  • My husband is an engineer at one of the known tech companies in the Bay Area. I couldn't get around it :D .
  • And sometimes I feel like that's the default. "Mommy weight" "Mommy brain"...it's almost charming. But for me.. no, I'm 38, my body in general doesn't function like it used to. That's the only reason!
  • A really good easy read was The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker Told from the perspective of a 12 year old girl when a phenomenon occurs with the earth's orbit. It becomes erratic and sometimes is quick sometimes very slow. But the impact on everything is significant from ecosystem to the girl's social system, to…
  • I LOVE her recipes. Smitten Kitchen is another I like a lot.

  • I love that! I have no patience for shopping so thrift stores are a challenge for me since I like to go in, get what I need and leave. I love Stitch Fix for this reason. The send me a box of stuff, I try it, yay/nay and send it back if I hate it lol. But I am super cheap. LOVE Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Gap (online clearance…
  • I love hiking too. We have no shortage of good day hikes in NorCal.
  • Stay! 40 is close enough. :-)
  • Stay stay!!! Thanks for sharing and welcome! I'm an aunt. But mostly what I have found is that none of the factors in mom weight gain or loss apply to me. And I get tired of hearing "wait until you have a kid". :-)
  • Welcome!! Yay for new dating! And good for you for pushing forward despite the injuries and depression. I feel ya. I was a wreck after my back injury and surgery. But mostly anxious. I haven't run since, but it's 100% fear. I'm working on that too. :-) Thanks for joining!
  • Moderate alcohol (in most cases) is fine. I would be concerned though if the reason for giving it up is due to regular hangovers. The concern would be the excess alcohol, not the alcohol itself. I'm not saying you shouldn't give up alcohol. But if the reason is hangover, it might be that you're drinking more than you…
  • Which is not something the average person would be taking, given it is a prescribed drug.
  • No. But there are foods that I can't eat at night because they interfere with my sleep (ie, caffeinated, spicy. heavy, etc).
  • There's no biological need to do a forced cleanse. If you want to feel healthier then just drink more water, reduce or eliminate highly processed foods, but there's no need to spend money on a commercial cleanse.

  • I work in a hospital with immunocompromised patients so I get one every year. I also have asthma and the flu is a *kitten* when I get it. However, the vax doesn't always cover all strains every year. So I have gotten sick in years past. But I would be much sicker if I didn't get it. I've never had any significant problems…
  • I don't want to kill the mood, but it isn't all the sitting that killed the metabolism (though it certainly doesn't help), it slows as we........get..........o--l--- nope can't finish it. After I turned 30 mine all but stopped. My husband can eat ice cream and I'll gain 2 lbs. Stupid hormones!!
  • I did it when it was called Prevent (I had to go look at the scale lol). I liked it until I finished and went to maintenance, then the group was left to it's own devices. The group I was in was super active, but when we transitioned to the larger maintenance group it wasn't that supportive or active. But it did get me…
  • Welcome! I feel ya on the job thing. I just made a job change in December for the same reasons. Where in Washington are you? We almost ended up in Seattle, but stayed in SF. How do you like it? My all time favorite musician (and human), is from Maple Valley, WA.
  • You have my dream job. I want ALL THE ANIMALS!!!! Welcome. I hear you. Sometimes it's just easier to not think about it. That's where my unhealthy relationship with food comes in. I know what I need to do. I just need to do it. GAH! Imagine a world where broccoli was bad for you ;-).
  • Mirena. Low-hormone, but the difference between it and the pill is that the hormones are targeted and not pumping through your whole body. Also good for 5 years and with return to natural fertility immediately upon removal.
  • Carrots need hugs too.
  • I've used Nike+, Jawbone, Apple Watch... I have to say, Apple Watch is my favorite. I'm pretty new to MFP, but so far it checks all of the boxes. I'm optimistic. #shesaysondayone :D
  • Right after I got married a colleague, who I know well, but not well enough, in a full elevator asked me how married life was. "Fine...." She then says, "Before you know it you'll be on maternity leave!" To which I replied, "Um, no actually I won't." " Oh yes, you will. Don't worry. Everyone says that." It went on from…
  • Just as an FYI, I plan to make the group private once it gains a bit of traction. I just want possible members to be able to see some of what it's like while we're gaining ground.
  • Welcome!!

  • I actually really spaghetti squash. Also, I love pasta. But I really try not to have it often. My husband and I made lasagna without the noodles when we were doing keto. Basically just the good stuff :-).
  • I'm kind of obsessed with Younger on TVLand. It's light. Basically 40 year old woman with 18 year old daughter gets divorced and tries to go back to work when her dtr goes to college. She isn't getting hired because of her age so she lie and says she's 26. It is fun, sexy, smart.... check it out!
  • I've started a new group, may or may not be a good fit, but feel free to check it out! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/122404-30-something-women-without-kids

  • Hi everyone! I'm 38, no kids, no plans to have kids. Love kids, don't want to have my own. I'm married to the best guy ever (married 2 years, together 8 years). I actually REALLY like to be active. I underestimated how hard weight loss is and how easy weight gain is in your 30s. I also assumed it would be easy to find a…
