Gelato, tartufo, oh my! Roman cuisine, yum! (Artichokes!) My goal for July is 40 miles again.
-
I've done many short walks/wuns and few runs this month, but given how difficult life has been, I feel good that I got over 30 miles in. I hope July is calmer.

@chris_in_cal - A sleep challenge sounds great, if for no other reason but to make you aware of your bedtime routines and to learn about your sleep patterns. Hope it helps. @katharmonic - Running along the Rhine River is wonderful. Also there is a greenbelt (Grüngürtel). I think you can combine them to make a circle. My…

@chris_in_cal - I'm with you. I often plan to run in the morning but mostly don't get to it until later in the day, even when all is going well at home. Lately, my kid has not been sleeping (waking up some time between 2 & 3:30 and not falling back to sleep) and my spouse generally leaves for work before 7 so it just…

Hi all, I finally caught up on the 70 messages that were posted while I was gone dealing with family stuff. I have done more walking than running, but I've managed to get a few miles in. The ticker isn't updating, so I'm not posting it. I was in NC visiting my mom for a couple of days and hated the heat (ran on the…

An unpleasantly busy time. Glad to see everyone here. I will catch up someday soon.

PS I too just finished Ted Lasso. Loved the pop culture references and the feel-goodiness.

Yike! The air quality here in NY is frightful. No running possible at the moment. Any others here under the strange yellow haze?
-
@Scott6255 Amazing streak. I'd love to hear your insights about logging every day. @quilteryoyo Is your mom's water issue resolved? My daughter had a yoga class today, so I took the time to go for a short run. Didn't want to go too many days without running.
-
@Scott6255 and @chris_in_cal - Yay for 1963! A good year to be born. Happy belated 60th, @chris_in_cal. I'll join you in August. Dreadful week at home, so no running or walking to report yet.

Unexpected car trouble today meant I didn't have a chance to run or walk, so I didn't quite make my monthly goal.

Okay. I'm going for 40 miles this month. Switching to miles because I've got a local motivation partner who tracks in miles. She and I are going to try to push each other to get 10 miles per week.

Congrats on new shoes, @chris_in_cal, @kgirlhart, @TheMrWobbly. I find getting new shoes feels like such a treat. @chris_in_cal, my unicorns were NB 880 v7; nothing has fit me like those since then (but then I have the opposite problem from you - my feet are very narrow). I'm enjoying my Hoka One One Cliftons,…

Seeing so many people already (well) past their monthly goal makes me feel the need to step it up. Still hoping to reach my monthly goal. @kgirlhart - Wonderful photos! @polska_girl - Love the video. Runners are same kind of fun and goofy all over the world.
-
Maybe it's the power of sluggestion from the slug-watchers in this group, but I've been feeling very sluggish on my wuns, despite the new shoes which are very comfy. I hope it's just a temporary phase as I try to be consistent after my knee bruise break. Run photos of me always look bad. My response is always, "Is my…

@Laurz9191 - I use a mantra sometimes when I run, and it definitely helps me. It makes running a bit like meditating for me. @eleanorhawkins - I love your donkey story. Sounds like that donkey is living his best life. Haha

Is the traffic in Houston that bad? Ugh! That must make you nuts. It's pretty bad here on Long Island, too, and most places require 15-20 minutes minimum, and when I say something is 30 mins away that's without traffic (which could easily bump it up to 45 mins). That said, my life is fairly circumscribed because I get so…

@Martaindale - Thanks for the feedback on CrossFit. The closest Lagree studio near me is almost half hour away, so I know I won't do that. My main goal, I think is to build muscle. Running is my favorite exercise and I do yoga for my mental health, but I don't think it's enough for maintaining overall fitness, and I need…

Sometimes the ticker seems to randomly show an old number. Weird. @Teresa502 @kgirlhart @Laurz9191 : When I run trails I often see critters (mice and chipmunks) on the path, mostly alive. No snakes, no slugs. I'm not sure how I'd feel about either of those. The worst is when I accidentally run through a spider web. Ugh.…

Slowly and steadily getting back into running (more wunning, really). The weather has been so beautiful. I'm going to buy new shoes this week as a motivator. An aside: Any CrossFit people (or former CrossFit people) in this group? If so, what are pros and cons? Is it a good adjunct to running? I'm looking for motivation…

Enjoying the beautiful weather here on Long Island. I got my old Garmin Forerunner 45 to work again (by getting a new charger cable), but after researching new watches, I'm now getting the urge to upgrade. But can't decide if it's worth the expense. I also need new running shoes. I think I'm going to get myself a mother's…

I've been in NC for my nephew's graduation for the past few days. Ate too much, exercised too little. I did manage to get in some short walks with my sister, but no running or RT. Feeling like a bloated slug, if there is such a thing. Did get a short run in today to try to get back on track. Felt good.

I'm in awe of everyone's May goals. I finally got back to running on Monday. (Yay!) My knee was sore after, but fine the next day so I did a run/walk yesterday. I'm going for 60 km this month.
-
What an amazing group. Everyone is crushing their goals - @Chris_in_Cal, @alphahowls, @kgirlhart, @Lauraz9191, @eleanorhawkins, etc. Congrats to all! @quilteryoyo - Loved your trip photos. Smokey Mountain National Park is on my bucket list. Not sure why I haven't gone yet. The anti-inflammatory is definitely helping my…

So ortho says I just have a bad bruise behind my knee cap; the bones and ligaments are fine. And as a bonus, he noted that my 59 y.o. post-ACL surgery (nearly ten years ago) knee looks great -- no sign of arthritis or major cartilage loss. I need to rest it for another week or two, take the anti-inflammatory med he…

I just caught up on the 76 posts I missed. Unfortunately, my knee/leg doesn't seem to be healing very quickly, so I'm still only walking (running hurts, but walking is ok). I am having it checked out by an orthopedist tomorrow. I hope it's nothing serious. In the meantime, my kid is going through a very rough patch, and…

Still walking instead of running, but enjoying the spring blooms and buds. Gonna try wunning on Monday to see how my knee feels.
-
So I'm sticking to walking until my knee feels less sore. Today's walk was quite nice. My old Garmin 45s is not charging, so it may be time to get a new watch. What do y'all use/recommend?

Hello, here's hoping April is a great month for everyone! With all the talk of Easter candy, I can't help but think of the opening to T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land": "April is the cruellest month..." (although he wasn't talking about Easter eggs) Monday Check-in: 59 y.o., 5'7" SW (12/22): 162 GW: <140 4/3: 147.8 Hello, I'm…

I'm sticking with 60km of walk/running this month. Paused my 10K plan because of lost days due to illness, then injury. Will try to walk and do RT everyday until my knee feels better. @tarun_yadavA - now I'm convinced that you're trolling me. Aw man, I'm jealous. Maybe if I can get my mileage up somewhere near yours…
