I set my mileage goal low this month at 75 miles due to some hiking plans (I'm almost embarrassed to post this after @alphahowls monthly report). I ended the month with 89.21 miles and I’m happy with that. Congratulations to everyone who made their monthly goal, to all those who got out there and tried, and to all those rebounding from injuries! See everyone in June!

Never be embarrassed by someone else's place, plan, or plate! I certainly do not want to upset anyone or make any feel badly.

My Garmin Connect created this cute summary of May. All I really care about now is the # of runs, and distance. The "Total Activity Time" is interesting too. I ran just about 10 hours in May. That ought to creep up as I get more fit.

Walked 24km for the month. And that's OK.
Came across this determined little friend on my walk today, because I went one driveway further than before 🥰
Looking beautiful in a difficult place to grow.10 -

155.58/115 miles completed for May
I ran 6 miles this morning to finish out May with 155.58 miles and complete the streaker challenge for May. This is my highest mileage month ever. It was a lovely morning. I just love running as the sun is coming up.
I didn't see any loose dogs today, but I did see a skunk. I don't think he even noticed me which is good.
Congratulations to all who met their goals this month, and for those who didn't, congrats on getting out there anyway. See you all over in the June thread.

Very impressed @kgirlhart

Well done everyone on reaching, passing or embracing not meeting their goals for May.
I can't remember if I even had one for the month as it has been a recovery month. Starting over is sucking, even after just a couple of days off after my race in April, but hey ho.
I realised on Tuesday evening that I hadn't done a HM distance in May, which meant breaking my streak of monthly HMs that had been going since October 2020. I could do nothing about it as I was exhausted from hill repeats that morning and had a physio session the following day (oh boy, did that hurt!). So I had to force myself to accept that all good things come to an end.
My total came to around 109km for the month, which is very low for me but yeah, recovery.

Guess you'll just have to start again this month (if you want).4 -

Yeah, it upset me when the penny dropped. However, it was probably time I persuaded myself that my Dad's health is not at all dependent on how much or how little I run. (For those who haven't been here like forever, my father - who lives in another country - developed a brain tumour a couple of months after the start of the pandemic, and then his operation coincided with a cancelled HM that I ran anyway with some crazy idea that it would all be ok as long as I did that, and as radiotherapy and chemo followed, that translated into he would be ok as long as I did it every month.
I do want to start again, but I doubt it will be this month unless I combine the long run and the easy run one week. There are various shorter races and challenges coming up so I'm struggling to fit stuff in as it is. I'm pretty sure I hear the Tetris tune playing every time I try and organise my schedule. Record to beat is 31 months.

The John Lennon song popped into my head: Whatever Gets You Thru The Night (it's alright, it's alright)
You get to make your rules. Writing "I do want to start again" is music....do it!

@eleanorhawkins you could also take a break from it for a while. Maybe if you wait long enough, we can start again together. My HM streak was a similar length to yours when I stopped. But of course don't wait around for me - feel free to get a head start if you get the itch.
How is your Dad doing now? (Feel free to answer here, or message me, or neither - whichever option you're comfortable with.) I know the running isn't technically connected to his health, but it must be hard being far away and feeling like you can't do anything to help. So running those HMs probably helped you a lot, because it was something you could do, honoring him that way and improving your own physical & mental health at the same time, which is also honoring him in a way. You can still do both with your crazy mountain races, hill repeats, etc.5 -

@polskagirl01 I don't think coach will let me wait long, there are 5 months of grind ahead :-/ BUT I would love to streak with you!
Dad is... ok. Sometimes he sounds almost normal, other times... not so much. But he's hanging in there.4 -
Thanks for the shoe porn @kgirlhart ! Love them. They look so little. I have huge feet, so mine always look like boats. Congrats on your record mileage for the month!
@polskagirl01 Thanks for the explanation of the race course issues. Good decision to just look from afar and not participate anymore. I do run one race that the course isn't closed (where I met @Teresa502 IRL), but it is in the mountains and not very much traffic. Can't imagine doing that in a city. Is the mineral salts bath helping with your long-CoVID? You are doing great and love the poppy popping up through the driveway cracks.
You're doing great @TheMrWobbly . Sounds like we are doing the same with how fast we need to go to count walking.
You are amazing @AlphaHowls !
@eleanorhawkins Sorry about your streak coming to an end. I know that must have been hard to realize when you couldn't do anything about it. How is your dad doing these days? (Saw your answer above. I'm glad he is hanging in there and has good days.) Glad to see that you may start it again later. I'm with you on the Tetris schedule. It is rarely what I think it is going to be.
Congrats to everyone who met their goals this month or made a valiant effort! You are all inspiring and keep me going.
I just ran out of time the last couple of days, so didn't post. But, I did a wun for 2.1 miles on the 31st to exceed my goal by 2 miles. I'm happy with that. See you in the June thread!

quilteryoyo wrote: »@polskagirl01 Is the mineral salts bath helping with your long-CoVID?
In general, there may be a very slow positive trend towards improvement, but it's a day by day thing and not at all linear.6 -
@polskagirl01 It's worth it to calm your body down. I've heard with long CoVID that you can be semi-ok one day and not be able to do anything the next. I hope you start having many many more good days!4
