  • Love it . . but I broke my ankle on a tree root last November . . . so I have been officially banned from trail running ever since. LOL

  • @kittynat . . . congrats on the c25k! Slowly add miles and you'll get faster. Intervals are very important, start out with 2x200 (200 meter sprint) once a week. You'll be surprised how quickly your mile time will drop.
  • Overall it's good and I enjoy using it. (Series 4, LTE) Assuming you have an IPhone otherwise your wasting your money. The activity rings is a nice feature, especially once you start competing with some friends, extra motivation! I use the strava app (on the watch) which is really nice but you can also use the workout app…
  • @yirara … thanks for the post. Congrats on your progress. I’ve been running for a while, did a few HM’s last year. However I broke my fibula on a trail run in November. Dang tree root … lol. Anyway been lazy in recovery ever since. Needed a kick in the pants to get going again. Just started a 10k plan. Thanks for the…
  • @sammidelvecchio . . thanks for the replay. Sorry you were made to feel extremely uncomfortable. Appreciate the suggestion.
  • @RelCanonical . . . Good question. To be honest, if another guy was using the room, I'd say "hey do you mind if I jump on the spin bike?" so I guess I should do the same.
  • Love this thread . . can I please add a rant or two? (1) texting or surfing your social media feed in the squat rack. C'mon man! We have two squat racks in the gym and there always in use. I respect / admire that your putting up serious weight and you need to resting between sets. I get that. But how much time, 15 minutes?…
  • @blackforesttea . . there is a lot of good choices out there. I didn't like the taste of Vega, too fake sweetener tasting for me but that is a personal preference. I like Orgain Organic Protein from Amazon in vanilla bean flavor. My go to recipe is banana, 2c spinich, 1/2c frozen strawberries, 1/4c frozen rasberries and…
  • @7lenny7 . . . talk about some serious weather and snow running. Wow . . and the ice beard is a nice badge of honor. Way to get out there. I love putting the first set of shoe print in the snow on the trail but we don't get that much snow in Indiana. I will definetely check out the screwshoe. Thanks
  • @Navallez . . . I feel your pain. I'm sure every injury is different. I broke my fibula at the ankle on a trial run at the end of November. I go back for X-rays in two weeks, hopefully the boot comes off!! I've been doing workouts on the elipitcal at the gym with no issues. Best of luck and speedy recovery!
  • @mitch16 @Tacklewasher . . . have you ever tried yaktraks, rubber and metal cleats that slide over your running shoes for snow and ice? Just curious if anyone has used them in the winter months. I bought a pair at Costco a few weeks back but we haven't had any snow to try them out yet. Thanks . . Rod
  • @4bugsmama . . . sounds like your doing awesome! Running outside is WAY better, even in the elements. Temps in the 40's, watching the sun rise is running nirvana. I will say that a treadmill can be great for speed work and sprint intervals, 200's 400's and 800's . . . just set the pace and go. You'll either run at the pace…
  • @rainbow198 . . I thought PR was an acronym for personal record . . actually means "pancake record" the post-race breakfast feast. LOL
  • @sarahtheses . . your doing awesome! Don't worry about the time . . one mile is one mile. LOL
  • @LiveInLeggings . . lol . . I thought it was a type of bread made from sweet potatoes. Hey . . new invention maybe, the fade diet of 2019 !!
  • @LiveInLeggings . . never had sweet potato toast . . that sounds "really" good. I'll have to check that out.
  • Guess I'm weird . . I always run on an empty stomach. I usually run in the early mornings anyway. I’ve never went over the HM distance . . maybe with longer distances hunger would be an issue. Good luck on your race!
  • @MeteoraTitanium . . . Strava is a great app. I use the apple watch and strava app and it syncs to MFP. Posting the workout with mile pace and calories burned . . . doubt its very accurate. If I run a 9:59 minute mile pace . . it will post to MFP as 9:00 minute mile. LOL . . makes me look faster anyway.
  • Good thread . . I'll jump in 1.What motivates you to run? Been running for about eight years, started with a C25k plan to lose some weight. Running is strangely addictive. I really notice a difference in relieving stress and improving my mood. Love running early mornings before work, seeing the sun rise and just being…
  • It's "primetime" . . oh wait a minute . . I'm reliving the cowboy glory days again. LOL Great shirt!
  • LOL exactly! What is up with that? Guess I'm not alone.
  • I just recently purchased . . Nuzest, Clean Lean Protein (pea protein powder) on Amazon. Made two shakes so far using 1 cup of almond milk and 2-3 cups of water and various frozen fruit. Happy with the flavor, has a slight artificial sweetener taste. Contains thaumatin which is a natural sweetener similar to stevia. Hope…
  • 46 according to apple watch . . probably not the most accurate RHR reading. Been running consistently for a few years now. Recently set off the low heart rate alarm on a ER visit . . which was a cool feeling . . not recommending trips to the ER to check your heart rate. LOL
