When you only have less than 20 calories at the end of the day

What do you eat at the end of the night when u only have less than 20-30 calories left? It's hard to find something with such low calories that would make a good snack. (Granted I've already eaten dinner & had a snack so I don't necessarily need it) or do you just not even bother? Thx!

Personally, I wouldn't bother. Or you can consider going over calories one day and adjust the next day (or later in the week).
MFP allows you to see your average calorie intake over the week, as well as if you're over or under. When I'm under by more than 300-400 calories by the weekend, I consider eating a higher calorie snack, side or appy.4 -
I wouldn't bother. Unless u love celery 🤣. If your finding your still actually hungry most nights, your deficit might be too strict6

Pickles. Radishes. Lettuce mix with vinegar as dressing. One square of dark chocolate. Roasted nori. Hot tea. These are all some things that you can have when you’re craving a little something but don’t have a lot of calories. Or, if it’s at the end of the night, just go to bed!
I’ve been known to do 15 minutes on stationary bike so I can afford a more substantial snack. If I’m really hungry I borrow calories and bank them the next day. But before doing that I have to know where the extra calories are going to come from - for example if it’s a rest day, and the next day is a long run day, that’s reasonable. But if both days have the same amount of planned activity, why would I expect to be less hungry tomorrow?6 -
I don't bother. The idea is to get as close to your calorie goal as you can. It's pretty hard to hit it bang on, and 20 cals under isn't a great deal (hence the difficulty of finding anything to use it for!).8

Depends on my goals. Trying to gain, I would make sure I hit my goal, overshoot actually if I can. Trying to lose I would leave it unless I was hungry.2
-
I would just let it go unless you're hungry. I would advise not to leave hundreds of calories over at the end of the day, but a small handful is fine to overlook.3

Bantaam half sour pickles 10 cals
Ginger Peanut butter chew 16
Garlic bagel chip 20
Nuts.com jumbo roasted pecan 20
Pumpkin seeds - very small, count out the grams to 20
Red grapes, 3.4 cals each
Blackberries, 2.8 cals each
Hershey chocolate kiss 232 -
Almonds,pickles,popcorn.2

That’s all I had left tonight before supper 🙄8

So i have to choices. I eather work out. Burn mor calories, so i can snack, or i dont bother an sleep it off. . Usually i will sleep it off.1

A nice cuppa always does the trick for me.3
-
I wouldn't bother. That's within the margin of error.10
-
Echo lemurcat2, I would not bother, I don’t see the point in eating for the sake of it. If I was hungry I might look at my deficit to see if I was being too harsh, dinner, snack and still wanting more.... not sustainable3
-
I think this is not worth stressing about honestly. I never meet my calorie goal exactly. It’s TWUD. Close your diary and move on.2
-
I don't bother. If I feel I'm peckish just because I'm nervous/stressed I'll have a huge mug of green tea with one or two teaspoons of honey (21-42kcal). If I'm hungry I'll have a 150-200kcal snack (fruit or nuts etc) and won't mind the extra calories as it averages out the other days when I'm not hungry and I have a bigger calorie deficit at the end of the day. To me is more about how hungry I am and whether I had proper nutrition rather than trying to hit the number.3

half a punnet of strawberries is only about 30 calories.
If I were feeling peckish and had a punnet of strawberries handy I would have that or a small mandarine or 50g of grapes.
or 100g of watermelon - well I dont actually like watermelon so I wouldnt have that -but you get the point - a small portion of any fruit.
but only if you want to - 20 calories is not worth bothering over really.2 -
It’s close enough, I’d let it go.2

Considering calorie counting is not as accurate as we would like to believe it is best to do nothing.2
-
I just add the add extra calories choice under the quick option to the snacks to reach goal, submit so I can see my future weight in 5 weeks (lol) and then minus the extra calories back out. It will then show up that you were under goal.0

20-30 calories left is well within the margin of error logging...I wouldn't bother. You don't need to be bang on your calories and calorie counting is a very imperfect thing.5 -

Yes, 3 almonds is about right. I had 6 almonds (7 grams) earlier for 42 calories. (And banana and seitan.)1 -
If you're not hungry then don't worry about 30 calories. You don't need to be that precise in meeting your calorie target.
IF you are hungry and only have 30 calories left then splash out and eat something even if it puts you a little over your target because you don't need to be that precise in meeting your calorie target.
If you went over by 100 calories a few times a week your progress would slow down by something like 2 or 3 pound over the course of the year.
Managing weight isn't about being perfect all the time. It's about being pretty good most of the time.4 -
Laughing cow cheese is 300

I usually just eat a pickle, some carrots, or have a cup of hot tea. Otherwise, I just let it ride0

Echoing that due to margin of error, you’re probably right at goal anyway, so I wouldn’t eat anything else if I wasn’t hungry. I’m typically over or way under my goal. Not worried about it as long as I’m still losing slowly over time. I just upped my goal from 1520 to 1670, but I’m at 1420 for today and full so I’m not going to eat anything else. Tomorrow I might be at goal or I might eat like 2000 calories.2

Chai latte @ 17 calories is sweet, satisfying, filling, and looks like a great from a coffee shop:
2 scoops Blue Lotus instant powdered chai
1/2 serving Jordan’s Sugar Free Caramel syrup
1/8c frothed skim milk (Ninja hand pump frother and 30 seconds in microwave make a really acceptable whipped cream substitute )
Dash of cinnamon on top0 -
cucumber, tomatoe, celery0

"when you have less than 20 calories at the end of the day..." then you're doing a damn good job. Congrats!2

Yeah that’s about right. It’s 30 calories, you’re not going to get full from it by any means. If I’m in a calorie deficit I’m going to eat every calorie that I’m allotted.0
