  • Me: 0 LNS: 17 Never too late to start.....right.....
  • 5km flat would burn a lot less calories than 5km undulating hills.
  • You sound tired! "'exercise or sleep?" - niether, Eat! I don't see any point trying to exercise in the state you describe yourself. Try to get a healthy diet going first. Then if you are feeling up to it exercise.
  • It's clear this gym focuses on sales above all else, and use pressure tactics (and dumb muscelbound staff) to intimidate you into signing up. It probably works most of the time. Just figure out your own regime. I'd only sign up to a personal trainer if a) I seriously doubted my own abilities or technique. b) I needed more…
  • sweeet, I'm trying not to be too jealous of your running :) I did my first HM 6 months ago, and I was hooked. But my training also brought out some ITB/knee issues which aren't resolved yet. AHHH! I cannot WAIT, until I can get back into it. A full marathon would be a dream come true. Something that once was so far out of…
  • I'm fairly certain this app would need to be installed on the phone you want to track - i.e. you can't track anyone elses phone. There is one 'trick' app that lets you put in someone elses number, then it brings up an image showing where YOUR phone is (obviously you are standing next to the person you are showing off to -…
  • I can't stand it when patricia arquette comes on screen with that high voice. It's irrational but it sends me into a violent rage. (Sarah Jessica Parker is an obvious choice too...'Family Guy' had a great episode where she looked like a horse, I often think back to it and chuckle.)
  • My main problem is I just don't know where to start. (Hint: DON'T start by sleeping on the couch, duh!) I have formally advised my better half that although I'm unlikely to pick up/cook/clean anything of my own will, I will promptly attend to any tasks that she orders...I mean asks me to do.
  • I am afflicted with this condition. I can be perfect for many many weeks, then something will happen, like I decide to have a single cupcake, and then all of a sudden this raging monster comes out and literally starts stuffing more cupcakes than can fit into my mouth, and once I'm done I pour some cereal, then have a milo…
  • I jumped ship from another website so that no one here knows it's about my 6th time back into it :) I generally go about 3 months, then spend 6 months or so reverting before I need to get back on the wagon. I think for some people it's inevitable, although I wish it could be permanent. Either way - while we're here - lets…
  • Just posting to say - sorry to hear that. How much does it suck that we get in an awesome mindset of being healthy and exercising, and then our darned BODY lets us down? Oh well. There's all sorts of things that can cause knee problems. I personally get pain on the outside of my knee - caused by the ITB (band of tendons or…
  • "....one hundred and ninety-nine,....two HUNDRED!" YESSS!!!! I'll do the first 198 later...
  • haha, it's pretty true.
  • There's a few out there this SUMMER that I'm giving a miss. But the top notch ones that have me all excited every time there's a new episode are still Dexter, The Walking Dead (how awesome is this!), and Modern Family, Big Bang Theory. Not sure how far away new eps are but but Bobs Burgers is a classic too :)
  • I'm so glad I don't work in a government job - my wife used to tell me they'd have a cake almost every second day! I personally can't resist the temptation of a food that ticks both the FREE and SUGARY boxes. (Well sometimes I can, but it's hard - Good on ya!). Luckily in a job where the boss only ever gets a cake for the…
  • For me, the first 10 hours of the day are easiest especially if I'm not at home. I eat virtually the same breakfast and lunch every day, with morning and afternoon snack. Nothing fancy, cereal for breakfast, yoghurt for morning tea (I keep it in my drawer - it's still cold after an hour or two) salad & meat sandwhich for…
  • Even slow running Even sitting :) You press 'start', it logs where you go. Very easy to use. I've used it to compare driving distances.
  • +Kids. Hate my dog. Feel guilty about it but that's the way it is. Used to shower her with attention before the kids came along but now she gets minimum attention I can get away with without breaching RSPCA guidelines. Love my kids. Also hoping that when the kids are older and I get more sleep and more active that the dog…
  • I often get to 9pm with a few hunge calories up my sleeve. I'll force myself to not go more than say 150 under my goal on any given day, so always make sure i've got fruit and yoghurt on hand. The good news is I very rarely go to bed feeling hungry :) I SHOULD try to eat more earlier on in the day, but then I just feel…
  • My eldest is 3, which is a great age. He's really interested in everything. The teaching is just as fun as you anticipate. Cooking, using a potty, kicking a ball - it's all great. You explain how to do it, show them, you see their eyes deep in thought as they try to do it. They are so smart. Have fun.
  • I had a massive bowl of milo cereal last night. It was awesome.
  • I hate water. Or I did. Just a few years ago I didn't drink ANY. My goodness. I forced myself to drink it. Sometimes cold water is nicer. Sometimes it SEEMS nicer to drink from a big bottle. In any event, I decided to drink more, so I fill a 1 litre bottle first thing, and keep sipping it til it's gone. After lunch I do…
  • Are you here to lose weight? (Most are, but not everyone). Tell us what you are here for and I'm sure we can lend some support. Just dive in and start logging everything you eat, that's my advice. It's pretty easy whether your using the web interface or the phone app. Once you have to see a list of what you eat, you…
  • Cheers deathstar for the tip, thumbs up. If you have the MFP app on your phone, you can just scan barcodes (milk, cereal, bread, mars bars..) and it brings up the product and the calories. It's too easy :)

  • Traditionally, 'bumping' a thread is making a quick post so that the thread goes to the very top of the Recent Posts list. You bump it to the top! At myfitnesspal, it's slightly different - by making a single post in a thread, the topic will get added to your 'My Topics' list. So people are saying 'bump', but what they…
  • Dammit, I've got one bung knee too. They seem too popular. If anyone wants it, it's not too bad. Won't cause you any problems throughout the day, although it won't let you run very far. Happy to swap for an upper body ailment that doesn't hinder running.
  • Every morning and every night. My diet is so regular right now that based on the nightly scale I pretty much know what I'll be in ther morning (usually drops by about 1 kg).
  • The only diet I ever go on is a simple calorie controlled diet, that's all. And once I get into the swing of it, the weight just falls off. (My wife hates me for it :) )
  • I think it's pretty dumb to throw something in the air if it might come back down and land on your head. Can't they come up with some sort of debris collection service - fly up, grab onto it and bring it down safely. Come on NASA. Not too worried about it hitting someone. But it would be cool if it landed close enough to…
