I’m in my early 50’s and I have been on MFP for 120 days now, managed to lose 22 pounds so far AND already have some great MFP friends who are supportive and very motivational - some truly inspiring folks out there. I’m trying to lose bodyfat while at the same time build muscle - a challenging balancing act of proper…

Yes indeed, in fact I have switched my daily routine this week to a 'two meal per day' lifestyle choice. My wife and I explored the concept this past weekend and it works for both of us (we are both foodies and love a good gourmet meal at dinnertime). Also, we are about to go on a month long road trip and the 'two meal per…

Totally agree - I'm 51 and have no desire to go back on the clock ... but wouldn't mind keeping it where it is for as long as I can ;)

Habit and routine tends to be a blessing and a curse for me - out of "habit" I routinely fall into poor eating habits such as getting that treat when I get a coffee to go, etc. Now that I have start MFP, my 'lifestyle' is now a conscious effort. My hope is that, over time, the good routines that I am developing become an…

I’m a ‘newbie’ here and therefore no wisdom to share, but @gadgetgirlL comments seems to apply well to my current circumstance.

This has always interested me, as I am a research nut. What is fascinating, both here in Canada and in the US as well as Europe, is how the official Food Guidelines (Food Pyramids) have evolved / modified over the years. Even some of the top researchers in nutrition tend to significantly change their views and perspectives…

I’m just starting to track my steps - using the Walkmeter app (iOS) and liking it a lot. Developed an ‘evening walk’ routine with my wife - 2 miles - plus am able to walk to my office every weekday.

I typically have a long pour Americano - nothing added. However, on Sundays I treat myself to a Grande Vanilla Latte - with whole milk ... then I drink it slowly while reading a book :)

Thanks for sharing - good article, always a bit scary for me when I read something like this: "People who gained a moderate amount of weight (5 to 22 pounds) before the age of 55 increased their risk of premature death, chronic diseases and decreased the likelihood of achieving healthy aging. And the higher the weight…

We use a Vitaclay slow cooker - very tasty stews, one reason why I love the fall season. Just got a new spiralizer for our kitchenaide mixer - eating veggie noodles and much less pasta nowadays.

I'm an avid mountain hiker living in the Pacific WET Coast - weather never keeps me indoors, the stormier it is the more I like it :-)

I love the idea of routine meals - it just makes things so much simpler. However, I'm too much of a foodie and love new taste experiences. It's not that I eat crappy foods, nor am I into packaged junk foods, it's portion size that I literally have no conception of. Wasn't a problem when I was in my twenties and thirties,…

I'm a newbie and looking at some lifestyle changes, including eating habits. It's not that I ate poorly or a lot of junk food, it's more along the lines I have no concept of portion sizing. My wife is highly supportive and we are looking at spiralized vegetable noodles instead of pasta (of which is one of my great nemesis).

I’m just starting out, a definite newbie. I’ve lost three pounds this week BUT that’s just me getting used to better routines and increase water intake. Still feels good though :)
