Oops, I've obviously been doing it all wrong then. I've been eating over 1200 the whole time I've been on MFP, usually quite a bit more. I must be imagining my weight loss...

I was thinking of posting about this today! I have been losing weight for 6 months and working out for about 4 or 5 (mixture of strength and cardio). I've lost 2 stone and feel SO much better, but all my clothes still fit (if a tiny bit roomier) and I've hardly lost any inches at all. No one's noticed - or at least not…

This (MFP) works for me. I hadn't weighed myself in about 20 years and was comfortable, although fat. But started to notice some (minor) weight-based health issues at 42 - last year - and was in the right place to start losing some. I am fairly relaxed about it all in comparison to many on here, but I've basically started…

I grew up eating peanut butter (UK in the 70s) - generally mixed with a little Marmite or Bovril in our house! I think all my family like it, but loads of people hate it. It's not so widespread as in the USA, but we've had it around for ages.

I totally - it's been my favourite 'wonder' discovery since joining MFP. I used to like it but felt it was a bit 'bad' - but since I discovered how it keeps any hunger pangs away and stops me picking at whatever's available late at night I think it's brilliant. I do exactly the same - a teaspoon late on does wonders and is…

I agree - start now :-)

I've told no one except my partner (and even with him I play it down). That's what feels right for me. I'm as sure as I can be that if I'd told people I would have stopped within the first week or so - it's not about having permission to 'eat that cheeseburger' - I'm accountable to me. I tell people I've joined the gym, so…

I guess that's technically true - after ll, I did lose 1lb - apologies for using inaccurate terminology. I meant that I'd pretty much been maintaining my weight, which is empirically true.
-
Good idea - I'll be keeping a closer eye on it from now on!
-
I'm a lot hungrier though - I'd got kind of settled into my previous amount and the lower one is taking some getting used to!

It's a victory that is not about what the scales say - so it could be moving down a size in clothes, or someone being able to fit their arms around you, etc

I went back :-) I was absolutely dreading it, but I went back. And it was OK. I didn't manage anything like what the instructor suggested, but I *did* manage a whole lot more than I expected I would. And I know I will go back again. Thanks.

Wow - I'm glad I posted, you have all really helped. Thank you for taking the time to reply. A sort of supplementary question: with the strength stuff, is there a kind of lower limit below which it's pointless? In other words, if the instructor recommended I do two sets of 12 on each machine (I'm not sure of the…

http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Way-Stop-Smoking-Non-smokers/dp/1402771630/ Worked for me in '95, and my partner, and many many friends. You keep smoking as you read the book, and stop at the end.
