Exactly. We're always consciously or unconsciously tracking anyhow. Unlike the commentators who are unable to wrap their head around calorie deficit/how the math works out.

When you are at a family event, and decide to either eat at maintenance/don't log for the day and everyone is so obsessed over what you are eating. "I thought you were on a diet???" or the looks when you go for seconds. In the back of my mind I'm thinking just shutup and relax, it's one day aka no difference in the long…

Figuring out the emotional cause as to why we eat or behave the way we do will go a long way into solving how we can change our current behaviour towards a healthier lifestyle. People don't get overweight through random events - there is a cause that drives their weight to increase beyond a normal range. My causes were how…

Hey Less - I live a completely sedentary lifestyle (in a wheelchair) and lost 95 pounds with CICO/calorie deficit (see full story here https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10674309/mfp-weight-goal-achieved-95-pounds-gone-wheelchair-user/p1). With a calorie deficit, you do not have to exercise at all.
-
I don't track macros. I just make sure I eat a good amount of protein, and vegetables all within calorie limits.
-
Thank you Bosque! My post is meant to inspire everyone that this approach DOES work. If it worked for someone who lives a sedentary lifestyle, than surely anyone can do it. My weight loss certainly affected the size of my chair that I required. I live in Canada and so every 5 years, the government will fund a good portion…

95 pounds lost over 1 year and 5 months - all thanks to CICO, MFP, and sheer determination.

I am in a wheelchair, completely immobile and lost 95 pounds, on a 1200 calorie diet. See my thread here for pictures and how I did it -> https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10674309/mfp-weight-goal-achieved-95-pounds-gone-wheelchair-user/p1 If I can do it, ANYONE can do it. As a earlier poster stated, it is…

Hello all, I wanted to make an update post, as it has been abit over a year since I initially created this thread, and so I'd like to firstly demonstrate that I have successfully maintained my weight. I'd also like others to see this thread, and learn that they too can shed the weight (and more importantly, keep it off in…

I have returned to this thread in amazement with the outpouring of positivity! I wanted to write a bit more about my journey, and some additional practical tips that helped me along the way. Firstly, in my post I wrote about how I instituted small changes to ensure I never bit off more than I could chew. Around the 9 month…

Calorie count. Make sure calories out > calories in. Lean meat has calories, account for everything. Keep a calorie deficit and you will lose your last 10 pounds. Exercise to quicken the weight loss.
-
I didn't see that you were updating this thread, my bad! Amazing job and great results. Keep it up :).

Lost 70 pounds in a year (196-126) without stepping foot in the gym and living a sedentary lifestyle (confined to an electric wheelchair and can't walk). Add me as a friend if you want some tips, or advice. This is a lifestyle change, any real results won't be realized in the short run.

I was thinking the same thing last night. My definition of over eating now was normal in my eyes before.
-
A for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. I will be disciplined the rest of the time (500 calorie deficit). Rough calculations tells me I ate 200-300 over maintenance today.
-
Amazing - great work!
-
You can definitely see the progress over the pictures. Great work!

OP said their target is 1300, I did not suggest this. I just provided tips to be less hungry on said calorie target. Somehow comments in this thread suggest that I influenced his calorie target which is obviously not the case at all.
-
Hm...not sure why the negativity. I was providing advice that I have successfully adhered to for a year which has garnered great results (see success photo thread). If he doesn't like my advice he isn't required to take it. We should all be supporting each other in our mission and goals.

I follow 1200 calories a day and the key is staying on top of your eating for most of the day. Meaning, eating before you GET hungry. Nuts are a start but start incorporating low calorie fruit (apples and pears). Also, I know it might be boring but drink lots of water. Coffee is also great (no cream or sugar) for…

How suddenly people, whom have terrible eating habits, feel compelled to give me all of this dieting advice after they've seen my progress.

Ottawa here :)

Based on your activity level, this is a calorie intake problem (in my opinion). Play around with your calories for 2 months at a time (if you aren't willing to drop them drastically) and see if that will help. Hope that works and best of luck on your journey - don't give up!
-
AMAZING job! Don't minimize what you've accomplished here. That takes a lot of determination and focus. Great work.
-
Amazing job and level of commitment. You should be really proud. Great work!
-
You look good and thank you for sharing your story!

Raw vegetables on the side? Or substantial vegetable like brocolli?

Thank you! I firmly believe for progress and successful transitions, you must have a "mindful" perspective. I use to be mindless - endlessly putting whatever in my mouth, without any consideration. Now, I consider every element (emotion, how I perceived food before, exercise, the deeper reasons why I ate). Calorie…
