My run was a little easier this morning. Same average pace but my HR and perceived effort were lower. After the run I spent a couple of hours burning another round of the fallen branches from that storm over the winter. We are getting really close to wrapping that up. After hauling stuff to the burn pit and crouching down over and over to poke and prod, my legs are officially tired. Time to get a shower and watch some TV!7 -
@martaindale Glad your run was easier today. Sounds like a lot of leg work and maybe toe touches with the limbs and burning. Glad you almost have it cleaned up.1

Made me smile! I am on track. I already jerked the extra 13 out of my tail!

So far we haven't had the rain and thunderstorms they were predicting for today. I was able to run 11 miles this morning. It was humid and a little warm, but there was enough of a breeze to keep it from being miserable. My new shoes felt great and there were so many pretty wildflowers.

Morning everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! (Coincidentally, it's a long weekend both sides of the Pond [different reasons obviously!] ).
Got in a 4 - ran into the City and back!8 -
Super running everyone. I have been reading and looking at pics and spoilers and following along although not posting too much. I have hit my 100 for the month which considering I am in week 6 of some sort of injury to lower back or hip flexor or whatever which is slowly getting better. It just makes me so much more appreciative of folks who have chronic pain. Sleep appears to be the #1 problem and it's hard to focus on health. sigh. But I put on my alphahowls hat and just keep getting out there.
And my big toenail on my right foot after being bruised months ago decided to start to come off. Or at least half of it did. sigh. WHy do they grow SO fast when you don't want them to and so SLOW when they have to grow out? Do yall keep a bandaide or something on it while it grows out?

@SummerSkier well done on 100... And umm, ouch! Hope your toe/foot isn't causing you too much pain2 -
Yes good job on grinding through your back and toes troubles to get your 100 miles @SummerSkier!
I can't offer advice on the toenail falling off, but my pinkie toenail has been black for months and hasn't fallen off yet.
Got in 8 miles on this Memorial day morning. It was fairly nice at 70F, but 80% humidity and no wind.
I MIGHT take the next couple days off to rest up for what feels like a brutal upcoming June. Just going to play it by feel.

I'm glad I made you smile @AlphaHowls ! I really don't know how you run so many miles!
Nice running @kgirlhart ! Glad the new shoes worked out. Do we get shoe porn?
Sounds like a great run @tarun_yadavA !
You did great for the month @SummerSkier ! I hope you feel better soon! I've only had a toenail come off once, due to a ladder falling on it. Like you, it was only half that came off, so I kept it cut short as much as I could and, yes, I did put a Band-Aid on it so it wouldn't get hung and jerk the rest of it off.

Congrats on new shoes, @chris_in_cal, @kgirlhart, @TheMrWobbly.
I find getting new shoes feels like such a treat. @chris_in_cal, my unicorns were NB 880 v7; nothing has fit me like those since then (but then I have the opposite problem from you - my feet are very narrow). I'm enjoying my Hoka One One Cliftons, @TheMrWobbly; I hope you like yours when they arrive.
I'm still hoping to hit my to hit my monthly movement goal with another wun or two. Did a mile and a half for time this morning (plus half a mile before and after for warm up and cool down) for a fitness test. I didn't go very fast (compared to my younger self and many people in this group), but it felt difficult and sort of good to be pushing myself.

You are doing great @spl8 !

Did an easy treadmill run this afternoon. It's still chilly and cloudy and dreary, so didn't feel like "enjoying" the great outdoors. I ran by HR today, so tried to keep it below around 130 bpm. I ran at 4.5 mph until my HR went up and then walked at 3.8 mph until it went back to near 120 bpm (mostly 1 min). I did the last quarter mile at 5.0 mph, so my HR went over the "goal." Overall I ran/walked 2.25 miles in 30:52 min for an avg pace of 13:43 min/mile. My avg HR was 126 with a max of 145 bpm. I also walked 1.04 miles for warm up and cool down. (odd number to even out my miles for the month)

I ran 3.5 miles this morning. Since I had the day off I slept in and I didn't get out until 9:20 this morning. It was already 75°F and I thought it might be miserable, but it was actually pretty nice. I guess there was enough of a breeze to keep it from being too hot and I think running a shorter run helped too.
@summerskier I have worn silicone toe protectors. They were recommended to me by @shanaber.
@quilteryoyo Here is your shoe porn. 😁

quilteryoyo wrote: »@polskagirl01 That's crazy that they don't close the roads for those races. That would scare the bejeeberzers out of me. Interesting about the background to the song and love the Runventure guy taking selfies with everyone he passes in races. Maybe I should do that, but I wouldn't have to take very many pictures. Has anyone actually been hit by cars or busses during these races? Just curious. Those are beautiful pictures of the flowers and countryside where you walk. I'm sure it makes it more enjoyable. You are doing all you can to get well. I hope it all kicks in soon and you start feeling a lot better.
@tarun_yadavA that's great that you've been able to do some running lately without problems!
@SummerSkier with toenails, for me, it depends on how the nail hits in my shoe. Usually it's most painful when it's fresh or black, and I'm waiting for it to grow out. By the time it's falling off, for me a bandaid wouldn't help. I also clip away at every little bit that isn't attached. But do experiment with it, maybe try bandaid/tape or wearing different shoes than the ones that caused the problem. I feel like somewhere there were toe covers or something mentioned. Not sure that would help either. I hope yours feel better soon! It's like a runner's badge of honor to lose a toenail. Congratulations? 😄
Public Service Announcement:
new suntan + bath with minerals/salt = 😳
Not a picture, just more details:But I do like my weekly mineral bath tradition. I enjoyed the geothermal spa we visited in January (naturally heated water full of minerals from deep underground, in outdoor pools with snow all around 😍) and found that I could order the "thermal salt" and get the mineral benefits at home. I've been adding those essential oils I've had for years and need to just use up.
Send your thoughts and prayers my way, haha. Tonight I'm planning to go meet the running club at the track. JUST for a short walk, group picture and to pick up a race shirt that another girl is giving away because a bunch of them did the local women's race and the shirt sizing was off or they don't like the fabric. They're so cute, if it fits me I'll wear it, despite not doing the race myself. I have no shame LOL.9 -
Morning everyone
Rolled the dice on a back-to-back run. So far OK.
Was planning to alternate between Run and Elliptical at gym... But work calendar not playing ball for a long gym sesh today
So ran to gym for weights only
@polskagirl01 - thank you, and sending you good vibes and juju8 -
And 2M back!
4 for the day!8 -

After the reminders of Mem Day sales, I ordered a couple pair of new shoes too. I love getting new shoes!!8

Yesterday was another cold, wet day. I finally went to my local park around 2:00 pm for a walk. The first mile it was raining lightly but I was able to put away my umbrella for the remaining two miles. Today it is sunny and beautiful just in time for the work week to resume! This morning I got in a short 3-mile run before circuit class. As it turned out today was cardio day in class and after the warm up we did 30 second sprints with 60 second walk breaks in between.
Thanks for the June start @martindale!
Nice shoes @kgirlhart!
I hope a night at the track doesn’t leave you exhausted @polskagirl01!

@martaindale Thanks for setting up June!
@tarun_yadavA Good job getting back into the running! It seems like it so far, so good! I’m sending you good vibes too!
@polskagirl01 Hope you have fun meeting up with the running club and the shirt fits!
Wow, there is lots of shoe purchases going on at the moment! Good job guys!
We had a 3 day weekend over here in Germany too. Unfortunately I couldn’t run, but I did get to go to Cologne to watch my oldest play LOTS of mini soccer games in a U9 tournament. It was fun and we were outside the whole time, which was also nice.
Today I finally got to my goal 201.7/200km with a 9.4km run. I wasn’t that motivated and it was way too cold for the shorts and t-shirt I had on, but once I got going I felt good and it (or I) warmed up along the way as well.
I was planning a long run tomorrow, but I seemed to have pinched a nerve in my upper back this afternoon while stretching to kill a moth (karma???). I can barley stretch my left arm or move at all really, so who knows if I will be able to run tomorrow. Fingers crossed .8 -

Hopefully it wasn't your juju that caused the girl I was meeting to cancel for today 🤣 Oh well.
In other news, my sensitivity to coffee is apparently back, oops 😬. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I needed to go for my own short walk and I hope I can sleep tonight.
Thanks @martaindale!7 -

I ran 5.25 miles this morning. It was a lovely run. I got up a little late, so it was already getting light when I headed out. It was humid, but at 65°F with a light breeze it was really nice. I was able to change my route up a little since it wasn't dark and that is always kind of fun. I did have to detour once because they are repairing a bridge and the road was closed. I started to go around the block and I saw a big dog heading toward the street. I turned back hoping he hadn't seen me. Then he started barking, but when I looked back he was running the other direction chasing a cat. It was one of those mornings where I wished that I had more time to run.
Thanks for setting us up for June @martaindale!

@kgirlhart - well done! Amazing hitting 1492

That's me done for the month. 90 miles of walking with 36.17 miles of C25K, doesn't count as running yet with all of the walking included. Hoping by the end of June I can start a 5k streak every other day.
Going to start putting a limit on the walking pace as well. Anything over 17 minutes a mile I won't count as my HR only gets into zone 2.
