Hi Geneva, I'm a 67 year old grandma. My doctor told me last November that I was pre diabetic and she put me on Metformin. I started dieting in December and joined MFP in January. I have lost 28 lbs as of this morning. I find this site very useful because it keeps me accountable for every bite I put in my mouth. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to find out if my sugar has gone down. I wish you the best of luck!

Hey Geneva I will be 64 this year, I am diabetic, high blood presser, and about 2yrs ago Dr. told me I was showing signs of kidney failure. I was very active up to age 42 and just quit going to gym. I retired from G.M. in 2002 I weighed 225lbs. 10 yrs. later 335, 340, it was time to go back to gym, I'm at 270lb now sugar is down, blood presser down, kidney's normal, and feeling more energy. What ever you do, stick to your guns and stay as healthy as you can. No one can do it for you, if you want to add me you can.

Hi everyone! I turned 67 in April of this year and have been here for almost 4 years. I started logging here at the suggestion of my doctor and to date I haven't missed a day of checking in and have been taken off of all meds and am at a healthy weight.

I've lost about 60 lbs and I'm working on the last 6 vanity pounds.

Wishing you all success. Don't use age as an excuse, we can do it still!

Hi all I'm 69 soon to be 70. We can still do this but it gets harder in the later years. Stick with it, log everything, get a food scale and be honest in your logging. Good luck to all.

I hit my goal two weeks ago and have been working with trying to understand that not losing weight is OK. I am trying to maintain and am doing OK, but I have been at a deficit so long that having a glass of wine feels guilty even if I am below my maintenance calories. I guess that yo yo dieting for 40 years is taking its toll on me. I'm afraid I will go back up.

I spent last year maintaining even though I hadn't reached my ultimate goal yet. I had a rough year between injuries and a very sick husband.........so stressful, and my doc suggested that I not worry too much about losing the last few pounds but trying to maintain instead.

I learned that weighing myself every day, or other day, was my friend in maintenance. I'm not particularly wedded to the scale and don't freak out over normal fluctuations from a few extra carbs, sodium or whatever so it worked for me.

If it looked like the scale was beginning to creep up for more than just a day or two I would just go back to a deficit for a few days and my weight would come back down again.

Congratulations on your success and try to enjoy maintenance a little!
