Dang @eleanorhawkins the format of that ultra sounds really tough! You are a beast for even attempting it!!
Got out this morning for 7 miles. It was a rough one. Felt stiff and achy the whole time.
@Scott6255 It's the kind of crazy challenge that's really up my street... I suck as a runner, but I am stubborn and bloody-minded hahaha. Also, it's cool in that I can pretty much do the distance I want to do and the elevation isn't all that much, whereas most of the shorter ultras here have some crazy elevation in them!6 -
Hi friends. I disappeared again at the end of April. My return to running announcement was a bit premature It was not a physical setback, just a combination of wimping out due to lots of days of cold rain, being out of the regular running habit and tired from being back to work full time, and not having a car (still) to get to the gym etc.
But, this weekend I ran 3 miles on Saturday, outside around the lakes on a beautiful morning. And Sunday another 20 minutes of running with some walking in the middle to total about 3 more miles. I've been walking every day still. I was a bit sore after Saturday's 3 miles out of nowhere run following more than 6 weeks without running, but it went better than I expected. I ran the whole thing while chit-chatting with my friends so that kept me motivated enough not to quit. We had a lot to catch up on.
I don't have a goal for May other than to work my way back into regular running and return to the gym. How much that will all amount to I don't know. Fingers crossed that my new car arrives this week to solve at least that excuse.13 -
May 1 – 5.05 miles
May 2 – 1.01 miles
May 3 – 5.12 miles

May 6 – 8.15 miles

Dodged the rain this morning with a 5 mile run. It was 59F and very humid. On Saturday, I volunteered to help our track club time a small 5K race. The race was held near where @quilteryoyo lives which is an hour and 15 minute drive for me but the club needed volunteers and I didn't have any plans so why not! Afterwards, I ran 8 miles on a trail that started across from the 5K location. It was a paved trail that was 4 miles in length and ran by the local university. It was so nice to run in some place different.
@TheMrWobbly – Your coronation snacks look yummy! What are the pink and blue fluffy things on the tiered serving dish in the second picture?
@Laurz9191 – Great racing! You did fabulous in both of the races! Glad your leg did good.
@quilteryoyo – Hope your mom gets to feeling better very soon.
@Mari33a – Have you heard of personal trainer/YouTouber Caroline Girvan? She’s from the Belfast area. I’m doing one of her series now. She’s a beast!
Hope you get your new car today @katharmonic!

Hi @Teresa502 they were meringue clouds, I doctored them to fill them with strawberries and cream.
Good to see you again @katharmonic
Feels a long process with C25K, believe in the process though!5 -
I've been in NC for my nephew's graduation for the past few days. Ate too much, exercised too little. I did manage to get in some short walks with my sister, but no running or RT. Feeling like a bloated slug, if there is such a thing.
Did get a short run in today to try to get back on track. Felt good.

Today’s run was 12.2km. I am still reaaaaalllly sore from Sunday’s races and my heart rate was quite high in comparison to my average at that pace. I am going to take all my runs easy and take a few more days off from running until I’ve recovered. The weather here is finally getting warmer 74F 23C. There was still a cool breeze, so that was quite enjoyable.
So far for May 72/200km.7 -
I'm glad it's not just me @martaindale .
Thanks @TheMrWobbly . Congratulations on the weight loss and keeping your heart rate in the zone.
Great running @Zaxa2021 and @chris_in_cal .0 -
Congratulations on your races @Laurz9191 . It's weird they didn't have water at the finish line. Did they after the 10k? Glad you're leg felt good.
Nice running @kgirlhart . Glad the loose dogs weren't an issue.
@eleanorhawkins That sounds like an intense race. Only first place. I guess if you finished second at least you would have the satisfaction of knowing that you did.
You are doing great @katharmonic ! I hope you get your car soon and continue to work on the consistency.
Great running @Teresa502 . Sorry we couldn't get together when you were so close.
Everyone seems to be doing great with getting out and doing what you can. Didn't comment on everyone, but did hug and like where appropriate. Just trying to catch up with everyone while I watch the kids sleep.
Thanks for the well wishes for Mom. She's doing a lot better. The pink eye is looking better. Still itchy, but not red. She's still coughing some, but all in all, is a lot better.
I've not posted in a couple of days due to internet issues and life getting in the way. But I have gotten at least 2 miles of something in every day. I hope I can today too, after work and maybe mowing at least a portion of my lawn.7 -

I have eye irritation this week. In the news today they are reporting that the latest covid variant "arcturus" has pink eye as one of the symptoms.....it could just be plain ol' regular though.
2 -
@quilteryoyo glad your mom's pink eye is doing better.
@chris_in_cal sorry for your eye problems!
I was still on the struggle bus this morning. As I started out, it was so painful I told myself I was turning around at the end of the block. But being pig-headed and stupid, I continued on. Finally got some sense and stopped after 4 miles. Then got home from work and was just going to walk on the treadmill, but then I tried some slow jogging and it didn't hurt. So did that for 5 miles. I think I may go this route for a few days. It's supposed to rain the next few days anyway.

Treadmill again. I was at a hotel Monday evening for work, so used the hotel gym. It was too gross after work to bother with running outside.8 -
There is no pre-race packet pickup for my 5k. I have to be there at a 6:30 a.m. check-in, for a 7:30 a.m. start.

It was raining, and I was in desperate need of an actual shower with soap and all before work, so I got my run in at the gym. 10.1 km. Legs are feeling better than yesterday .

I ran 6 miles again this morning. It was a lovely morning. I didn't see any critters today. Yesterday I saw a skunk. I really love running at this time of the year. It was a little warm, but not too bad. I love when my run starts out in the dark and ends when it is light. I felt pretty good, but my feet are starting to get some little aches. I've got 470 miles on my shoes so I guess it is time to replace them.
That is a beautiful photo @AlphaHowls
I know I have asked this before, but we have new members in the group, and I am revising my Spotify playlist. So for those of you who listen to music when you run, what are some of your favorite songs to run to? A few of mine are: Queen - Don't Stop Me Now, Tom Petty - Don't Do Me Like That, Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc., OK Go - Here It Goes Again, My Chemical Romance - Na Na Na. I have a pretty eclectic playlist.
11 -
@kgirlhart Nice question. I have been updating mine lately too . At the moment I enjoy running to these 4 songs most:
1. Silence - Marshmallow, Khalid
2. Suavemente - Elvis Crespo (salsa, but somehow it always fits)
3. Such Great Heights - remastered- The Postal Service
4. Song For No One - Shawn Mendes
A weird mix, but i enjoy it . I would love to hear more suggestions.9 -

This morning was track workout day. We met at our usual spot and ran a gentle warm up to the middle school track. There were five of us but we all did our own thing. I did 8 x 400s with 100 of rest in between each 400. I forgot to start my watch so using mileage from a friend.
Some of my favorites on my playlist include:
Werk out by Odrick Hall
Cake by the Ocean by Dnce
My Oh My by Camila Cabello and DaBaby
Drunk by Elle King and Miranda Lambert
Ex’s & Ohs by Elle King
Good God Almighty and Milk & Honey by Crowder

Rainy run this morning! Perfect steady but light rain and not a soul out but me.8 -
@AlphaHowls holy crap! I was thinking how are you only "proficient" and then I opened that link. There are people who have run every day for 50+ years!?!? I'm sure that very few on that list run the amount of miles you do every day though. You are way beyond proficient. That list blows my mind.
I don't have my new car yet, but tomorrow *might* be the day. Fingers crossed! I am begging for what I hope is one more ride to work and then I think anyone at work will happily drive me to the dealership so they can stop hearing about it
No running yet this work week. We'll see how tomorrow goes. The weather has been very nice so I really should get out and enjoy. It's going to be a busy next several days because of graduation weekend obligations.

If I am honest @kgirlhart I just run listening to the voices in my head - that space is crowded enough!
Love that view @AlphaHowls
Glad you are feeling better @Scott6255
Forgot to start my watch on yesterday's C25K, never mind. Moving on to week 4 on Friday.

I ran an uneventful 5.5 miles this morning. It was cloudy and humid and not a lovely morning. Technically it was light at the end, but it was still grey and just kind of blah and I was tired.
@teresa502 Those are lovely photos. I usually love running this time of year because I get to see the sky just as it is turning light.
Thanks for answering @Laurz9191 and @Teresa502 I'll have to check those songs out.

@teresa502 I love seeing the sunrise while I'm running in the morning. Beautiful shots.
@Zaxa2021 Keep up that consistency!

Hot and humid but overall pleasant run this morning. In my effort to avoid the elementary school drop-off traffic, I cut through a part of the neighborhood I don't usually run in and severely overestimated how much road there was through that area. I ended up winding up and down little dead end streets and culs-de-sac trying to get a few tenths here and there. It worked but probably not a route I will purposefully repeat. I need to spend some time figuring out a better way around the school traffic. Some days it doesn't really bother me but after a few days I just want a run where I don't have to be so vigilant about the cars.8
