy protein. The plain and vanillas are great with cinnamon.

Well, goodness! Welcome to a community which can support you regardless of your goals. I, too, have lost and regained weight. I am currently trying to maintain for the first time in my life. I went to graduate school, so I wish you the best of luck in yours. Keep logging your eating!

I agree about the measurements thing. I found it helpful to have a pair of pants in my goal size to try on once a month. After I reached my goal and tried them on, they turned out to be loose. Sometimes the changes come when you aren't expecting them.

I am in the group of people who don't think that a person's bedroom activities factor into what kind of person they are. I wish you the best of results. I have found MFP to be very supportive of efforts to lose weight. Remember that calories in and calories out is the thing to keep in mind. Just like I don't have to say…

I gave up mayo when I started the diet. Use only mustard on sandwiches now. The Walden's products are a great substitute.

Wow! Great and inspiring.

OK, I am 5'4.5", 67, mostly sedentary, and a very slow metabolism. I couldn't lose weight until I went to 900 calories a day. That worked fine. I got to goal weight, and have been maintaining within a pound for a month on 1200. I do read for hours in the middle of the night. I will try peanut butter before bed. Thanks for…

Welcome! A little at a time. Really a scale makes a lot of difference. And measuring cups. If you are determined to lose weight, you will do it!

I used it for years and didn't see that it affected my weight in any way. It did help with the depression.

I hit my goal two weeks ago and have been working with trying to understand that not losing weight is OK. I am trying to maintain and am doing OK, but I have been at a deficit so long that having a glass of wine feels guilty even if I am below my maintenance calories. I guess that yo yo dieting for 40 years is taking its…

I have been keeping a 5-600 calorie deficit for 4 months. Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I am allowing myself 2 glasses of wine about 180 calories) as my extra in celebration today. I will be posting my new thinner picture soon. The one I have is before my weight loss.

I use GNC whey protein in my coffee every morning and for a mid afternoon snack. I use about 90 calories at a time. I find it filling and it keeps me from eating junk.
-
Why are you drinking so much? If you have this excessive thirst, you probably have a Dr. issue. 8-10 glasses of fluid a day is plenty.
-
I guess the biggest thing for me was just persistence and not worrying about losing. The calorie deficit works. It takes time, more time than we want, but it works. I am going to increase calories slowly.

Hi Geneva, I'm a 67 year old grandma. My doctor told me last November that I was pre diabetic and she put me on Metformin. I started dieting in December and joined MFP in January. I have lost 28 lbs as of this morning. I find this site very useful because it keeps me accountable for every bite I put in my mouth. I go back…

Chinese food can be low in calories (vegetables, shrimp) but very high in sodium. Your weight gain will be water, mostly, which can go away in a few days. Losing weight is a lifestyle. Don't fret about a single meal.

I have a Charge 2 and it is great. It holds the battery life a long time.

I, too, have been yo yo dieting since I was about 35. I am now 67 and hoping that this last several months of logging calories (25 lbs lost) will change my eating habits for the rest of my life. Good luck, Angela, remember that what goes into your body is under your control.

Hi, welcome to MFP. I've found the people very supportive and the food database wonderful. It was hard for me in the beginning because I wanted to lose faster, but I have come to realize that this is a lifestyle change and must be done properly or I will gain all the weight back, like I have done EVERY OTHER TIME. This…

Yes, you might be low on thyroid. But you need to be sure that your measurements are accurate. Good luck!
-
I am going slower I guess. I went so far from 38DD to 36D. Makes a big difference in how the ladies stand up!
-
Three pounds is wonderful! Don't beat yourself up. Body changes take time.
-
I guess you have to work at what the maintenance is. I had been losing steadily at 850 cal a day, but now that I am about 1100 I have been the same weight for two weeks. Your metabolism may have changed. I think mine accommodated to the lower intake. Don't give up. The important thing is not to regain the weight.

There are lots of supportive people here. I am 67 and have been dieting since I was 16. I have lost and regained the weight numerous times, but with the help of the support here I am hoping to learn to stabilize once I reach my goal. I am retired, so don't get a lot of social interaction either. Just stop buying the bad…
