  • I get that sometimes, but found it's mostly from drinking too much water rather than it being a food thing (though I generally wait at least an hour and a half after eating before lifting). Do you chug water a fair bit beforehand? I've had to take it easy on water for about half an hour before working out, and just sort of…
  • Jillian has lots of programs! I guess just pick the one that sounds like the most enjoyable and go for it? There are no rules
  • I don't. I've tried and failed and it just bums me out. My body clock is just like 'NOPE'. I work out in the evening instead and it's a much better option for me.
  • I'm vegetarian for ethical reasons too, so I understand  I make a rad vegan lasagne, but sometime I don't have pasta sheets so I mix in some gnocchi instead. There's possibly gluten-free gnocchi or lasagne sheets out there, but I am not gluten-free so can't advise, I'm sorry :( But anyway, if you're interested, the…
  • It took me a while to un-complicate NROL it so I totally understand. If you like I can PM you the link to the spreadsheet I made up, if that will help at all? I have it on google docs. Each workout has it's own little sheet and lists the sets/reps/rest times. Beats me why they didn't just do that in the first place but oh…
  • Why didn't you like it? It's what I am using currently. I read the book, wrote out the workouts myself (because I couldn't get my head around the program until I did that), ignored the food section and bought/set up the equipment I needed. Now I'm loving it and I get sad if I miss a workout! I find it a good program for…
  • Sounds like a load of garbage to me

  • I'm not bald, nor am I a dude. But today a guy at work bought a cap (I think the brand was Adidas?) which is designed like a sweat band. It keeps the sweat off your face and it has mesh bits on top so it can 'breathe'. He is balding and said he bought it because of this exact problem. Looks like a pretty nice hat. Bonus =…
  • I am doing New Rules of Lifting and I bought the following: -squat rack (second hand) -bench (second hand) -3x barbells (2x second hand) -dumbells (second hand) -weight plates (second hand) -aerobic step (just for doing step-ups, it has different heights. new) -fit ball (new) All of that would have cost me less than $300…
  • Last time this 'game' came around I made a facebook status about it. I said instead of participating in this pointless exercise I would rather all my friends go and check their boobs and make sure it's a regular occurence. I told them all about my own scare a year ago, when I found a lump, had biopsies and had an 85%…
  • I am always keen for new Fitbit friends if anyone would like to add me :) http://www.fitbit.com/user/27RBR4
  • Definitely go slowly! I completed the program, meaning I can now run for 30 minutes at a time. But I can't do 5k in 30 mins. I run at about 6-7km/hr so I guess it's more of a slow jog/shuffle type thing but it is the only way I can do it. No shame in it though! I am proud that I managed to do it at all :blushing: Complete…
  • Hey fellow Aussie! I turned 30 last year and it was scary! It feels fine now, but at the time it was like "okay I should be a grown up by now, time to get my *kitten* into gear" and so far I've been doing okay at it  I recently fell off the bandwagon for a month or two but I have the knowledge now to get back on and…
  • Gosh yes, I wear makeup every day. I feel weird without it now. For work it's winged liner, mascara, brows and blush. If I have the time/energy I'll whack lipstick on as well. Weekends is generally just mascara though, cos I tend not to leave the house much  jeanners98 I used to be the same! I thought lipstick made…

  • The bath idea is a good one! If I have blocked sinuses I sprinkle a few drops of eucalyptus oil in the shower before I get in. It's nice. Just don't slip on the oil!
  • I understand this 100%. I am such an introvert and I hate talking about my physical self with other people. Hate it. Example: every day for breakfast at work I have tomato on toast. I don't eat this because of calories or whatever, it is genuinely my favourite breakfast. Every day someone will say to me 'oh my gosh, you're…
  • If I have cold/flu I make this: http://www.theppk.com/2011/10/mushroom-hot-pot/ And I load it up with garlic and chilli and heaps of vegies. So easy, yummy, comforting and filling. If I have a sore throat I do the ol' honey/lemon/garlic/booze thing too. If I am tummy sick I stick with simple things like toast or vegies. To…
  • This seems about right: http://thoughtcatalog.com/chelsea-fagan/2013/04/what-she-means-when-she-says-im- fine/ "When a woman says that she is fine, that nothing is wrong, she is doing something that she has always been taught was the right move. She is being chaste with her emotions, playing close to the chest, and not…

  • After watching grunge video clips yesterday I have rekindled my love for 90s dude fashion- long shorts, boots, long wavy hair, no shirt. Basically, Chris Cornell circa 1990. My 'type' seems to cross the whole spectrum
  • Like this?
  • Balding + shaved head + stubble/beard. In other words, Jason Statham. Edit to add: also there's nothing sexier than a dude that goes out of his way to help an animal, whether it's a lost dog or a wayward spider.
  • Eternally grateful for this thread
  • I know it's hard to see through the pain at the moment but just keep on keeping on. Put yourself first and do what you need to do to get through this tough time. Try to remember that you should NOT feel worthless. He is being a real turd and that is nothing to do with you being a 'bad person' or whatever. You truly deserve…
  • I have the Flex and I think it's rad. It gets me moving, and I love that it tracks my sleep. Also the alarm feature is a godsend. I have a terrible memory so I needed one that I can wear all the time. The tamagotchi-looking ones are cute but woud have ended up in the wash almost every day, so this is much better for me.
  • It's her body and she can do whatever she likes. Your definition of beautiful is not universal.
  • I am experiencing the tail end of a flare up at the moment so hopefully I can exercise again soon, but when I am pain-free I am going to try the stretches given by Tree of Life Yoga (I think?) on youtube. If you look for "Yoga for Sciatica Part 1" you'll find it. It's not 'hippie' yoga, nor does it seem too difficult. Most…
  • You don't live together... you don't need to spend 10+ hours with her! Just catch up with her, do whatever activity and then go home or move on to your next thing by yourself ("sorry, I have lunch with my parents, gotta run"). I have the same days off as a lot of my friends too and it's rare for me to spend stretches of…
  • I would recommend entering your details into Scooby's calculator to get a better idea of the calories you require: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator It'll tell you (roughly) your BMR and TDEE, which are good things to know. Knowledge is power! For example, I aim for around 1,600 calories a day for weight loss,…
