  • I agree, make smaill and sustainable changes. I have gradually lost 30 pounds with at least another 20 to go. I barely lost any weight in the beginning because the changes I was making were small, but I now log everything, and workout a minimum of 150 min. a week. I know I could lose weight much faster but this is not a…
  • I am able to do a 15 min. gentle jog- a few months ago I was struggling to complete 30 min. walking videos, I needed a break after 15 min.
  • I love watching your progress. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you for continuing to share.
  • Thanks for sharing! You look great and it is great that you have maintained for 10 years.
  • What a great story. Thank you for sharing it. You look amazing.
  • Awesome job! Your story is inspiring as I am losing weight for the same reason. Congratulations.
  • In March I was diagnosed with prediabetes. I started making small changes. My weight barely moved in the beginning but I gradually changed to a pretty healthy way of eating. I move at least 150 min. a week. I track everything I eat. I am working with a nutritionist as part of a group to prevent diabetes. I have lost about…
  • Unfortunately the 5 pounds a year is what got me here. I would rationalize that it was only a few pounds and I never worked to get it off. Finally when it got to be 35 to 40 and I started to have health issues I began to deal with it. You would think that I would see how heavy I am in pictures but again I just rataionalize…
  • Youtube has some good chair exercies. Google chair exercises for seinors. HASfit, Renew Active and Silver Sneakers all have some good videos and they encourage you to goat your own pace. Do what yu can and build up.
  • I asked a similar question awhile back. I was down 13 pounds and no difference. I am now down 24 pounds and I have gone from an 18 that was tight to a 14 pant. My tops are XL but my XXL are too big now. I am losing weight pretty slowly (by choice) and I feel like it has taken time for my body to catch up with my weight…
  • I love Skinnytaste and I also use Slender Kitchen. I will check out some of these other websites.
  • I am working with a nutritionist as part of a diabetes prevention group. We were talking about hydration last night and she also warned that our urine should not be clear, that can be an indication we are drinking too much or too fast. I didn't know that. I need to spread my water intake out more for sure.
  • For me I track everything, but nothing is off limits. If I really want something I eat it even if it means going over my calorie goal. Most of the time I am well within the range I allow myself. Seeing what I am eating, and the nutritional value of it helps me a lot. I have lost about 25 pounds. I will say my weight loss…
  • Good for you for catching it before it got out of control! Sure wish I had.
  • I took a hike that my husband had said would be a little challenging but not too bad. Well he hadn't hiked it in at least 15 years and it was somewhat more challenging than he remembered. It was tough and tested me but I was able to complete it. I wouldn't have been able to do it ia few months ago.
  • First take a deep breath- you have been through a lot this year on top of the general stress of all that is going on in the world. For me what worked was making small changes to begin with. The first thing I did was to start tracking everything I ate no matter what. When I saw what I was eating I started focusing on…
  • Great job with the weight loss. You are right- you do need to exercise for your health in general. I keep my exercise totally separate from my weight loss- I track it in the exercise notes so I keep track of what I am doing, but I do not want it added back in to calories I can consume. That doesn't work for me. There are…
  • @j29t I am thrilled that I only put on a couple of pounds as well, and I am nearly back to where I was pre Christmas. I often gain at least 6 or 7 pounds over the holidays and it never ends up coming off. I wasn't going to deny myself treats, but I didn't go wild either. (Of course it helps that none of the typical events…
  • Good for you for getting out and walking. It will get easier with time and practice. You will look back and be amazed and proud at how far you have come.
  • A simple thing that often (not always) helps me is to ask myself "will eating this solve my problem?" Often it is enough to stop me from eating when I am stressed.
  • I use Slender Kitchen and Skinnytaste websites for recipes and ideas.
  • Welcome, I think your post could have been written by so many of us. I know I scan the room and now ZOOM meetings to see if there is anyone larger than I am in the room; I too feel better when there is. I am embarrassed to admit that. I have been a closet eater most of my life. I remember feeling very alone and unworthy…
  • I have been tracking for 150 days now. I am honest and track the good, the bad and the ugly. Sometimes I will track something before I eat it, - the shock value of seeing it tracked can make me decide I don't really want it.
  • Great job keeping so much of yourprevious weight loss off. I was diagnosed with heart issues a couple of years ago and have been going to the gym regularly on the advice of my cardiologist. She tells me exercise is keeping me alive. I don't want to test what she is saying and I panicked when gyms closed- I still haven't…
  • Exercise is essential to good health!
  • I am in my 60's. You are doing great to have lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I am losing about 5 pounds a month. I would like to be losing faster but I also know that what I am doing is working for me. I have found that doing Youtube videos helps me to workout on a regular basis. I was going to the gym pre- Covid, but…
  • I am so glad that you are here! That is a great first step. Please be gentle with yourself as you make the necessary changes. Don't try to make the changes all at once, and don't beat yourself up if/when you slip up. You are human. One of the biggest mistakes I've made over the years was to mess up, feel like a failure and…
  • That is awesome. Thanks for sharing!
  • As others have said it takes time. I have quit so many times because I didn't see the results I thought I should in a short amount of time. I am now losing 4-5 pounds per month but I can go couple of weeks without losing anything. I just know if I continue to eat healthy eventually I will lose weight.
