  • Gave myself Les Mills Pump and then told the hubby, thanks for the gift I just bought myself. =]
  • Good ones. Yes, I love Boingo. I'm working on my playlist.
  • Lots of great advice. I usually say, I've worked very hard and struggled with unhealthy food choices for a long time, so I only allow myself 1 indulgence a week. So, no thanks. If they are coworkers, they will get to know you, love you for who you are and be fine with your own choices. People around me know not to offer me…
  • First you need to follow your doctors recommendations when it comes to physical activity after surgery. I came back too soon to teaching aerobics after my knee surgery, re-injured myself and ended up with a second surgery. The entire ordeal was over about a year and I gained 15 pounds! After the 2nd surgery I was so…
  • I'm also a Shakeology lover. I'm a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, so I did alot of research before trying. It's about the purest, whole food shake you can find. The price is because they went above and beyond on the quality of the ingredients. Sure, it's expensive when you just look at the price. You're…
  • I can't believe you just asked this. So, funny. I just wrote a blog post on it. Not sure if any of these techniques will help you. It's not all inclusive. =] http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/lanaholt/view/free-food-is-not-really-free-don-t-sabotage-your-diet-147643
  • I can relate. My hubby has a much faster metabolism than I do. He eats like crap sometimes. But, he knows what my fitness goals are and that I'm very concerned with what I put in my body. So, he is 100% OK with me just sitting with him and not eating when he is chowing down. We even choose different dinners sometimes. I…
  • I like the fuel for your car example. I made the mistake of not eating enough before my Zumba class tonight and I totally felt myself dragging. You burn more calories when you workout harder and you can workout harder with proper fuel. If you feel tire, worn, dizzy, weak.. well, not enough fuel.
  • I can relate. Food is 80% of our battle with weight control. I'm not near Fort Wayne. But I would love to be a buddy and resource. =]
  • I agree this is a controversial subject. Some folks do them to take the quick "easy" route. Cleanses can be very healthy and detoxify the body if done correctly. They are not supposed to be a lazy shortcut. They are meant to be a part of a healthy life. You don't cleanse after Thanksgiving because you just gorged yourself.…
  • Ditto, ditto, ditto. The more you workout, the more weight you lose and your metabolism definitely gets revved up. Try replacing white flour products with whole grain. If you have never tried quinoa, add it. It's a great carb replacement. It has lots of protein too. Add a little protein at each meal and that will help with…
  • Well, my husband was a Marine... You know what they say, once a Marine, always a Marine. =]
  • If you are truly friends, you will say something. But "friends" online aren't always intimate enough friends to give such advice. It's up to you to decide. I totally agree with the calories. It's not healthy for most women to go under 1200 calories a day unless they are doing a very short diet modification or are under a…
  • Thanks guys. Love the picture of the fat! Awesome!
  • The max I will weigh myself is once a week, but I prefer once a month. I don't want it to be an obsession and it's normal to vary in weight day to day. I can gain 5lbs during my period, then poof it's going a week afterwards. I would go crazy if I weighed myself everyday and I recently had a friend who needed to go to…
  • Trekkies the documentary. Too much like real life. =]
  • Thank goodness for the iPhone app. So I can connect when I'm not at home.. I think I would have withdrawal symptoms if I was away from it too long. =]
  • You can ask them to go light on the rice and some places have brown rice or whole grain rice, adds texture and is more filling. Avoid alcohol if possible and eat slow. Enjoy your conversation, have fun and don't fixate on the food.
  • I just briefly scanned this one, but it looked interesting. Weight training is a must for anyone that wants to trim down and lose weight. Our muscles are calorie eating machines! http://www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/weight-training-tips
  • I drink Shakeology daily. Yummers. =] I take some extra supplements because I'm an aerobics instructor and put my body through the ringer: Calcium/D/Magnesium, E, Glucosomine Chondroitin/MSM and an herbal immunity boost.
  • Yes, it is heaven in a jar... It's like candy and should be treated as such. It's a fun sweat treat.
  • I feel your pain. I was seriously at my wits end till a friend told me about this site. I was contemplating going to an overeaters anonymous meeting but felt very insecure about it for several reasons. 1. I'm a fitness professional. I'm not supposed to have this kind of problem. 2. I'm not that overweight and thought I…
  • Amen, brother. Glad to see you here. I'm from the OC too. Whoop. Whoop.
  • Be careful of whey protein isolate unless it from a very high quality, reputable source. Alot of the whey protein used in the cheap tubs we see at the discount stores is considered feed grade, what they feed to cattle.
  • The classic is oatmeal. Try steel cut. Any food high in fiber is also filling... lentils, beans, berries, broccoli, pears, apples... Try mixing some of the high fiber fruits with the oatmeal, works wonders. And it may satisfy the sweet tooth too. I used that last night when I really wanted a brownie. Then off to bed before…
  • Doctor, doctor, doctor. If I had seen my doctor instead of teaching on a partially torn ACL, I may have never had a torn ACL, torn meniscus and worn cartilage. Now I've had 2 knee surgeries and osteoarthritis. Err on the cautious side.
  • I'm in I just started P90X this week in preparation for P90X2 around Christmas.
  • It would be useful for them to have estimated calories for weight training. The estimate for cardio is effected by the same things as age, weight, muscle mass, and effort. When I teach a Zumba class I burn about 700-1000 calories. But, someone who just barely moved in the class could walk out only burning 200-400.
  • Thanks guys. I'll add it as an exercise in the cardio section and put my estimated burn. I know how much I burn because I've used a BodyBugg. I have a very high metabolism because I'm very muscular. But, I usually estimate my calorie burn lower so I don't go crazy with my food calories. =]
  • The ads can be a pain. I ditched if for my own playlists. Don't they have a pay version now, with no ads? I teach Zumba so I pretty much only listen to my class music 24/7. I need to be brainwashed by every song so it's second nature when I'm teaching. =]
