I got up a little late this morning and had a hard time getting going. But once I did I had a nice run. I ran 5.35 miles and if I had gotten out earlier I would have missed this beautiful sunrise:
And this cool turtle.
He did not like me getting so close.

Thanks @Scott6255 . Glad you were able to run outside today!
@polskagirl01 Love that video. Wish I knew what they were saying. The little kid at about the 2 min mark is precious. You're race pictures are funny. Glad the kids are safe now and that you felt like doing the translating after a nap.
Great run @kgirlhart. That sunrise is beautiful. If that is a snapping turtle, you don't want to get too close either. The old wives tell here is that if they bite, they won't let go until it thunders.4 -

I had a busy day, including having lunch with a friend and taking mom to the doctor for pink eye again. I think she never fully got over it from earlier in the month. Got more meds that hopefully will clear it up for good. I didn't sleep the best last night, so after an afternoon nap, I did a 2 mile walk on the driveway....just didn't have the energy to run. I think my body agreed since my avg HR was 124 with a max of 138 bpm.
I still can't get the ticker factory to work. Monthly total up to 64.25 miles.6 -

Along time ago I messed with that ticker, and it was real jankety. I gave up hoping I would figure it out. I think *it* is broken, not the users.

@kgirlhart - love the turtle pic!!!
@polskagirl01 - I know, I know. Got carried away with that run back! So far all okay... 🤞🙏3 -
Just catching up - a busy few days and only 5k steps yesterday!
I have a vision of you running around someone garden in and out of the sprinkler @martaindale !
Congratulations on reaching 500 miles @tarun_yadavA , I am only about 465 behind you!
I don't have any race photos, one day, and when I do get one I sure it will be... interesting
First full mile of running in two years went well, 12:04.6, though the time didn't matter, about 1.6 miles in total before the app told me to walk. Looking for 2 miles on Sunday, that escalated quickly.
My ticker is working okay, it just takes about an hour to catch up after an update.

I got in a “speed” session today. It was much easier and faster than the last time (last week) because it is not yet hot again. I was able to ditch the long pants and long sleeves today though . Overall an enjoyable speed session. I forgot my headphones and was able to hear a bunch of frogs 🐸 making their frog sounds (croaking?). That was kind of cool. I didn’t see any of them though. I got 8km in.
So far for May 192.3/200km - one more run and I’ll be at my goal .
@tarun_yadavA Agree with @Scott6255 and @polskagirl01 tsk tsk- do your best not to rush it .
@polskagirl01 Seriously? Busses on the race course during a race? That’s one of the most enjoyable things about street races - not having to worry about traffic for a change.4 -
Seeing so many people already (well) past their monthly goal makes me feel the need to step it up. Still hoping to reach my monthly goal.
@kgirlhart - Wonderful photos!
@polska_girl - Love the video. Runners are same kind of fun and goofy all over the world.3 -

I ran 3.3 miles this morning. It was a nice, but uneventful run. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday. I am hoping to get up before him so I can get one mile for my streak. I'm worried that it will be raining on Sunday and I won't be able to do my long run, but I don't want to do it Saturday. Hopefully the weather will be OK on either Sunday or Monday.
@quilteryoyo My husband said it was a snapping turtle. He asked me if I picked it up. I said "I did not!". I have always heard the same about snapping turtles.

I crossed over 412 miles this morning, know I can get 75 more, but leaves me 13 shy of 500. Going to have do dig in and see if I can jerk 13 more out of my tail before 31st.9

@polskagirl01 Seriously? Busses on the race course during a race? That’s one of the most enjoyable things about street races - not having to worry about traffic for a change. The song came out right around the time I was about to run my first marathon. The 2 guys did a comedy/concert for the marathon "pasta party" the night before, and I have the cutest picture of my 2 little kids sitting there watching it and laughing. The organizer was pretty good then... I'm not sure what happened. I think there were problems with city officials not wanting to shut down traffic properly. The race routes became more bike-path around the lake (shared with cyclists and pedestrians during the race) and more and more vehicles crossing the lines on the road sections and police not necessarily caring. I believe attendance has gone down. They haven't even had a marathon since 2019 - and that was the year they misdirected us at the start and the course ended up 400 meters short. No one's times were good for any official purposes.
The same photographer made a warning to runners that participation in these races endangers your life...

Super easy. Sunday is a long run(for me)
If it isn't obvious, the old 5K plan workouts were based on time, and this new 10K plan is based on distances.

@kgirlhart That sunrise is BEAUTIFUL! Love how vivid the entire sky is.
@tarun_yadavA A little bump in distance is a good thing if you’re not hurting because you are doing a good job keeping the pace easy, not pushing everything all at once.7 -

@martaindale thanks Sarah! 😊0 -
Good job @tarun_yadavA keeping to a moderate effort! Your Stava analysis usually has you pegged at Hard or Maximum, so you are showing great restraint 😉
Got just a hair over 11 miles this morning. Unbelievable that this just barely counts as the longest run this month. But made monthly goal, so guess it doesn't really matter how it gets done.

The yellow fields are going green. But there are other pretty flowers to look at now 😊
From my walk yesterday:Today I took my daughter to her German class, then we went to a café for lunch & dessert (she had a brownie with ice cream and I had New York style cheesecake. It was a compromise, because she wanted to make brownies and I didn't want to stand in the kitchen that long. Got home, laid around in the hammock and then slowly tackled the ugly landscaping bush (collapsed from snow over the winter, hasn't recovered well, so I cut the top half of it off). It's still ugly, but I didn't get a picture. That's it for my day. Laying around, using my pressure therapy boots, drinking electrolytes and a protein/probiotic/BCAA shake thing. I mixed in some Nesquik, so it tastes good 😆8 -

I just ran 1 mile for my streak today. It is kind of rainy and looks like it will be all weekend. I may not get a long run this week. I'm just hoping to be able to get a mile each day. Luckily I have already reached my goal for May. I also ordered new shoes. They are supposed to be delivered today, but I am not sure if I want to run in them if it is raining. Eventually, of course I will, but I don't know if I should run the first run in them when it is raining.

The run today was hard. I would blame the hills, and I’m sure they contributed, but it wasn’t just that. My legs just did not want to run. It took almost 2 miles for things to start feeling decent then I hit the hardest of the hills and the decent feeling was gone. The weather wasn’t bad, there weren’t a lot of people out, and there were deer and wildflowers. But even with all the pluses, it was just a struggle. Hopefully tomorrow’s run feels better.

New shoe alert: I'm retiring my New Balance 880v12. They never fit as well as my old NB 880v9. If you recall I'm the president of the wide foot club. Today I bought a new pair of Asics GT-2000 in 4E width. I've run in these wide Asics back in the day, early 2000s. I'm giving them another try.
Sweet Memorial Day sale, I'm getting these new shoes shipped for $80 out the door. I'm pretty happy with that.10 -

May 24: Walk1.50 miles, Run 1.50 miles
May 25: Walk 2.00 miles
May 26: Walk 1.25 miles, Run 1.00 miles - driveway intervals
May 27: Walk 1.00 miles, Run 3.11 miles - trial 5K
Today's plan called for a trial 5K. I decided to run out the road, the flattest route, so I would have something to compare it to later. I feel like I was pretty close to going all out, but did walk when I had to to catch my breath. The running segments were mostly under 10 min/mile, but I did have to walk quite a bit. I wonder if it would be faster overall if I ran a little slower so that I didn't have to stop and walk as much?
Anyway, it was a decent run. The weather was great 55F (12.8C) and cloudy when I headed out about 8 am. I walked half a mile on the driveway for warm up. I'm pretty sure Garmin lost me again. Then I ran about 0.4 mile on the driveway before getting to the road. I ran the 3.11 miles in 36:19 minutes for an avg pace of 11:41 min/mile. I had hoped to be a little bit faster, but was going to be pleased with anything under 12 min/mile. My avg HR was 145 with a max of 156 bpm, which happened at about 1.5 miles in. I guess I walked enough later to keep it down a bit. Splits were 11:43, 11:44, 11:50 and the last 0.11 mile was at a 9:28 min/mile pace.
I looked back and my PR for a 5K was in May of 2020, and turned out it was the same route. I thought I had gotten my PR during a race, but I guess not. My PR is 33:42 min. I don't know if I'll ever get there again or not. I don't think speed is my forte', but I wish it was. I also walked half a mile for cool down afterwards.
May have to give up on the ticker. It's still not working for me. Just keeps refreshing itself. Today makes 67.36/80 mile goal.7 -
Turns out a 'speed' session isn't what I though it was @Laurz9191 , I'll get the hang of these running terms eventually. Anyway of to do 'naked' running tomorrow...
First non-stop 2 miles of running for over two years today, 2.13 in total, a little slow at 12:11.6 but not worried about the pace. A little warm out there even at 7am so happy to get that done
New shoes seem to be the order of the day. I am joining @kgirlhart and @chris_in_cal in getting an order in. I have stuck with Asics Gel Sonomas for years so going out on a limb getting some Hoka One One Cliftons based on a gait analysis. I didn't realise I have work away the grip moulding on the sole at the ball and heel on my current pair.

I ran 6 miles on Friday before work. Yesterday, was my small town’s annual festival so I took my mom to the parade and some events. I got the first of the 2-part vaccine for shingles on Friday and I was so tired yesterday. I took a complete rest day from all forms of exercise. I was supposed to hike with a friend on the AT today but rain, rain and more rain made us cancel those plans. I was really looking forward to being back in the woods. This morning, after a leisurely morning coffee, I did a 30-minute HIIT workout, walked a half mile on the treadmill, ran 4 miles outdoors in the rain, and then did a 45-minute back and bicep dumbbell workout. The rain is supposed to continue all day tomorrow. I’m sure it will be lovely once I have to return to work on Tuesday…. !
Love all the photos of sunrises, flowers and the animals!

You're doing great @TheMrWobbly . Congrats on the mile without stopping.
@kgirlhart Happy belated birthday to your DH. I hope you were able to have a fun celebration and able to get your run in. Glad you didn't pick up the turtle. Great job in meeting your monthly goal already. You're doing great with your streaking. It's rainy here today and is supposed to be tomorrow too, and maybe Tues. Glad for my treadmill.
@AlphaHowls You are amazing. You are trying to get 88 more miles before the end of the month and I'm sweating getting in 80 miles for the entire month!
@polskagirl01 That's crazy that they don't close the roads for those races. That would scare the bejeeberzers out of me. Interesting about the background to the song and love the Runventure guy taking selfies with everyone he passes in races. Maybe I should do that, but I wouldn't have to take very many pictures. Has anyone actually been hit by cars or busses during these races? Just curious. Those are beautiful pictures of the flowers and countryside where you walk. I'm sure it makes it more enjoyable. You are doing all you can to get well. I hope it all kicks in soon and you start feeling a lot better.
Great run @tarun_yadavA !
@Scott6255 Congrats on making your monthly goal already! It doesn't matter if is was a few long runs or many short ones. You got there.
@martaindale Sorry that yesterday's run was a struggle for you. The flowers are beautiful!
@TheMrWobbly What is "naked" running? I hope you, and your neighbors, enjoyed it. Great jo on the two miles without stopping! You are doing so good! I need to join you, @kgirlhart , and @chris_in_cal and order some new shoes. Mine are getting old...haven't kept track of the miles, but know that the ones I wear the most are needing to be replaced. The last ones I bought are okay, but they talked me into getting a half size smaller than I had been running in and they hurt my toe on long, hilly runs. I need another bigger pair.
Congrats @Zaxa2021 . You did/are doing great!
@Teresa502 Sorry the rain made you cancel your hiking plans, but that was a smart choice. It's down right cold today...I had to turn my heat back on after church! That's crazy for this time of year. I'm glad your energy was back today and you got in a great workout.
