  • I'm within 4 lbs of goal and decided to let myself have a few more carbs (had been 30-40). Well my weightless has plateaued and I haven't upped my calorie intake so ..... As much as I love carbs, it's back to 30-40 for me, then when I'm at maintenance, I'll just raise it to only 40-60 (I just tried 70-90 and it obviously…
  • That's fantastic!
  • It was a new (for me) salon and the cut wasn't at all what I wanted, but the lady who cut my hair was so impressed with my weight loss that I gave her a larger tip than I had been planning. She was good for my further weightloss/maintenance anyway. My hair is cooler for the heat and will grow.
  • I finally get to get my hair cut. Yay!!!!! Salons are open! My hair's been driving me bats, but now it'll be ok for another couple of months. And this coming Sunday I get to go to church again! I don't know if we'll be able to receive Communion and I know we won't be able to sing, but it will be wonderful anyway. Yay!!!!
  • For one thing, although I also get sick eating eggs, I've found that for me, making sure the eggs were very well cooked often made a difference. The posters above have a lot of ideas for you if that doesn't work. I have fallen back on Atkins high protein bars and a spoonful of peanut or almond butter. Now I'm trying full…
  • Protein is important for satiety for me, but I do need to up my carbs a little before I exercise. Otherwise I don't have enough energy. There are a number of websites describing what low-carb dieter's who exercise a lot do with carbs. They might be helpful for you.
  • I have done both and now need to count calories and also do very low carb together in order to lose weight. I have tried it without doing both and I always stop losing weight (wasn't true 25 years ago). I adore carbs of all sorts, however, although I could simply count calories when I was younger, now I need to both do…
  • Carbs (along with calories) make a difference, at least for some people.
  • I was on it for a few years. It seemed to either cause or coincide with some more pounds. It didn't cause me to totally not want to move, but may have slowed me down. Plus I was on some heart drugs that that's what their purpose was, so I can't tell what caused what. I do know that I gained some during that time. Losing…
  • I need now nt only to carefully count calories, but I have to go low carb (30-40 g). I love carbs of all kinds. Well, age has gotten me this way, but if I keep carbs low (plus count calories) I can lose lbs. - 61 so far at 64 years old.

  • ma2007pmc - What I saw was what I personally found, that although I could pay attention to only lower calories when I was younger (39) I also had to, now (64) pay attention to lower carbs. That's what made a definite difference to me, personally. Course, I know that as in everything else about our physiologies, it's…
  • I'll be glad to do what I can. Losing after 60 is not as easy as it once was, but certainly possible. You can definitely do it!
  • I have read in numerous places of all the downsides to sit-ups. Reverse crunches seem to have more favor.
  • I have done that every few months (a very high calorie day) for metabolism sake and, although it may well be coincidence or my particular physiology, I didn't plateau near as often as I often read through here and other personal experiences. It was fairly unplanned and I couldn't do it very often.
  • I wonder if what we call set-points aren't partially the fat cells we've previously acquired, either genetically or in previous personal history. Our bodies then feel the need to fill up those fat cells, even if we want them empty.
  • I get irritated at very little now (except grandchildren, of course). This isolation is totally gruesome! People were mostly all wearing masks last month and the month before and following arrows, however I think they've mostly given up. At least people aren't in a looney state of fear but I think common sense has taken a…
  • Boy, you guys are good. I'm feeling not as chipper at the moment - I think the lockdown may have finally hit. I do react to things late. I so feel for you, FairySunflower! It's really hard right now especially. Even the drs say it. All I can do is commiserate and to suggest, like MaltedTea said above - be more gentle to…
  • I was doing fine-slow but sure, even during the lockdown, until the last few weeks. Rather than losing I'm bobbing back and forth, no matter what I do. I think what it is, the only thing I can figure, is it's really gotten to me now psychologically. I just don't seem able to take the continued (my state is slowly starting…
  • I don't do full keto either - I'm a wimp and plain 'ole don't have the willpower, what can I say? I imagine a dr would be able to measure cortisol, but since I've definitely all too commonly thought I was fine when actually I was a basket case, I'd try some "calming"/cortisol decreasing ex. for a few days. You do say…
  • Unless you're really really tall - 85g of protein should be fine. I know eating low carb can cause increased cortisol production if yoga/meditation/prayer/etc. aren't there to decrease it. I wonder.......
  • I've had a husband, brother, grandfather, grandson (he could hardly avoid it, right?) and me with hypoglycemia so I really pay attention to wonky pancreases - and eat low-carb. Right on the net carbs. You're taking in a lot of fiber and yes, fiber certainly helps with glycogen balance. Weight gain, I'd definitely put down…
  • My waist is finally what is said to be what is preferred by MDs - less than 1/2 my height in inches!
  • Protein, carbs and calories here. And 2 calorie/carb apps. Seems like the older you get the more things you need to pay attention too, at least I didn't have much problem losing weight when I was young. That's just due to genes, tho'.
  • If your pants are baggy, you may very well be size 14 now, podperson1! Since I've been loosing sizes I've noticed that clothes don't actually get baggy until there's been 2 sizes down.
  • Once (sometimes twice)/wk, underpants and after wee first thing in the morning. If I weigh more than that I get super depressed at slight gains or losses due to water weight.
  • My neurologist, due to symptoms seen, did a B-12 and Vit D test. I turned out deficient in both (skin is fair, burns easily so I don't go into the sun much, plus northern latitude). I'm fine on B-12 now, but both he and my reg. dr want me to keep taking 2,000 IU of Vit. D for good. I've read in numerous studies that low…
  • Different masks I've tried left me breathless. Either my nose is too big or maybe my face is too long. :/
  • I posted on here before, I think, about six months ago, but I can't find my post so here goes - I'm 64, have lost 61 lbs (over the last year and 1/2), have 4 grandkids-2 teens and 2 toddlers, I want to lose 4 more lbs but it just is going up and down a lb or two all the time. I'm not watching my twin toddlers super often…
