OH YES, I know how you feel. My starting weight was 170 kg / 375 pounds and our electronic home scale didn't know what hit her. Up 5 pounds, down 2 kg. So frustrating - eventually I used the elephant scale at our gym and voila! It gets calibrated every 6 months or so and I believe and trust the readings. I only weigh in…

Agree - half a cup, a portion, a slice, a piece of whatever is totally useless. Even 1 soup spoon, 1 tea spoon measure etc. differs from country to country. Best would be to use 100 gram or 1 ounce for easy calculation.

Beef or elephant biltong wrapped in a lettuce leave with a dash of fresh horseradish. Delicious!

During winter time (yes, it can get cold in Cape Town, South Africa) I always make sure to have some nice hot soup ready for a quick snack. I get myself some decent beef bones from the butcher and slow - boil chicken or beef about once a week. I keep portions of this base in the freezer and when needed, just add some…

Hello, greetings from another side of the world - Cape Town, South Africa. If anything, I have learned that losing weight as individual as there are obese people on this planet. It took me ages to understand, that I have to listen to my own body - there are just too many "magic bullets" out there; but we are all unique in…

Portion control for me. If it has that special taste....

The times are only as crazy as we make them. Time to relax, calm down, reflect and not to listen to spouting trumpety trumpy.

On my body they are definitely more fat. :)

The great thing with MFP is that I do not have to "balance" my daily macros - simply because I am adjusting my macros according to my needs. No more binge eating, no more heart burn, no more trigger foods, no more cravings. MFP has calculated my daily calories intake for a reasonable weight loss, I just have to make sure…

If you would be "Greek", you would know... :D
-
Over the years I have gained 10 to 12 kg a year - so it would be reasonable that I am able to lose about the same amount with a much healthier meal plan, a bit of exercise and the support of MFP and all those amazing members.
-
Just a bit of common sense - and obviously listen to trumpety trumps spouting his wisdom to the world...
-
3 more weeks and I will be with MFP for 2 years. 45 kg / 100 pounds down, much more to go.
-
I have noticed that I do not need cheat days when I adjust the macros to the needs of my body. Huge advantage to have this feature on MFP.
-
Some lose, some gain, some stay the same...

For a healthier lifestyle I realized that I can adjust my macros to suit my daily needs. No more cravings, no more "trigger foods", no more binge eating, no more cheat meals. Seems to me that's the main reason why MFP is working for me.

There is nothing better and more inspiring than reading your success story first thing in the morning! Well done!

I prepare a jar of curry (spices, tomato, coconut milk etc.) let it cool down and keep it in the fridge. If some food needs some extra spices, I just add a spoon or three. I also grow lots of different herbs - add a bit of garlic / ginger / lemon grass / chili / etc. and Bob is your uncle.

703 days with MFP and so much support / advise from all those members. Thank you! Lost just over 100 pounds and much more to go.)
-
I find MFP an exhilarating numbers game - there is always something new to learn, something new to experience. Above all - I am finally doing something entirely for myself; so very selfish, I know - but it does feel good!

Anything with a big hole in it - cuts down on calories! :)

In summer - a huge portion of mixed salad, in winter vegetable soup. I love different home - made salad dressings, seasonings and fresh herbs to make every meal different.

I use boiled, peeled whole eggs - just a bit of olive oil and a strong food processor. We vary spices and herbs. Recently we used a little bit of curry powder freshly mixed from Durban. My favorite - fresh herbs which we grow in our garden: chives, parsley, lemon grass, curry leaves, basil, thyme - no salt needed.

First thing in the morning and I read your amazing story. Well done! Best inspiration for my day. I am losing a bit slower. but getting there.

I had a look at a bottle of "real mayonnaise" and what's in it. All those chemicals, some of them I can't even pronounce. Do I want them in my body? Me things not. If I want mayonnaise, I make my own. EasyPeasy.

You are so right - maybe we are overthinking things.... Back to basics, I say!

A nice cuppa always does the trick for me.

Tried it once - because it keeps on turning / moving my injured knee thought it had gone to hell. Tried to jump off, machine continued with its revolutions, those handle sticks did their own thing - prefer to watch other people wrestling with it.

In Central France there was always salads with and as luncheons. Dinner: Usually before dinner, Southern France is different. The Netherlands: Usually some salad with lunch and dinner. England: just about never salads at lunch and dinner. Belgium: very much like Central France. Germany: Usually salad with lunch, rarely…

Have been living with a knee injury (skiing - torn inner ligament off the bone) for many years. Best exercise - no jarring, no pulling, no side moves - is water aerobics. Gives an excellent work out and actually makes my knee feel good for a change. Also useful is stationary bicycle - if you can bend your knee that much.…
